PICTEK RGB Gaming Keyboard USB Wired Keyboard review

PICTEK has a bulky frame that takes up a lot of space while in use. Moreover, its USB-powered design requires a wired connection to work, which is a bummer for some people. However, in terms of performance, longevity, and overall value for money, few cost-effective models can rival this beast of a keyboard. The 24 anti-ghosting keys on offer, for instance, are splash-proof and have smooth-beveled edges that do not irritate people while playing. They also have a backlight for night time gaming and a comfortable crater architecture that responds seamlessly. Thus, PICTEK is good for personal/ professional gaming.

The PICTEK has a heavy-duty plastic frame that withstands day-to-day abuse well. While playing, you can rest your entire weight on it without worrying about its components breaking. Its keys, for instance, not only have a detachable cap for easy cleaning, but have also passed a 10,000,000 keystroke test, and are thus durable.

Our Verdict

Even though you will need a bit more space to set up and use a PICTEK gaming keyboard, it offers value for money. Its frame and keys are durable. It also has a comfortable style with an adjustable backlight (5) for night gaming.

hey everyone welcome it's time to shift gears a little bit and take a look at a piece of gaming hardware that's a little bit more on the affordable side this is the pick tech RGB gaming keyboard check this out this is a full-size keyboard that packs in quite a few features considering it's relatively affordable price point things like mechanical feeling Keys more on that in a minute dedicated multimedia Keys full RGB backlighting spill resistance and 25 key anti-ghosting it measures 19 inches long 8.1 inches wide 1.6 inches high and weighs in at about 2 and a half pounds it's constructed of a hard plastic material that generally feels pretty solid to

the touch but if you pick it up and apply a little bit of force to it you can definitely feel some bending or flexibility the key caps take on a cascading shape a design decision said to be focused on comfort and ergonomics and I put the keyboard through its paces by doing a couple of marathon gaming sessions and I have to say it felt comfortable all of the time so I guess that's a step in the right direction so let's talk about the keys themselves they're said to be mechanical feeling you know what does that mean well they tried to replicate the feel of a mechanical keyboard did they succeed well I mean it depends on what you're used to personally I don't

think they feel like the mechanical keys that I'm used to do in my Corsair keyboards having said that they do perform quite well surprisingly they're smooth they're easy to press and they provide a little bit of tactile feedback which is nice so you're not guessing when you press the key or when you didn't there's a clear sort of click you don't hear it it's not audible but you can definitely feel some feedback when a key is pressed and since this does not use mechanical switches the key presses are actually on the quieter side which can be a big plus for some people here's a clip of the keyboard in action so you can get a feel for what it sounds like while gaming [Applause] it's a pretty good-looking gaming keyboard it's absolutely loaded with RGB lighting not just on the keys but along the sides as well lighting customisation is handled right on the keyboard itself through key combinations as opposed to a dedicated software utility that you

would download install and access right from the desktop of your computer now this can be a good or a bad thing depending on how you look at it on one hand you don't have another software utility to download and worry about which can be nice if you have a whole bunch of different RGB products or systems that you use on your computer that each use their own different type of software so that's one less piece of software to worry about but on the other hand you have to memorize or know those key combinations in order to get what you want out of the keyboard the lighting key combos are all listed on the user manual that comes packaged with the keyboard and you can also find them on the Amazon store page here's a look at all of the different lighting effects available on the keyboard, overall my opinion of

the lighting is that it's bright vibrant colorful and there should be enough different options to satisfy most people there are a total of nine multimedia keys and a volume control scroll wheel all situated along the top edge of the keyboard just above the main keys now unlike the main keys they are a little bit light and plasticky feeling they're not quite the same quality or at least they don't feel that way but having said that they do get the job done and to be completely honest I'm just glad that they're there because to me a dedicated multimedia keys are must-haves on a gaming keyboard underneath the keyboard has some anti slip pads to keep things situated while gaming and some flipo rear feet that allow a little bit of adjustment to the tilt angle connecting and installing the keyboard is about as easy as it could ever be that's because all you have to do is plug it in and start using it it's plug and play so you plug it in there's no driver there's no software utility you plug it in and you start using it it's that simple and how

can we forget about that retractable red cell phone tray the idea here is that you flip out this little red thing and you stick your cell phone in it so that it's in front of you while you're gaming that way I guess you don't miss your text messages your phone calls or whatever else you have going on on your phone for me I don't really like using that because I don't want my phone in front of me while I'm pro gaming if you know what I mean but nevertheless to each their own if that's something you like to have in front of you all the time then I mean that's there so go ahead and use it flaws and shortcomings I mean it's kind of hard to complain considering the price point which is currently about 30 US dollars having said that there are a couple things that I think might be worth mentioning or pointing out the first of which is that on the bottom edge of the keyboard there's a gigantic logo it's bright it's vibrant but it's always red it's always on and it's always red there's no way to customize it I would have liked to have had the ability to have a key combination or something that would let me turn it off or dim it or you know maybe just change the color or something but there's nothing you can do about it it's on it's bright it's red you're gonna have to deal with it the second thing is there's no USB past the

report some people are probably like yeah who cares I don't need that I have USB ports on my Tower yeah whatever the thing is I use it because it's super convenient the keyboards right in front of me on my desk it's easy to plug a USB Drive into or my phone so I use it for that you know but like I said it's hard to be super critical , so you can kind of live with a couple of shortcomings for the price point in my opinion the pic tech RGB keyboard is a full-size gaming keyboard that despite not using mechanical key switches does perform pretty well and offers up some pretty cool features at the same time such as RGB backlighting and dedicated multimedia keys oh and let's not forget about the phone holder so that you can never miss a call or text message while you're gaming ever again this keyboard is currently selling on Amazon the purchasing links are going to be down

I was contacted by pic tech a few weeks back to check out their gaming keyboard the box came with in a bigger box to ensure that there would be no damage inflicted upon the keyboard itself which was quite nice the packing wasn't bad either so they're definitely going out of their way to make sure that your items aren't damaged in any way during shipping it comes with a standardized manual that tells you the FN keys for lighting profiles etc there's a multitude to choose from the usual shooter MMO MOBA etc it comes to the 104 key anti-ghosting it's a backlit keyboard it's pretty much the standard fare for the knockoff MX clone keyboards and usually they all sort of follow certain tropes they either use uh Diamond keys or get Tron keys really what they all boiled down to is personal preference because each one has a different

aesthetic look at the end of the day some come with braided USB cables this one did not disappointingly but the design seems more geared towards the gaming audience this is completely a gamer style keyboard which could be a good thing if you're looking for something more garish and outlandish not so much if you want something that's a bit more laid-back a little less in-your-face this keyboard is also waterproof or I should say water resistant more likely it comes with five drain holes the one thing that the Asian market has mastered and that the more name-brand companies are finally coming around too slowly I hear color soldiers put out a water resistant keyboard finally the the Asian mark has been doing this for a while which is a plus if you tend to be really accident-prone or if you have cats that are dickheads and you leave liquid drinks next to your expensive keyboard but this isn't expensive so you wouldn't

have that issue to begin with it comes with cherry Blue style switches or cherry blue clones one of my personal favorites cherry blues in general honestly even the clones are good and depending on who you talk to or what you're on the GAT Tron or Reutimann keys are just as good as cherry MX's but once again that's all subjective to people's personal preferences this keyboard has an ergonomic design with palm and wrist rest to prevent fatigue this also supports pretty much every Windows OS I don't know if it'll work for Lunas or anything the cherry blue switch clones are said to have 50 million keystrokes of a life span over membrane counterparts the FN + Windows key is set to lock the Windows key to keep you from accidentally hitting that pop-up button while you're in the middle of gaming and the FN key also initiates everything else on the board that has to do with lighting weather dimming or brightening a different light patterns snake pattern game mode whether it's MOBAs to RPGs the FN key is where you get to change things up a bit all the keys are removable all the Asian

manufacturers are kind enough to give you a key puller but pretty much I think every keyboard does now except for Logitech keyboards they don't do that now that I think about it and I figured it would be cool to once again compare a real cherry MX key versus the clone keys and you find that there's a bit more plastic housing on the inside it truly encompasses the whole thing the lettering on the keys isn't bad but I'd say I give the nod towards the MX the clones don't have that clean look there are also rubber feet on the back and you'll notice a sticker that gives you the month and year when the keyboard was made the risk rest it's hard plastic now I was going to deduct points for this until I started pulling out my other keyboard the Logitech keyboard which is three or four times the price and it was also plastic I'm not fond of how hard plastic hand rests at all I am come to really appreciate this soft rubber it's more forgiving on the hands but you can't really take away points from that because the keyboard is really cheap there are also some lighting accents that are added probably for only aesthetic

values sort of like to give that you know boom in your faces is gaming Sam pal eat it the one thing that you will notice with all of the Asian market keyboards is that the color scheme is usually the same there is no full RGB and that's the downside of the whole thing that's the big knock but on the other hand you have to keep into account that this is a fully mechanical keyboard and anything from the big manufacturers at the same price point isn't fully mechanical they may give you some form of RGB but it isn't really great RGB it's like that cheap lackluster RGB on a membrane keyboard which you can find with the Corsair k55 and frankly if I had to choose between a membrane keyboard and this I'd take this any day of the week also I decided to take it upon myself to pull out a keyboard that I'm not using either the G 910 I have two of them actually my first one that broke and the replacement Logitech sent me I noticed that Logitech took away the extra wrist rest which really sucked I'll talk about that

some other time but I figured I'd do a direct comparison one keyboard that's , but if you use whatever code they gave me it'll be cheaper for you I don't get paid for that by the way you know just you know you're not putting any money in my pocket you know don't think I'm doing this like if you use this discount code I get paid that that's not the case but anyway I wanted to make a note of showing off this keyboard , versus the logitech c910 I found as I found before when I used a mechanical keyboard from the Asian market to be superior to the Logitech the Cherry MX blue clone is just so much better the feel the snap I do like the clicks but there's like you know it's like this feeling it's like you hit the tech then it comes back to you like bam bam you know it feels faster more fluid I have far more confidence that my input would go in like that on this keyboard whereas - with the Logitech I didn't have that same

confidence I didn't get that same reassurance I didn't get that same feel in fact the Logitech felt slow to me in comparison and I want you to know that I used a new keyboard this is the first time I've taken this keyboard out of the box and out of the wrapper it is not old it's not worn it is no dust on it nothing it's fully new and I found it to be sluggish in comparison to the Cherry MX blue clones I guess the only thing you could say that the roamer G's are comparable to is the Cherry MX browns or the brown clones I have a brown keyboard in the other room I used it and I still liked it better than the Romer G maybe it's just personal preference on my end

between the two the better buy for simple use is the Asian market keyboard as much as I like I don't want to sound sheila's or anything but it's the truth and then the one big thing Logitech has is the macro keys the dedicated audio controls which I like a lot and it also has different stages like M 1 M 2 M 3 & 5 like different memory stages so you can have multiple macros on

the Logitech keyboard that's the big gift for that one if only Logitech just made this an MX keyboard man it would have been legit now I'm not saying that the blue keyboards from a EUR that like to be all end all in all honesty I prefer my Corsair k95 MX speeds over the clone blues which I liked for a while so you know there's something just to sort of keep things in line to let you know that I'm just not saying whatever to seem like I'm kissing up to any company and on that note I should get the hell out of here simply because I probably would way past all of my footage and yeah I'm a douchebag rate comment.
