as the title says today we're going to talk about another Logitech new mechanical keyboard this is DG 815 RGB mechanical gaming keyboard with GL clicky switches now last time we did G 909 15 and they were tactile and linear and I said we're going to do the clicky ones well I have prepared the G 915 as well gl clicky but today we're going to talk about G 815 because it's a wired version of DG 915 and I'm actually really curious you know just test that out and to see everything to get some diversity on these switches because these are clicky and those were linear and tactile the box compared to G 915 is bigger of course because you have attached cable now we have some difference when it comes to G 815 and G 915 and the differences it has a WSB you have a braided cable and this is the reason G 915 since its violence it can't have a
dedicated USB port on the keyboard since this is a wired version of course you have one and it's right here at the back now I'm really fascinated as always when it comes to sticking foil on products and taking it all but the design is definitely immaculate I have to say it's very thin as you can see and you have two legs here to adjust the height of the keyboard so you can adjust it as you wish you can switch the second one behind like right before even touching the smaller ones so that's not a problem at all so the highest one let's see the thing that I said earlier is that you well I set it on G 915 you don't need the palm rest here too use the keyboard because it's so thin your hands are right on the table and there's no too much there's not too much distance
from the table and the keyboard as you write so basically yeah it's quite a right I mean when you have a keyboard that is like this one over here the G 10 G 4 10 it's a completely different story because it's not a slinky board and you have standard keycaps now this one has is completely slim let's go into more details as I said 5 G buttons from G 1 2 G 5 you have memory buttons on top M 1 M 2 M 3 and the M R also you have D gaming button to switch off any buttons that might come in a way of gaming and you have the like button for your RGB to
switch it on or off on the right side on the complete right side above the numerical pad you have the multimedia buttons so play pause and stuff like that and of course you have the new school that they place for volume basically this is it when it comes to visual aspects at the back right here near the scroll wheel you have that USB port now I mentioned a couple of times in the past videos why do they have to use these they dedicated one USB strictly for this USB port so it doesn't interfere with standard communication when it comes to keyboard and your computer this way keyboard has dedicated USB and the USB port on the keyboard has dedicated USB so
it kind of let's say lag free no problem with transferring data no problem with for instance if you want to use a wireless mouse like Gina hundred or something like that and it kinda is really cool to have a dedicated USB because I don't know you can use a wireless mouse you could do a transfer of your files or something like that anything above the f9 and have 12 buttons you have the caps lock and unlock light so you could know if something is turned on there is a screw button here squawk as well but you don't have a standard button like standard LED light like
you usually do so let's connect it to my computer and they'll test the click sound now do have to admit one thing when it comes to RGB and keyboards that actually have them not the standard single color backlight I usually find it skeptical because you know I have two huge soft boxes right here and they're shining crazy I mean they're it's really extreme light otherwise if I turn them off it will be almost a complete dark here even though I have one more light above me and the thing is sometimes I don't see the RGB lights on the keyboard and that's that's kind of disappointing right I mean even though you know when you play games during the night that means if the RGB is really that strong with these soft boxes at night it will probably burst your
eyes just kidding of course but let's take a look at this currently this is the craziness of the RGB on DG 815 and it does light up really nicely even though these so boxes are really really bunching the light on the keyboard and I can see it fairly nicely also there's one more thing when I take a picture with my Canon m50 on the RGB keyboards that have everything you know light not usually I have to turn off these soft boxes and we'll curious how this will look but in any case all the Logitech keyboards that I accused tested and stuff like that they never had problems with the lights they really have nice vivid colors and even the key caps look
magnificent from the end from under it so here is the key cap is fairly easy to remove you don't need a key cap remover the switches are normal as they have a really nice sound it's it's not that it's not that crazy razor clicking which I really hate this one is really nice and and I really don't mind a manager's it has a really different sound significantly different sound from the older romaji switches because I have that one right here and these switches are really nice I think there is no need for extra words when it comes to Logitech and their gaming keyboards definitely they be the Magnificent work with DG 815 this is a wired are to be mechanical gaming keyboard with low profile definitely and I gained on it and tested it and I had no problems with what you call it fingers stuck in between the key caps the transaction when you
move your fingers while typing is very smooth so there's no need to worry about if you're going to make a mistake while typing it's just so easy and the clicking sound the clicky the GL clicky makes a really nice sound not annoying sound definitely but it gives you know the feel of mechanical it gives the sound of the mechanical keyboard as for the feel it gives you forced back it gives you a slight force feedback and you do feel that you're pressing the key cap and definitely without a doubt it's not like you're just how can I say it just pushing it through without any force you do need to use some force but it's it's not that it's going to make you want to change a keyboard from this one this is definitely if you don't like Wireless stuff but
definitely if you're into a wired stuff wild keyboard this is the keyboard and I know some of you might say I don't like flat keyboards I don't like flat key caps you have to go into a store which has it and you need to test that this is definitely something different something out of this world and I really love it I just hope and I'll repeat myself from the G 9:15 I just hope they make a dkl version of this keyboard that's it links are below you can check the prices at the Logitech web store at the Logitech website and amazon
Logitech G815 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (Linear) review
I'm bringing you a review of the Logitech g8 1/5 keyboard this is a low profile mechanical keyboard now why am i reviewing this keyboard because I am one of those rare people that absolutely loved the old Mac chiclet keyboards they've discontinued those and I was I've been searching for a long time now to find the perfect keyboard this is the last last of my Mac keyboards and pretty much half of the keys don't work you can see it's a mess like this thing and went through some hell but I loved it it just it had a good feel to it all the keys felt really nice there was nowhere to go and it has a clique to it it's not mechanical but it has that youknow you get a little bit of a feeling to it which is nice so I was hoping that mechanical keyboards as they've advanced could offer something similar I've tried this when I've tried that when I've tried clicky I've tried linear I've tried browns I've tried all sorts of different keyboards and I just couldn't find one that I liked I was finding that a lot of the keys were too big the amount of pressure you had to put down was too much and I would often stumble across the keyboard a lot so I was looking at all the low profile mechanical keyboards out there and up until now there haven't been a lot of options up until now and that is where the g8 1/5
mechanical keyboard from Logitech comes in ,so as you can see right out of the box this thing is just absolutely gorgeous it is really low-profile compared to what I've seen out there and I'm glad that low-profile mechanical keyboards are starting to take off for people like me who like to have less travel smaller keys in a smaller profile keyboard although this is a full-size keyboard so it's a little bigger than what some people might like but I actually like full-size keyboards because I use this a lot if anything I could get rid of this because I don't do macros
but this is kind of handy in some games it's got two settings on the back to lift it you can do a small one like that or you can do a larger one like that we can just do it flat like this the entire width of this thing is about that of an iPhone or two-thirds of a penny which is insane the keys have a very short distance to travel which is great all of them feel really solid nothing Wiggles nothing wobbles they all have nice indentations so you feel the keys and overall it's just a really nice presentation I mean the RGB on this thing alone is absolutely stunning I can go into an entire video that just talks about the customizations through the RGB I'll show you a little bit
of it in a second but I'll also give you a sound test for each keyboard right now if you look at my desk I'm actually using the linear and I feel like that one is the best feeling for me the tactile felt a little bit muddy some people like the Browns because of that click I like the linear because it's instant up whereas the Browns it takes a little bit longer and since they're low-profile I felt like you didn't need to have that like tactile click to it you just needed to hit the bottom since it's so close to hitting the bottom now the clicky I actually really like the sound of the clicky and I like the feel of the clicky too so I feel like I can go in between the linear there clicky which is weird
because normally I would hate the clicky one because it's very loud but this because it's low-profile it doesn't really make that much noise and the feeling just feels really nice to me so I think at this point we should probably listen to what the keys sound like I've been enjoying my typing on this I'm back to my fast typing speed that I would get from my Chiclets Apple keyboard I know that sounds crazy a lot of people don't like those keyboards but I loved it and when they discontinued it I was like oh my god what do I do and I looked at all these mechanical keyboards and I was like oh the keys are too high my fingers would get
caught on the sides of them and I just I couldn't get used to him now this is the first low profile keyboard that I've gotten used to and I absolutely freaking love it it's like they made it for me specifically and I'm really I'm really happy about that it has a ton of functions got macro buttons it's got different settings that you can set up here it's got macro record it has the ability to go into game mode so it turns off certain buttons that you set it has brightness adjustments and it has a volume up and down which will adjust your your computer instantly no lag it's got fast-forward pause play mute all that stuff really nice to have those functions so why don't we jump into some of the RGB effects that you can do for the mechanical keyboard because they're really awesome this has got to be the coolest addition to the Logitech systems that I've seen in a
long time I think that they have a very good software here so obviously you can see that I have the c920 camera from Logitech I have the G 502 and here's the g8 one five now check out all the different options here so you've got your presets where I can do like a ripple effect you can turn it off you do fixed lighting you can go with cycle you can go with a color wave where it's gonna wave around you can do breathing you can set those colors you can set them to anything you want anywhere like you could just you drag across anywhere like you want ugly-ass orange there you go it can actually take a sample from your screen and match it to that which is like wow that's really cool you've got free style which is awesome where you can actually paint in
where you want the keys to be so for me I made the WASD green I made the left side purple so that didn't confuse the control in the g5s and then I made all the keys that weren't necessarily important the teal and then the important keys the pink and it helps if you look down real quick and you need a reference and it's super simple like you can just go in here pick red for instance and that's that's your brush and say you want to fill a group and you go okay well I want to fill up that entire thing is red or I want to go back to the the pink but you can go one at a time you can select a bunch yeah there's a lot of customization that can happen on here and
it's very helpful then you've got animations it's just there's so many different options here that this is its own review right so I think that that is definitely the best part of this keyboard because you have so many options to play with it and to really customize it to the way you want and that's not even going into like key assignments yet you can go into here and you can set up you know these different keys you know you can pick you can pick you know the different profiles so you have the M 1 and M 2 and M 3 you can you know change what those profiles change things to you there it is endless here you have the keys you have the actions you have the macros you have the system you have you can do everything with this and then you have game mode
where if you gamemode it'll turn off the Windows key and those extra keys which is awesome so I mean there's just a ton of stuff going on in here if you want customization this suite has it not only that but it also plugs into your other things and so you can match you know all your colors with your mouse and stuff like that as you can see I have the same pink on the mouse as I have on my g8 1/5 so yep very cool software doesn't take up a lot of memory and runs very smooth so for the pros on this keyboard I would have to say that the low profile design works really well the indents on all the keys are really nice the feeling on the keys is really nice the travel distance is just the right amount and the feedback you get from the keyboard is definitely good some of the downsides of it is those macro keys on the left I often get caught hitting the G
key instead of the ctrl key when I'm copying and pasting stuff we're doing commands and that that's kind of annoying I'm actually color coded my keyboard so that it gives me more of a visual idea of where my hand is if I do mess it up so if if it were up to me I would completely get rid of the G keys on the left because it's hard to get used to that because usually you go all the way to the left to grab that control key but on this that's a G key one of the things I think they can improve on is definitely the symbols on the number keys they're not lit up and while I get it because there's no like LED bleed from that at night time I don't know where those all are by heart like I I just don't and so I'm often like squinting and leaning down trying to figure out
you know where the hell is the @ key or where's the dollar sign or stuff like that I wish those were lit up as well so in terms of looks it's absolutely gorgeous I think it looks fantastic I think it's absolutely one of the better-looking keyboards I've ever had in terms of customizability wow man the RGB and the macro keys and the media keys it's got it all in terms of feel I just it's it's a personal preference but man I just love that low-profile feeling and I really like what Logitech's done with their different keys to me the clicky and the Lee are my favorites tactile was just a little bit muddy for my liking now the one thing that may turn some people off but I think that it actually is justified is the price the non wireless version is the wireless version
is now that sounds like a huge amount of money to pay for a mechanical keyboard but if you think about it it's a very unique keyboard that not a lot of companies are offering the low profile keyboard and they did it right I think as more low profile keyboards come out I think that that price may drop a bit and then you know it'll become more affordable to everyone but for someone that's on the computer all the time and it the keyboard is one of the most important things to me I can justify the price tag and I might even justify for the wireless because I feel like the wireless has some benefits too because it has a Bluetooth button
and you can switch between your phone and wireless button to switch back to your computer on the fly if somebody's texting me a lot and I could just quickly swap over to my keyboard and text back like that Oh that'll be godsends overall I just think Logitech kind of knocked it out of the park with this keyboard it looks beautiful it feels really nice the low profile is spot-on and they really just found that niche that needed to be filled with mechanical keyboards it really comes down to feel on these keyboards so if you can try these out or you can go somewhere and
you can test it out I'd suggest that and see how it feels to you and then you justify if it's worth the price to you but for something that you're using so often and something that is so important and integral in our lives these days which is computers I think that the price is definitely worth it is it on the high end absolutely but is it worth it for someone like me yes yeah
if you are a gamer and this is where Logitech G's G 815 keyboard a brand new premium keyboard aimed specifically at gamers so what is this keyboard like is it with your moolah let's find out the keyboards packaging is pretty decent it has the main keyboard on the front with the g8 15 logo it tells you all about the keyboard back there is even a pretty cool little side bit which gives the actual dimensions of the keyboard just slip off the main a simple black box with Logitech G logo and Pleasant on a piece of cardboard take that off and there is the keyboard itself and I must be honest it's actually quite a beautiful looking if you take the keyboard out there really isn't much else in the box with the exception of and some user material and documents and a Logitech G sticker I'll be honest when I first saw the Logitech G G 815
keyboard I was impressed it is a beautiful looking made out of an anodized aluminium on the front with a plastic back it really feels premium in the hand and it's in a basement it's actually quite weighty as well so this is a close look to see just how this keyboard differs to other keyboards in the market first things first this is a full-fledged keyboard this means that in addition to all of the traditional keys that most keyboards have it also features a lamp pad as well as a variety of other keys spread across the front of the unit most notably above the number had the g8 15 has a really great volume rocker made out of the same anodized
aluminium as the front of the keyboard it feels cool to the touch it is easy to roll and is just super useful directly below the volume rocker or for media keys these allow you to fast-forward rewind play pause as well as mute audio and I must be honest it is quite evident that Logitech took some time in designing this keyboard because having the media Keys directed below the volume rocker is just insanely useful and 100% logical and it really is a great design choice in addition to all of the standard function keys that your keyboards have the g8 15 also has 5 unique GE keys these can all be programmed using the Logitech G hub all those should have been designed for games whereby you can use them to bring up certain weapons or inventory
items and so on and so forth I actually found them to be super useful through a Productivity perspective and this is honestly an area where the G 815 keyboard in my opinion not only excelled but really surprised me I wasn't expecting to use it in that circumstance and when I did to be incredibly useful being able to switch between design apps and other productivity apps just at a moment's notice with a single button press really helped elevate this keyboard above others in addition to the G keys it also has four rubberized macro keys on the top of the keyboard now another great thing with these is that these can be programmed within the Logitech G hub software for games as well as productivity and once again this really surprised I absolutely love the fact that the jihad' software is not linked excusive is video games and that
allows you to basically use any application on your computer for whatever purpose you like to be programmed on the keyboard itself therefore making it infinitely useful right next to those keys are two additional tools one meant for gamers and the other one the light sync key the gaming key is essentially a disabled button key allowing you to disable buttons that aren't used for games whereas the lighter sync key allows you to turn light sync on and off or adjust the brightness in terms of light sync the different profiles can be selected in the Logitech G hub and there quite a few to pick from one of which I must mention which is the echo profile and it's one of my personal favorites and essentially it allows you to pick a base color for your keyboard and
then as you type a different color appears and it just gives a really cool fading effect in terms of light sink support much like other light sync products the G 8:15 keyboard is able to reproduce upwards of 16 million colors and they can all be programmed to your liking whether that's making your keyboard look like diva suit an over watch or perhaps just whatever background you're currently using your desktop those options are available to you and I love the fact that Logitech has allowed this keyboard so customizable in terms of the rest of the keys on the keyboard they're made out of a smooth shiny black plastic at first glance it looks fantastic however and this is a big one they are literal fingerprint magnets this means that as great as this keyboard looks the more you use it the worse it's going to look so I highly recommend that if you do get this that you have a cleaning cloth available because it really does pick up oils
from hands quite a bit Logitech G 815 keyboard is also a wired keyboard with a direct USB connection to your computer this means there is no input lag which is perfect for people who need those twitch responses for games in terms of the cable itself it is a really thick braided and really well-made cable it looks durable and it has two USB connections on it essentially one connection is to connect to your computer so that you can actually use the keyboard and power it whereas the second connection is used for the USB pass-through which the keyboard has not only is it great for inserting USB thumb drives but you can also use it for a USB headset or perhaps the USB mouse there for taking up less USB spots on your actual computer it's really
good that way although the top of the keyboard is aluminium the keys are plastic and the back of the keyboard is also plastic this also means that the legs which you can use to prop up your keyboard to an elevation that is most comfortable to you are also classic despite this they seem quite robust it is also quite sturdy it doesn't really have much give which I really really like bend it it's really really quite a sturdy device and it means that no matter what you do with it when you throw it across the room and ragequit one of your games this keyboard is going to you to survive one of the most interesting elements of the g8 15 is how it very much resembles laptop and by this I mean it has a very very low and thin profile this is attributed to logitech's
GL switches which are now featured in the Logitech G range of keyboards these new switches have a pretty cool heritage if you do look into it it is a little bit confusing because it has to do with how Logitech once used romaji keys and cheriya mixers and then eventually went and develop their own thus creating the GL switches that we have today and I can personally say I think that Logitech have done a fantastic job from the accentuation on the keys to the way that they move and the throughput it genuinely feels very good under the head whether you gaming or typing out a long word document I have found that the keys work exceptionally well and this is what gives the Logitech G a 15 such a wonderfully thin and premium feeling profile in terms of Logitech CL switches that are available on the G 815 keyboards there are three different
kinds to take note on the first is the GL linear switch this is effectively the stealth switch in Logitech G is liner please don't reach any tectile feedback and feature smooth keystrokes from top to bottom then you get the GL click ease that this is on the other end of the spectrum versus the GL Union these have a very hefty tactile bump and make quite a loud key press when crest and lastly there's the GL tactile which fits in between the linear and the clicky essentially giving you the best of both worlds because it's from what I understand these give you a little bit of a bump midway through your press and have a decent sound unfortunately I didn't have the GL tactile on hand to test but I was lucky enough to receive both the GL linear and the GL tricky and I think we should listen to at birth of him Sam overall I have been really impressed the Logitech G 815 keyboard so now it comes down to whether or not I think is worth the price so
the G 815 County and to be frank that is on the higher side of the keyboard spectrum with that said and speaking of the keyboard from not just a gaming perspective but also from a Productivity perspective which really surprised me I would say that at least in my use case scenario the keyboard is absolutely worth it it has a phenomenal bulb it is a bit strong and sturdy it feels good under the hand and again I know that I keep mentioning the productivity aspect of this keyboard but it genuinely surprised me I mean I
came into this review expecting the G 815 just to be a good gaming keyboard and yet I came away impressed by just how customizable it is from a Productivity and work perspective so in that regard to myself I think that this keyboard is worth the money
