All Corsair One units come with 16GB of DDR4 2400 MHz memory, a Z270 motherboard, an 80Plus Gold certified power supply, and Windows 10 Home installed out of the box. All units also feature a liquid-cooled CPU, while Corsair One Pro models get liquid cooled graphics as well.

Don’t worry: we’ll show you more of the liquid cooling setup later.

For those wondering, Corsair sent over a One Pro with the GTX 1080 and 960GB SSD to review. And boy is it a beast.

Before I talk about the performance, though, the Corsair One’s beautiful design is worth exploring. Rather than opting for a more traditional flat-rectangle console shape, Corsair has gone with a trashcan chassis. Its footprint isn’t a perfect square – the One is about 25mm deeper than it is wide – but it’s slimmer and much, much shorter than a traditional gaming PC enclosure. Even though it’s tall for a compact system, the One is the type of machine you can place anywhere due to its size. I reckon it looks great on a desk next to a large monitor.

If you want to compare it to modern game consoles, the Corsair One is approximately 13 liters in volume, whereas the PlayStation 4 Pro is 5 liters. But let’s be honest, that isn’t a fair comparison considering the Corsair One is significantly more powerful and an entirely different shape. The One does look larger than a typical game console to the eye, and it’s not the smallest SFF gaming PC I’ve seen, though smaller systems tend to pack weaker GPUs (often the GTX 1060). You’re trading off a bit of size for a lot more power with the Corsair One.

This system is one of the few compact gaming machines that actually looks good, and that’s entirely down to the premium metal construction. Practically every side of the Corsair One is a piece of machined aluminum with a gorgeous matte-black bead-blasted finish. Its angular and curved design does have a few hints of ‘gamer’ style, though for this most part I think this system looks fantastic as a desktop or living room unit.

Some aspects of the One’s design are particularly interesting, such as the thick fins along the top and bottom sides. While I don’t think these fins are actually used for heat dissipation (that task is left to the internal radiators), their presence makes the One seem powerful. There’s also a significant amount of perforation on the left and right sides, allowing air to be drawn through the aluminum panel, through the radiators, and out through the top of the system.

The Corsair One’s front panel includes two aqua-blue LED strips that run top-to-bottom. Surprisingly for Corsair, these LED strips are not RGB, as according to Corsair, that wouldn’t have provided the “desired aesthetic” for a cool, quiet system. The blue works well here and adds some interest to the otherwise black design.

I/O consists of a single USB 3.1 gen 1 port on the front, along with an HDMI port, for those that want to use the Corsair One for virtual reality. On the back you’ll find a further three USB 3.1 gen 1 ports, two USB 2.0 ports for your keyboard and mouse, a USB 3.1 gen 2 Type-C port, Gigabit Ethernet, five 3.5mm audio jacks for surround analog audio plus optical S/PDIF, and two antenna connectors for its built in 802.11ac Wi-Fi solution.

Triple-display setups are possible thanks to two DisplayPort 1.4 connectors and a HDMI 2.0 port on the rear, all connected directly to the graphics card.

The inside of the Corsair One is arguably more impressive than the outside. The system is split into two zones to cool each of the major components efficiently. On the right is the MSI mini-ITX Z270 motherboard and SFX power supply, with full-height Corsair Vengeance RAM. The CPU is cooled by a closed-loop liquid cooler and 240mm slim radiator without a fan: the top Corsair ML140 140mm fan takes care of airflow in this system.

On the other side is a full-length GeForce GTX 1080, also attached to a closed-loop liquid cooler with a slim 240mm radiator. A blower fan provides some additional airflow for the GPU on this side, while extension cables send the display outputs from the graphics card directly to the rear of the system. A 2.5-inch SSD is neatly slotted into the front of the unit.

The great thing about this design is practically every aspect to the Corsair One is upgradeable without having to worry about proprietary components. The Core i7-7700K is socketed and can be easily replaced with any other LGA1151 CPU after you take off the liquid cooler. Upgrading the RAM is easy thanks to its two accessible DIMM slots. The SSD can be replaced as well; there’s even a free SATA port if you can find space for another drive somewhere. Even the mini-ITX motherboard can be swapped out in the future if you want to do a platform upgrade, as the rear panel uses a standard I/O shield.

And upgradeability doesn’t end there. You can swap out the graphics card as well, as Corsair has used an off-the-shelf desktop card in the One. Corsair tells me there’s 11 inches of space for the graphics card, plus up to three standard slots for air coolers. Repurposing the liquid cooler for other GPUs may be tricky, but you can just chuck in a standard air cooler in the future without much fuss, aside from some added noise.

All of this upgradeability makes the Corsair One the perfect system for gamers who love to tinker and upgrade. You might have to shell out  for the unit to begin with, but as new graphics cards and CPUs come out, the One will be able to accommodate them. You can’t say that about most other pre-built SFF gaming machines.

Performance, Overclocking and Thermals

As before, the review unit I received came equipped with an Intel Core i7-7700K processor, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card, 16GB of DDR4 2400 MHz memory, and a Corsair Force LE 960GB SATA SSD. Unfortunately, the Corsair One cannot accommodate an M.2 SSD, so you can’t get PCIe storage speeds; you’ll have to make do with SATA.

I’m not going to spend a ton of time talking about the performance of this system, because both the i7-7700K and GTX 1080 perform exactly as expected.
Our GTX 1080 review in particular covers the exact performance you can expect from the One, as our test bench also uses a Core i7-7700K (albeit overclocked for marginal performance gains).

I did play several games on the Corsair One, mostly on my 1080p TV (yes, I’m a pleb and haven’t upgraded to a 4K TV yet). I managed to run Watch Dogs 2 at 1080p above-Ultra settings with 2xMSAA at 60 FPS or thereabouts, which was a fantastic experience. The Corsair One destroyed Mass Effect Andromeda at 1080p Ultra settings, pushing well into the 90 to 100 FPS range. This system could easily play Andromeda at 1440p with the same settings, or 4K at slightly reduced settings.

The cooling solution in the Corsair One is outstanding. At idle, the One is a quiet though not silent system; you’ll hear the fans running if you place the system on your desk, but it’s easy to drown it out with even a low-volume song or video.

But the One is most impressive under load. The system doesn’t spin up its fans under the slightest pressure, so if you’re only doing an intensive task for a few minutes, the One will stay near-silent. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes for the fans to kick into gear, and even then, the system isn’t particularly loud. In-game audio at a comfortable volume on external speakers will easily drown out the mid-tone rumble of the fans; you won’t have to put up with annoying high-pitched whining or a tiny and brutally loud cooler.

And I tested the Corsair One right next to a monitor on a desk as well. Place the One on the floor, or a bit further away, and the One becomes pretty darn quiet.

Thermals are well managed, too. During an hour-long session of Watch Dogs 2 (at Ultra quality settings of course), the i7-7700K sat in the 68°C to 72°C range, while the GTX 1080 flatlined at 54°C. CPU temperatures here are reasonable and about what you’d see from an air cooler in a traditional desktop. Although the CPU is liquid-cooled, you must remember the radiator has no fans near it, so it’s relying entirely on the top fan to create enough airflow. GPU temperatures are outstanding, assisted by the nearby blower fan, so there’s plenty of room for overclocking.

Under AIDA64’s system stability test, the CPU sat at around 83°C, while the GPU still reached 54°C. This presents a worst-case scenario, and considering this CPU temperature, you probably won’t want to push the CPU’s clock speed too much. But this is a review after all, so I overclocked it to the maximum anyway.

I pushed the Corsair One’s i7-7700K up to 4.8 GHz without issue, with the CPU sitting at 88°C under AIDA64’s stability test. I did try the CPU at 4.9 GHz, but that pushed temperatures over 90°C, which is a bit too hot for my liking. Plus at 4.8 GHz you’re getting a decent performance improvement anyway.

On the GPU side, before overclocking the Corsair One’s GTX 1080 was hitting a boost clock of 1873 MHz in Watch Dogs 2, which is already decent for this graphics card. I was able to achieve a +190 MHz core clock boost and +160 MHz memory clock boost without much fuss, which sent the GTX 1080’s core up to 2050 MHz during Watch Dogs 2. Squeezing an extra 11 percent more performance is always welcome, and I’m sure there’s more headroom if I were to play around a bit more.

As for GPU temperatures while overclocked, there’s so much GPU temperature headroom that the GTX 1080 sat at just 55°C under load. Yep, that’s right, it was just 1°C hotter while overclocked. Chucking a GTX 1080 Ti in here on the same cooling solution should present no issues, even if overclocked, too.

We Love It

The Corsair One is the best small form factor gaming PC you can buy right now, period. Corsair has hit the nail on the head with just about every aspect of this machine, from its design to its cooling solution.

The aluminium chassis used here is one of the best on the market. It looks fantastic, and it’s reasonably compact despite the powerful off-the-shelf hardware included inside. The unique shape makes it stand out from the crowd as well, and I think the design makes it well suited to being shown off on a desk, or in the living room.

Internally, the Corsair One is kitted out to the maximum. Entry-level buyers get a Core i7-7700 and a GTX 1070, while buyers who spend more than two grand pick up a GTX 1080 and an i7-7700K. The best part about the One is how every component is upgradeable, including the graphics card, motherboard and power supply. Some of these parts can be tricky to access, but you’ll be able to swap it all out in the future. This makes the upfront price point a bit easier to swallow.

The cooling solution is fantastic, providing plenty of thermal headroom for overclocking the CPU and GPU, while keeping reasonably quiet during load. It’s not a dead silent system, even at idle due to the liquid cooling pumps, but unless you place the One right next to you during games, it’s not a system that will bother you during operation.

In terms of performance, the Core i7-7700K and GTX 1080 in my review unit performed as expected. I managed to overclock the 7700K to 4.8 GHz without blowing up the cooler, while I gave the GTX 1080 an extra X MHz without struggle. In fact, the overclocking headroom on the GPU is fantastic thanks to the liquid cooler. The only real performance disappointment is the SSD, which is only SATA; there’s no room for an M.2 SSD in this system, which would have been a nice improvement.

In terms of price, the Corsair One does come with a standard pre-built system premium. A small form factor system I quickly whipped up on Newegg would set you back around $1,400 for the same hardware as the entry-level Corsair One, Other SFF systems like the MSI Trident 3 are cheaper as well, at closer to the mark. However, pre-built systems always come with a premium price point and this one is exceptionally well built.

My review model,  through the Corsair website, would set you back  if you built it yourself. The margin is similar to the entry-level model. Amazon sells the same system for  trading the 960GB SSD for a smaller 480GB SSD in combination with a 2TB HDD.

Corsair announced that its flagship small form factor (SFF) gaming PC, the Corsair One Pro, is now available with GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics, M.2 NVMe storage, and up to 32GB of DDR4 memory.

Originally, the Corsair One came in three different models; the One, One Pro, and One Ti. The basic One model was limited to air-cooled GTX 1070 graphics, whereas the Pro upgraded to liquid cooling and a GTX 1080. All three were equipped with 16GB of DDR4-2400 and varying capacities of Corsair’s Force LE 2.5” SATA SSDs for a primary storage volume. The One Ti was the only model available with a GTX 1080 Ti (also water cooled), but now the One Pro offers two models with the beastly flagship GPU, in addition to higher memory capacities and M.2 NVMe storage.

The new Corsair One Pro SFF gaming PCs still feature a liquid-cooled Intel Core i7-7700K on a custom MSI Z270 mini-ITX motherboard in the same sleek chassis. All three of the new models sport a 480GB M.2 NVMe SSD and a 2TB 2.5” HDD, increasing the total storage capacity (and potential performance with the NVMe storage device) over the previously available versions, which could feature up to a 1TB HDD and 960GB SATA SSD.

The bottom end of the spectrum features a liquid-cooled GTX 1080 graphics card and a 400W SFX power supply; the two more expensive models sport a liquid-cooled GTX 1080 Ti and a larger 500W PSU to accommodate the powerful graphics card. Previously, the One Ti featured a 400W PSU, and we’re glad to see a beefier power source added to the new GTX 1080 TI models.

Only at the top of the stack can you get 32GB (2x16GB) of DDR4-2400 memory, whereas the rest of the lineup features 16GB. However, the company also announced that all previous versions and future iterations of the Corsair One can now have its storage and memory upgraded by the end user without voiding the warranty, so you can move up to higher storage and memory capacities on your own without fear of losing warranty support on the other components.

The new Corsair One Pro models with 480GB M.2 NVMe SSDs are available now from the company’s website, starting at 16GB of DDR4-2400 memory, a liquid-cooled GTX 1080, and a 400W PSU. You can move up to a GTX 1080 Ti and a 500W power supply , or go all out with 32GB of DDR4 memory
