CORSAIR Scimitar Pro RGB - MMO Gaming Mouse review

PROSPlenty of programmable buttons.
Excellent performance; customizable.
Amazing build quality.
CONS
Not recommended for XL hands in palm grip; small hands in fingertip grip.

what's up guys  today we're going to review the new Corsair scimitar pro RGB mouse and taking a look at it you can see with all these side buttons it's obviously advertised as a MOBA or an MMO Mouse but we're going to take a look at it in this review for you guys go over its features talk about what is new in this pro version some pros and cons all that good stuff in case you want to pick up the Scimitar pro first off visually it looks exactly the same as the original

scimitar it's a little bit on the bigger side I'd say at 4.7 inches long and a little over 3 inches wide so depending on your hand size you might need to kind of change up your grip it's definitely want to be heavier my side used however it's still comfortable to use on the right side of the mouth you have this kind of textured grip for your ring and pinky finger to rest on so that's

good going over the buttons on top you have your dpi in profile switching button below the scroll wheel then the main selling point like I said on the left side of the mouse where your thumb sits are those 12 mechanical buttons so these are obviously going to be great for performing macros or certain functions when gaming now the box is already programmed for you you can switch up between the three profiles instantly so pretty much you think about it

you have 36 macros at your thumbs reach at all time additionally inside the box being put a little hex key because on the bottom there's a little screw that you can loosen to kind of let the macro buttons there slide back and forth around this eight millimeter travel distance here let's just so you can kind of adjust that to get the most comfortable grip for pressing those buttons with your thumb that's something really unique on a mouse so I can definitely appreciate the

innovation and before we move on you know when I do a lot of my keyboard reviews I often do sound test you could hear how it's sound since there's a lot of buttons in the Scimitar Pro I figured why not do a sound test for the mouse as well , so what's new with this pro version of the Scimitar versus the original let's talk about that for a minute first of all I already mentioned out of the box all the 12 buttons on the side come pre-programmed for you which is great but obviously you can still go into the software and change it up or you know make your

own macros that you please we also now have hardware playback so your profiles even things like some of the lighting effects are saved on board which means you can take this Mouse to a different PC your friend's house and everything that you have saved on a map it's going to be already configured for you and then most importantly evolve by using a brand new picsArt sensor inside I'm pretty sure a lot of the newer Logitech mice use a similar Pixar sensor that's

great because the G 502 which is my main Mouse has that same sensor inside so having that consistency a very accurate sensor is going to be great for gaming , here they're using a pmw 3367 and they bumped up a DPI from 12,000 to 16,000 now now say what you want about the high DPI is being a marketing gimmick or whatever but if you think about it we're in 2017 and we're having these very high-resolution displays now and often people have more than one I

have three high-res displays behind me for my gaming setup so I can kind of justify the higher 16,000 dpi a little bit more now am I using all three when I'm gaming no odds I'm using just one two if you know a games gonna require a really long landscape of gaming but I mean you can kind of justify that like I said a little bit more now and it's going to be pretty cool that you have that high DPI range but one thing that is crazy I've never actually seen on my mouse

before is you can actually change your DPI as increments of one so you can set it to like 836 or something odd like that I don't know but that's getting crazy precise now you're probably not going to use this as an FPS map anything like I said earlier it's on the bigger side and much heavier than a mouse that I would want to use for FPS games but you still can and I've had no problem with it and that new accurate picsArt sensor really does the job so again an MMO or

MOBA mouse here do you need all the buttons on the side you know probably not I've never needed to use 12 macros in a game or something like that but I'm not really into MOBAs myself I'm sure people who are heavily into them can utilize that but like I said in videos prior like with the lots of tech g600 this is going to be great for photo or video editing just pressing you know one button with my thumb instead up sometimes pressing two or three keys on the keyboard to perform a certain action when video editing I mean it's going to save you a lot of

time and I find that very useful and also on the side for these twelve macro buttons every other column here is textured so it's kind of kind of you know help you get a better sense of where your thumb is resting at all times that have to actually look down at it and quickly shifting gears let's take a look at the software the corsair q software it's just it's really easy to make adjustments you know you click on one key or button for the mouse that you want to change

you can pick between the ones that they have already stocked they're recommended for you or again you know it was like other software programs you can record your own macros and stuff like that and then again changing the DPI in the software is just like every other Mouse out there pretty much but now you can really customize a CPI for those precise headshots if you want make it complex to anything which is good for people you know who want to just get this

up and running or if they want to make a quick change of course there in the past has been known kind of for they're not so user-friendly software so I'm glad this is nice and simple and of course it's 2017 you know there's going to be some RGB lighting integrated here I'm not going to go into it too much before this mouse there are four different lighting zones you could switch up for different colors or adding certain effects to them and you got something like the

Polaris Mouse guide you link to colors and effects together so it's going to look kind of cool on your desk you get the idea by now RGB for days so at the end of the day the Scimitar Pro I believe is  when the original scimitar is 60 I believe I've seen afore you're gonna have to decide if this upgrade is worth for you I can say that if you want an absolute top-of-the-line gaming sensor with their new Pixar sensor inside and that 16,000 dpi with the one dpi

increment change is definitely crazy but if not maybe the original scimitar is just right for you and your budget and I'll also say that I'm not the biggest fan of its overall you know size and weights a little bit bulkier that I like you then I would prefer but again I play more FPS games on to MOBAs or mmo's but at the end of the day having those twelve macros is really great altogether it's just a very solid and nice Mouse and I would say I'm a fan of it so you know something something like this where you can take advantage of all the macros and even that

sliding mechanism something I'm a big fan of but I'm sure the consumers out there who would use this this is probably your best option out there I'll put this mouse scimitar pro as well as the original in the description down below you can check it out that's going to wrap it up guys for my review of the corsair scimitar pro RGB gaming math .

CORSAIR Scimitar Pro RGB - MMO Gaming Mouse review

I've played quake for over 18 years and reviewed over 50 months so you might wonder why I'm reviewing an MMO Mouse the answer is because it was requested and because if I can find the right button in quake I'm sure we'll be easy in an MMO the four main points are that has a top optical sensor in the 39 88 uses on run switches it has an ergonomic shape and obviously I'm not going to review it as an FPS Mouse so let's get one thing out of the way it's about 119 grams

which is generally too heavy for FPS should be find in MMO dough and I was aiming fairly well in quake anyway the packaging isn't as straightforward as I'd like but the mouse was safe inside the cable is about 1.8 meters braided and it's fairly flexible and smooth it wasn't any trouble in a mouse bungee other here's a quick tour of the mouse so you know what it looks like it has 212 buttons on the left and those are angled to give us some slight ledge for comfort and

picking it up it has a fairly wide back which doesn't fit exactly into my palm but it is still comfortable nice rubberized coating on top but no finger grooves in the buttons and the right side is a bit unsafe in the sense that it forces you to position your fingers in a certain way but the rubber grip there and slight angles made it easy to pick up I think the mouse looks pretty good except for this one angle from the back and an interesting feature you can slide the side buttons into a position that suits you the key you get with it is to lock the panel from

underneath you note the bottom slope is very slight and the hump is toward the back this means that it consumed most grip styles but as always it depends on your hand size here's a size comparison with some other mice so you know the basic size of it next to the Razer DeathAdder and also the rocket Neph it feels quite large in a few ways the grip width is about 7 centimeters the base length is around 10 with the top length being about eleven point seven and the height is around four centimeters so because the shape is more circular than other mice I'm tempted to

say it's meant for claw grip but I think people with hands between 16 and 18 centimeters can Parliament and probably 17 to 20 can claw fingertip would need a hand over 18 centimeters check the size chart try to aim for as close to the green as possible the weight distribution feels fairly good it's roughly in the middle of the mouse which is in line with the sensor moving on to the buttons here is a listen to the clicks left and right being on run switches are light and easy to click they're also quieter than other mice while still maintaining good tension suitable to fps

and MOBA games middle-click has more attention but I can click it in comfortably for scrolling it's quite smooth with only a slight strain and a little sound and the steps are still noticeable so this is good for gaming and browsing the side buttons have a good amount of truffle and despite playing quake and lifting the muscle I rarely had accidental clicks so they can be used in fps they should be good in mobile and MMO as well the DPI buttons are fairly

far back so it would be hard to use on the fly in the latency testing neither test is accurate but compared with the G 900 it seems to be about the same no real difference as far as I can tell overall I really like lossless quality and the buttons fit well with that and no problem using multiple buttons together now checking the implementation of the 39 88 Center all good on the rocker jobs and moving it as fast as I can I can't make it spin out in the tilt slam test it can spin

out shouldn't be an issue in MMO zooming in for the sniper test tested at 400 and 1600 dpi on hard and soft parts it tracks very well as expected I don't have an accurate acceleration test and I get different results of fair bet but it's within range so I think it's okay the liftoff distance even said too low in software it's about 1 DVD on an iPad and almost 2 on a cloth pad that's fairly normal for 39 ata mice it's still good and should be fine an MMO as well there's no delay that I

can tell and in the line test no abnormal jitter no angle snapping or skipping the liftoff movement is well controlled and there's no lens rattle solid performance is always from the 39 88 so if you want an MMO Mouse with a great sensor this is definitely an option for the build there's no rattles when tapping it but there is a very slight rattle when shaking it nothing bad though for materials this front area is a glossy plastic that picks up fingerprints the buttons

look like they're metal but they're plastic rubberized top feels good may wear out over time or absorb oil from the fingers and the textured rubber grip on the sides or feel great I really like how this mouse feels and it has four mass feed that glide well on hard and soft pads in the software you can redefine each button by creating an action unfortunately the macro option

doesn't detect mouse commands only keyboard you can remap them to other buttons or keys or even shortcuts in lighting effects we have four zones with rainbow color shift to link and others so you can use it with your other corsair devices and you can also use rainbow wipe with that in DPI it goes from 100 to 12,000 in increments of 100 you can set 5 different steps each with the color which will show up on this light next to the buttons in performance I had the lift off set to

low and it also has onboard memory so it should remember your settings in conclusion it's not a first person shooter Mouse but I was still have to play fairly well with it and I bound each weapon to a button on the side so all my weapon switching was being done on the mouse even with only a few hours in game I was able to find the buttons fairly easily so I would say with some practice MMO players should have no trouble learning how to use all of them I really

enjoyed courses overall quality especially with the materials and the buttons my usual complaint with them is the shape and the weight the weight is ok / in the mo and the shape is surprisingly comfortable personally I would not use this as an FPS pass but if you wanted to you could as shown by these highlights and that means I recommend this to the world of warcraft players who also play overwatch casually it's a great Mouse with a lot of great features

and for what it is I think it's one of the best if not the best at the moment so it's a great mouse highly recommended if you'd like to buy one of these in hops aboard the channel you can use the links in the description .

courser have been refining a load of their products this time around the shimmer tar is have a bit of an upgrade by swapping out the previous sensor for the pmw 3367 they've also managed to get 16,000 dpi out of it as well the Scimitar pro has more than enough dpi for even the highest resolution displays the MMO or mobile mouse has 12 mechanical buttons on the side that allows players a huge range of customization from single Keys to full macro support it's

also adjustable to compensate for a variety of hand sizes and the key slider control provides up to 8 millimeters of adjustment by simply undoing the bolt underneath the mouse with the included allen key lighting on the mouse stands for zones that can be customized individually with sixteen point eight million different colors the different types of effects as well are endless also you can sync up the Scimitar with all your other courses devices such as the k70

mechanical keyboard or the void wireless headsets when they're all synced up like this it makes your setup look absolutely stunning taking a closer look at the mouse the left and right clicks have good tactile feedback with minimal travel distance the scroll wheel has a nice amount of drag was defined to scroll steps behind a scroll wheel there is two buttons the one closest to the scroll wheel acts as a profile switch button and the other one acts as a dpi adjustment button

you'll be able to swap between five levels of dpi adjustments onto the mouse's right side this grooves for your ring and pinky finger are paired with a textured rubber both of these provide great grip and aid with lift off underneath the Masters for Teflon feet that give very good Glide even though the mouse is extremely heavy the cable is also braided at 1.8 meters and it isn't very thick and it helps minimize drag the shemitah' pro's weight is 147 grams which might

seem a lot for some genres but for MMOs and MOBAs it should be fine ideally it wouldn't be much use for competitive at Gaming that said it actually doesn't feel that heavy in my hand and it's one of the few heavy mice I've tried that's still really easy to lift the mouse's economic shape feels great in my hand before I tested the mouse I was worried that the 12 side buttons would get in the way of my grip surprisingly I found us able to lift the mouse up no trouble at all without pressing in any of the 12 side buttons the Shih Matar pro feels most comfortable in my hand using palm grip and claw grip fingertip grip was fine but using the 12 mechanical side

buttons was a bit of a struggle moving on to the only thing that's really changed with this mouse is that 16,000 dpi picks RPM w 3367 optical sensor during tests and I found that the 3367 sensor exhibit is one-to-one tracking with zero acceleration jitter was absent moving from pixel to pixel across my display liftoff distance was perfect around one millimeter when set to its lowest setting in the Q software overall the performance and tracking of the 3367 sensor was perfect more than enough for even the best of the best MMO players out there and it would

certainly be fine for some casual FPS gaming as well if we jump into the q software course Ferb provide customization like no other the first tab allows you to customize all of the buttons to single Keys webpage shortcuts and macros to name a few the next tab is where you can customize all the individual lighting zones you can choose various effects single static colors or sync your mouse up to your other core set devices moving on to the next tab this is where you can customize the five different levels of DPI adjustments as well as a single sniper button that

can be assigned using the action tab the dpi tab also gives you the option to change each individual dpi step to a particular color which will show up on a very well-placed light bar just in front of the keypad performance is where the options for angle snapping liftoff distance and enhanced pointer reside last but not least there's the surface calibration tool that will tune your mouse to a particular surface you're using so that about wraps up the review for the corsair

scimitar pro Oh they've improved it greatly and it's a fantastic mouse for MMO and MOBA games is shape it extremely well designed to fit the widest range of hard shapes possible even though it's not ask to be dexterous you could probably get away with some casual FPS gaming as well as far as MMO mice go this is definitely the best i've personally ever used if you're an MMO gamer I'd say this mouse is definitely worth picking up the award for the shemitah' pro is a gold award anyway guys I hope you've enjoyed the review
