EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB SC GAMING 03G-P4-6162-KR review

Pros
High-quality 1080p gaming
Incredibly power efficient
Affordable and available

Cons
3GB of RAM isn't very future proof
Limited RAM already requires texture compromises in some games.

The EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card is loaded with innovative new gaming technologies, making it the perfect choice for the latest high-definition games. Powered by NVIDIA Pascal - the most advanced GPU architecture ever created - the GeForce GTX 1060 delivers brilliant performance that opens the door to virtual reality and beyond.

These cards also feature EVGA ACX cooling technology. EVGA ACX once again brings new and exciting features to the award winning EVGA ACX cooling technology. Of course, ACX coolers also feature optimized swept fan blades, double ball bearings and an extreme low power motor, delivering more airflow with less power, unlocking additional power for the GPU.

WHY DOUBLE BALL BEARINGS?

EVGA ACX 2.0 fans use double ball bearings, which offer 4X longer lifespan than the sleeve bearing fans used by competiors. The oil that is used in sleeve bearing fans makes them vulnerable and prone to failure after time when the oil dries up. Upgrade to EVGA ACX 2.0 and your card will go the distance!

excellent what's up guys and welcome to my quick review of the EVGA gtx 1060 superclocked the 6 gig version mind you not the lowly 3 gig version that shouldn t be called a 1060 but coming in just  more than in reviews  MSRP this card has some standout features that make it a great choice in the mid range if your patience just click link for it down in the review description .

just say so let's start with aesthetics and I'd like to say that this card looks pretty nice I will say that this card looks pretty nice it is a dual slot open cooler with a single fan it's black with some silver accents and lettering no LEDs to be seen on the card which is fine by me and also no backplate so the 7-inch reference design PCB is exposed but since it's black it's not hideous or anything like that since the 1060 uses the reference PCB but not the original reference blower

cooler the whole card is just shy of 7 inches long about 175 millimeters and the 6 pin PCI Express power connector is down here at the end of the PCB the only real difference between this and the reference PCB design which uses the reference uses an extension put that out at the end of the blower cooler anyway though beyond that we've got identical specs to all gtx 1066 g8 cards with a Pascal GP 106 GPU doing the heavy lifting built on 16 nanometer Pascal

architecture with 4.4 billion transistors the GP 106 is paired with 6 gigabytes 192 bit gddr5 memory at 8000 megahertz effective clock speed and rounding out the specs you have 10 streaming multi processors 1280 CUDA cores 80 texture units 192 gigabytes per second of memory bandwidth 48 wraps and a 120 watt TDP sadly there is no SLI bridge on this card so no traditional SLI support but that was in videos call whether you like it or not so deal with it

and video outs finally our three display ports 1 points fours 1 HDMI 2.0 B and one DVI just like the 1080 and 1070 that came before it for overclocking I of course used EVGA precision X utility and ended up tacking on a 95 mega Hertz GPU clock offsets and a 250 megahertz bump to the memory clock and with the power and temp sliders next at stock the cards base clock is 6 seven and the boost is 1835 but with that overclock just mentioned it jumped up to seventy no

to base nineteen thirty boost and twenty one hundred max that max o'clock can be deceptive those after temps evened out the stable loose o'clock was about two thousand thirty seven to two thousand fifty megahertz on average which is pretty standard for a GTX 1060 temperatures were very reasonable considering how small the cooler is hitting seventy nine C under full load so just a little bit cooler than the reference design that is while overclocked

though and with the fan speed also will overclocked ranging from forty to fifty one percent here's some fan noise testing so you can hear for yourself we're going to start with idle here's 45 percent fan speed about the average I was at while gaming here's 70 percent fan speed and here's 100% proving that no one wants to run their fan 100% all the time because it's loud

moving on to benchmarks I tested this card at 1920 by 1080 which is the proper resolution for this GPU and here are my results ,okay it is conclusion time and I think the biggest question you'll want to ask yourself is should you get a gtx 1066 gig or @rx 488 gig and that is a tough choice the 1066 gig is clearly faster right now when tested across a range of games old and new but the Ark's 480 has shown some promising gains and titles to implement

certain DirectX 12 features the leveraged asynchronous compute availability is also a concern with my quick and purely anecdotal look at current stock levels on new egg this morning revealing that seven of nine rx 480 models are in stock while just 6 of 13 gtx 1066 gig variants are in stock with the superclocked model being one of the unavailable ones all that said if you

want the right now performance of the gtx 1060 i think this is a very good choice its small and quiet enough for HTPC use or small form-factor builds overclocking was right up there in the same range with larger moreover built cards although sustained clocks will probably be just a little bit lower than ones with a larger cooling solution and  again it's just  more than

the MSRP whereas other variants of the 1066 gig want 300 bones or more which is a significant markup at this price I would love to hear what you guys think of this card though so leave me your comments down in the comments section below links to this card on Amazon .

the EVGA GTX 1063 gigabyte gaming is the first three gigabyte model I could get my hands on the overall quality is what you would expect from a budget card it sports a standard 90 millimeter fan surrounded by a visually satisfying shroud underneath the shroud is a standard heatsink design that is much cleaner than some of its competitors come on guys we don't need copper pipes popping out of our cards when they're just  cards or do we and do we need more than three gigabytes that's the questions today stick around display options include three

DisplayPort 1.4 ports a single HDMI 2.0 B port and a single dual link DVI next we have a 6 pin power adapter with a sad 3+1 power phase that offers an advertised max power draw of 120 watts however during testing the card drew up to a hundred and 40 watts max so it's definitely under shooting how much it's actually pulling from your system even crazier is the fact that this is hands-down the best overclocking card in the Pascal line that I have gotten my hands on yet while I experienced no crashing or artifacting during my testing I am wondering if there is

something off with this particular card because of its extra wattage usage in temps during testing on stock fan profiles the card got relatively hot for third-party coolers max temps got very close to 90 degrees Celsius capping out at 87 degrees Celsius luckily if you decide to crank fan up to a hundred percent it is relatively quiet only hitting 12 decibels above my ambient room noise so maybe those copper pipes are worth it under the hood the card sports a fifteen

hundred and six megahertz boost clock which we were able to push to a whopping twenty one hundred and thirty nine megahertz with overclocking it communicates with three gigabytes of gddr5 memory over a hundred ninety-two bit bus at 8000 megahertz effective clock that easily overclocked to 80 400 megahertz all the benchmarks are run in 1080p at highest available settings unless those settings are specific to either AMD or nvidia for example pure hair in rise

of the Tomb Raider starting with Gears of War Ultimate Edition the three gigabyte of the gtx 1060 it's a hundred and sixteen point three frames per second once again showing the improvements in the api and engine in preparation for what I hope is Gears of War 4 even still the GTX 1060 can't beat out the RX 480 times by graphics test one scores forty four point six five frames per second falling in line between the RX 470 and 480 this seems to be what I was

expecting from this card however surprisingly enough the three gigabyte gaming beats out both cards in time spy graphics test 2 with thirty-six point nine nine frames per second not everything is rainbows and sunshine for the three gigabytes of missing vram on the gtx 1060 it's extremely noticeable in rise of the Tomb Raider as it falls down to 25 point 4 frames per second granted there are warnings not to attempt to run it at these settings however it's important to

note that extra gigabyte of RAM in the similarly priced rx 470 definitely comes in handy here the vram advantage continues in Forza Motorsport 6 apex beta where the three gigabyte card reaches a playable 59.7 7 frames per second but falls significantly short of the cards with more available vram thanks to the wonderful optimizations in Doom the 3 gigabyte 1060 barely loses ground to its bigger brother the gtx 1066 gigabyte or whatever the we're calling it with a

massive 120 frames per second hitman showed similar results as a three giga by GT x10 60 barely fell short of both the 470 and it's bigger brother pulling in 63 frames per second vulcan is looking better and better in the talus principle as the 3 gigabyte version of the GTX 1060 hit 78 frames per second which is right on par with its bigger brother the Nvidia optimized Total War Warhammer gave the 3 gigabyte version of the GTX 1060 an advantage over both AMD

competitors with 37 point 7 frames per second so what do I think well the EVGA GTX 10 63 gigabyte gaming comes into a weird shifting GPU market where prices aren't even quite settled in while it's obviously meant to be a competitor to the 4 gigabyte version of the RX 480 it often falls short of the 20 dollar cheaper RX 474 gigabyte version while it shines in some areas like

noise levels it still runs hot without custom fan profiles with an emphasis on vram lately for textures I still do think that 8 gigabytes is overkill for 1080p gaming but it's obvious that 3 gigabytes is not enough therefore I can't recommend this GPU over its competitors or its bigger brother thanks for watching guys let me know if you think that 3 gigabytes of vram is enough

EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB SC GAMING 03G-P4-6162-KR review

today's reviw is brought to you by towel clean the world's cleanest toothbrush now why you're saying is that the cleanest toothbrush well the towel clean not only cleans your teeth it also cleans a toothbrush itself and makes it the world's cleanest toothbrush the base has a UVC light to eliminate 99.9% of the bacteria and it also as a brush head dryer that keeps bacteria from ever coming back and the charger is all-in-one so everything's nice and ergonomic the sonic toothbrush figures forty thousand strokes per minute and it's architectural design looks great

on the countertop in any bathroom the towel clean also features two modes and comes in two different colors white and black currently the towel clean is also very easy to use you simply plug it in insert your toothbrush upside down and here it keeps it clean and away from the environment your bathroom so you never have to worry about it getting dirty ever again and what's even better tech fans is right now you guys can get 50% off with a discount code that will have down below so check out the towel clean for yourself and keep that potty mouth clean

what's up Tech fans how about a little rock in your diet so Tech fans what's up welcome to the rockin edition of the EVGA overclocked edition of the 1060 card we're also going to check out it's a little brother to standard edition so now let's jump in let's check out what comes in the box and then see what this card is all about so first up folks you guys remember the founders addition the 1016 this car was pretty good it overclocked okay but with the fan turned to full

blasts and the electricity turned up to maximum this card you know was running a little bit loud making a lot of noise now this card is a card from EVGA that's Jacek Liege asically asically it's a brand new web created basically it's like basically but only jeweler cooler nunna anyways this card right here is basically a little bit lower than a founders Edition this is really the total entry-level card from EVGA on the 1060 series so if you're looking for card though that you're going to slap in your system you're not going to worry about overclocking it you just

want to save the cash this is the card you might want to check out but for day we're actually here to check out the a CX 2.0 version of the gtx 1060 and this thing has some pretty amazing numbers now inside the box probably going to see you'll see your standard stuff in here your cables cables are here one cable room with cables let's here get the card itself though so cut the card out the box there's not really much too much for the voxi unboxing fans out there looking

for a grand unboxing there's just not too much in the box blocks from the box back in the box side of the box other side of the box and then the key box at the frickin camera man missed him by that much but anyways okay so then what we got here for the accessories and inside the bag a dual molex to 6-pin power connector that's in there we do have another poster again once again which is always cool we're getting ready to build our new test area so we will have lots of room for cool posters like this one let me try to open it up so you folks can check it out let me

open it up ever so sawyers you don't rip it or break it open this bad boy up and slow my hair not to mess it up ten tenten tenten try to do this right here hopefully I'm getting most of this out here hope you go folks can see this so hunters like bring it up and out well crazy poster but anyways art you get this crazy biggle gigantis or poster for your wall so if you do that type of shiz Nick and you want cool for your wall then okay Evie J's got you covered on that one also

come with some stickers bunch of different types for your overclocking all that good stuff few people out there who like stickers you've got your basically cue your what's this uh just a manual by how to plug it in basically nobody really needs that I don't think any my audience anyways the EVGA look case emblem for sticking your case if you're down with that and then last but not least another little users guide yeah and then last but not least will take the card out

of its anti-static little bag right there and then we can start checking out the card itself and as you guys can see there's just the EVGA logo and a single fan on the front now as far as the card sizing in the length of the card is six point eight inches in the height of the card is four point three seven six inches and like most cards in the market it also features a dual slot design as we turn the card to the side you guys can see it says the EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 it says SC right

there and lighting on the right and also above that is a single six pin power connector and on the back of the card I'm a little bummed because I can't hit cuz there's no backplate mmm-hmm what's not BBJ no pack wait how I love all right moving on anyways though um that's pretty much it I mean on the rear i/o you guys can see there's a single DVI connector a lot of people like that you also see a single HDMI port and three display ports around the side of the

card you guys can see the heat fins permeating it around the edge and there's also a few heat pipes underneath there as well to keep the card running nice and cool so that's what the card looks like now let's check out the speeds and feeds inside the superclocked gtx 1060 we see 1280 pixel pipelines we also see a base clock of sixteen hundred and seven megahertz and a boost clock speed of eighteen hundred and thirty five megahertz the card also features six gigabytes

of gddr5 memory with 192 bit memory interface and the memory speed is eight thousand and eight megahertz which equates to 192 gigabytes a second of total bandwidth it's also recommended that you use a minimum of a for the watt power supply to power up this superclocked bad boy all right so that's what the card looks like it's speeds and feeds now we test the card at its standard clock speeds and then we also overclocked this car to 2100

megahertz and we have both those scores along with others you can see how this card performs so with that said let's jump in check out the test system and the rock out to the benchmark song and see how the superclocked Edition rocks for you our test is inconsistency 700k that we keep always running in turbo mode at 4.4 gigahertz we're also using an AZ rock motherboard and a bit of rip job memory also folks before we bounce out of here wanna once again send a special

thank you out to Tao clean for bringing this video possible and like usual out a link down below to that 50% off coupon I folks old there you have it the super clock edition by e VJ of the GPX 1060 now this thing performs really well and runs really cool you guys can see that even overclocked to 2100 megahertz this thing never got over 65 Celsius and that's running this in the desert where it's very very very hot now as far as the fan speeds go we at the fan speeds at

aggressive and we also had the voltage set at the high settings to achieve this nothing else was done this is pretty much just rather box a couple clicks on a screen and boom that instant awesome overclock so this thing totally kicks ass on the founders edition I mean it's pretty much like a founders edition totally done right at the end of the day I got to say this card is a serious serious editor's choice if you're looking for an enjoyable car that's  you don't

want to break the bank and you want something awesome this is the cards you're gonna want to check out also if you guys want to see the full written review and even more testing check out my blog.
