today we have the Patriot Viper 3 series memory for review 16 gigabytes in two sticks 8 gigabytes each this little kit here of ddr3 memory has basically the quality hand tested memory compatibility with your Intel and AMD processor of course it's available in other sizes if you wanted but this one here 1866 megahertz is what this is rated I have reviewed other versions of the viper 3 line before and this one here is no different taking a look at it right off the bat you

can see here the style the heat shield itself is beautiful it's nice to look at low voltage 1.5 volts is pretty nice actually and you can see the timings 10 11 10 and those are the timings that I'm gonna be using on my test machine in just a moment I'll show you but there are the specs again just if you're wondering about the height in case it hits one of your CPU coolers or anything

well the lifetime warranty no doubt about it but the unit dimensions there they are just below it and that's really pretty much it when it comes to looking at memory because it's really about performance here we are in my test system on Windows 8 here we are overclocking to the max a AMD machine to 4.7 gigahertz running it on a gigabyte board with the 16 gigs a patriot viper

3 series memory at those timings as specified using the XMP profiles as you can see right there predefined already in the bias makes it really easy for me now I was able to overclock the memory a little bit further to 975 megahertz so that was really nice to be able to push it a little bit further to the limits and that gives some great results on the benchmarks as you can see here in the max mem results for the scores okay so when we're talking about the copy the read the

write and the latency there were really good results now this kit is currently on newegg.com  okay for a 16 gigabyte kit is not bad at all okay considering that this is a high quality and reliable set of memory here is the 8s 64 cache and memory benchmark in case you're wondering about those read write and copy results as well you can see the latency up there and this is you know not necessarily the fastest memory of the VIPRE series line but

this is indeed performing really well and overclocks really well so that's what I'm trying to say that 4.7 gigahertz at those memory timings and that megahertz really proves that this is memory that has been tested is stable quality and definitely recommend it not sure if you guys have used vipre memory from patriot but it definitely does go fast and like I said if you're interested in purchasing it I'll add the link below so you can take a look at that I like to think Patriot memory for providing it.

the Patriot Viper 16 gigabyte 2 x 8 gigabyte kit I was just did your tree kit and you might be wondering why am I still buying ddr3 and this time the entire but it's basically for my basically 2nd PC that I have that I'll be doing an update on so this is gonna be for that and I found this on Fry's for pretty cheap  16 gigabytes of ddr3 at

1866 megahertz is that it's actually quite a decent price at this point in time because right now Ram prices are just ridiculously expensive so it might sound ridiculous but 110 for ddr3 16 gigabytes is actually a decent price at the moment so I'm just buying it anyways because how I don't have any other way of acquiring cheap around but yeah here it is from Patriot hopefully this works well there's not much of anything on the box except for some gibberish like

marketing stuff which is written in so many languages doesn't even make sense so for Intel 7 8 9 so zhc 77z 87 c 97 platforms XMP 2.0 and here it is so instead of like clamshell packaging as usual on those memory sticks so viper branding also green PCB yay I really don't like the green PCB so I'll try to do something about it maybe I'll try to use like some kind of a sharpie to make it black or something but I don't know I'll stay tuned for that anyways um here it is to

grab the ramp stick kits and themselves there's not much to show inside the packaging so this will be just a quick unwrapping basically a quick unboxing really quick one so here's the specifications if you want to see them so 1866 megahertz and also the timing is 10 11 10 32 X 8 gigabytes kit and if you want to see like 2 gram Daesan it's on both sides so and the heat saying is black so that's really nice and has lost a sticker but the bad thing is that the PCB is green but

otherwise a pretty decent decent looking kit if you don't just if you just ignore the green part but anyways yeah that's it for this unboxing there's not much on the box themselves so I guess you have this like Patriot Pie particular I guess if you're into that sort of thing .

the Patriot Viper 3 series this is brand new memory as you can see here 8 gigabyte kit from Patriot memory this has a custom heatsink very nice for overclocking so we're gonna get some advanced cooling like it says hand tested XMP 1.3 ready lifetime warranty here the dimensions in case you're wondering about it hitting your CPU cooler it's nicknamed black mamba in this case 1.5 volts which gives me some room to overclock and

increase the voltage if needed tested timings CL 11 bass best timings that you can get is probably CL 9 very lightweight as you can see here good lucks hollow top portion so if we just slide this here you can see the hollow interior so the heat is gonna dissipate night nicely if you're overclocking it and I had no worries with that this is the stable type of memory that you want when you're overclock your machine especially on the one that I have here which is overclocked

to 5 gigahertz so obviously can get this in different sizes 8 16 32 kits GB kits compatible with your until 6 or 7 series AMD 9 FM series I have the Intel Core i7 38 20 in this case which I overclocked on this Asus Republic of gamers board obviously if your board supports XMP you can have those predefined profiles set which makes things much easier when you try to test and make things stable I didn't have any problems overclocking with this memory you tried

different settings obviously you start off with one lower bandwidth and then you make your way up so at 1600 megahertz you said it or 1866 you start low and then you make your way up and try to tweak it now as you can see this is what I'm running right now in Windows 8 that's what I use to test this memory you can see I'm running the CPU at 5 gigahertz on this Asus board that I mentioned and of course the memory timings that I've started off to use was the

CL 9 so 9 924 however I left it at basically at 1866 or at 1600 so I started at a lower bandwidth you can see here the aida64 cache and memory benchmark so the read the write the copy very fast latency 45 point 3 nanoseconds as you can see so this is very fast memory definitely recommend that if you're looking for speedy speedy performance and it goes very well obviously when you're overclocking because you don't want the memory to be slow and then

you're you know portions of your PC are fast but not not others so you want everything to be fast right so it all can can keep up with each other so there is the memory and the the bandwidth and the timings you can see the latency there that it's scored on CL 9 now I did go back into the bias I did change it to CL 11 okay so we did go back and change that using the same you know CPU configuration same board and everything but in this case we change the

memory timings to 11 11 11 27 as you can see there okay so a little bit slower obviously but you get more bandwidth so we're running now the memory at the highest setting possible so we can get more data being pushed faster now as you can see here those are the aida64 timings very good results there on those benchmarks as you can see and ADA it didn't have any problems in ranking it right at the top which is what I like to see basically on these synthetic benchmarks on

w prime again very good results maybe it shaves off a couple of milliseconds when you increase the memory bandwidth but not too much there it's really stable and that was the whole point of this video is to show you the type of memory that I used in the overclocking of the machine to 5 gigahertz very fast memory very stable good for overclocking definitely recommend that I'll add via a link to the latest pricing below comment let me know what you think .
