today i'll be reviewing the new harpoon wireless gaming mouse from Corsair so this mouse was announced and released back in CES earlier this year alongside some other products Corsair announced but this one in particular caught my attention because this is Corsairs first small form-factor wireless mouse now if you're already familiar with the wired version of the harpoon Mouse not much has changed in overall design except for the small light on the DPI switch to help you indicate which profile you're on not a necessary feature put a nice one to
have nonetheless in many ways this mouse seems to be directly competing with the likes of the Logitech 3:05 specifically in the smaller wireless gaming mice category so because of this I'll be sure to draw some comparisons in what I like about the harpoon compared to its direct competitor and also some things I don't like so the mouse which already puts it at about the same price the logitech 3:05 is currently going for on Amazon however I think there's actually quite a bit more you're getting for that money on the wireless harpoon in terms of just
pure features it's got a rechargeable battery bluetooth as well as Wireless over the 2.4 gigahertz wireless receiver and programmable LEDs things that none of the Logitech 3:05 have and we'll get more in depth with those features in a bit so let's start off by talking about overall design and ergonomics the mouse is overall made up of a plastic shell on the top and the bottom there's rubberized grips on both the left and right side of the mouse that are concave for a
sturdier grip and a place to rest your fingers the mouse is 11 and 1/2 centimeters so definitely a smaller Mouse my hand size is 17 centimeters long so keep that in mind when I discuss my experience with different grips in total the mouse weighs 99 grams which is just slightly on the heavier side for a mouse of this size but great for a wireless mouse nonetheless over the top the mouse is a gradual and aggressive curve that comes back down at the paw rest overall I think
this shape is great for claw grips especially with rubberized grips on the sides of the mouse and the palm rest is tall enough vertically to rest your palm completely when claw gripping something that the Logitech 305 can't really do with its more linear and flatter top palm gripping with the mouse is more of the mixed bag it's a shorter Mouse with an aggressive curve so your fingers will have a sharper curve to accommodate - generally I would say this is not the
type of shape you want for palm resting unless you have really small hands ideally if your palm gripping I generally advise a larger Mouse the harpoon Wireless also has programmable LEDs on its main logo and the DPI switch a nice option at the expense of some extra battery cost left and right mouse buttons are good no real issues here they feel sharp and a bit on the lighter side now with this mouse the left and right buttons are not separated from the rest of the top shell
like in the case of some other mice this generally isn't ever an issue and doesn't really change the usability of the mouse but keep in mind you can achieve a click from the middle of the mouse even below the DPI switch anywhere below that a click is not registered and obviously for a good reason I still find myself accidentally clicking when lifting my hand off the mouse and resting it back on with the little force right below the DPI switch and that's enough to
register a click click durability is claimed to be fifty million clicks on the left and right mouse buttons which is actually pretty great compared to some other mice the scroll wheel is on the smoother side and very light also has a nice click no issues here now moving on to probably one of my largest complaints with this mouse the two side buttons I mean there's just quite a lot going wrong here firstly the small separation between the two buttons is actually really hard to feel during intense gaming at times I often wasn't sure which button I was on and ended up
pressing the wrong one in normal circumstances I don't think the button separation would be a big deal but because the buttons are already so small I think it's important that they have a good separation and are isolated enough so I know which one I'm clicking a good example of this being done right is our direct competitor the logitech 3:05 and that leads me to my next gripe with these side buttons and that's the sharp curve of the top shell that sort of hangs over the left side of the mouse literally right over the side buttons if you're resting your thumb right
beneath the side buttons and you move it to press one of these buttons you will probably more often than not hit the top shell which just sort of becomes obtrusive and doesn't let you easily hit the side button you want in short the side buttons are just kind of not good and I don't want to make that a major point because they are just side buttons and that might not be important to a lot of you but I think it is a problem something you might get used to over I'm using the mouse and getting far more familiar with where the side buttons are placed but for me and my time using the mouse my experience with the side buttons was just awkward there's also a
compartment underneath the mouse to store the wireless receiver kudos to Corsair this is always a nice addition alright so moving on to the sensor we're working with Corsairs p.m. w3 3 to 5 at a maximum dpi of 10,000 and maximum polling rate of 1,000 Hertz overall I haven't had any issues at all with the sensor but when I first started using it every now and then I would get a slight stutter when moving to the left very quickly I wasn't sure what was going on here but I did have it plugged into a USB 3.0 port on the back of my computer when I was
getting this stuttering it's like whenever I move left really quickly it like stutters for a second moving the sensor to a different port closer to the mouse removed the stuttering entirely and I didn't notice any issues with latency odds are your monitor will have more latency than the mouse so definitely don't worry about that and try to keep the mouse as close as possible to the wireless receiver the mouse also features an option to run it with a wire which comes included with the box this is certainly a nice feature to have to keep on gaming while your mouse is
charging okay so battery this is where there is no competing with Logitech's hero sensor in the 305 and that isn't to say the battery is bad in the harpoon wireless for a rechargeable mouse it's actually pretty great we're looking at an average of 60 hours without the LEDs on and with the LEDs we're looking at an average of about 30 hours so I would say if you're using the mouse relatively frequently throughout the day you might need to charge it one to three times a week
which again isn't bad at all directly comparing this to the 305 isn't exactly fair since the Logitech 305 uses a non rechargeable double-a battery that can last for longer than 250 hours and mine is going far beyond that with a lithium battery I also decided to try out using the mouse on Bluetooth and while it's certainly ideal to use over the wireless receiver it's still a great feature to have I can just take this mouse with me on a trip with my laptop for some
casual use and don't even need to worry about bringing the wireless receiver with me awesome job with this Corsair I really hope more gaming my start doing this and lastly I'd like to talk about the software because just like any good hardware what would it be without some good software supporting it ok so here comes another part of this review I'm not super excited about so software too a lot might not be a big deal and that's fine if you're going to just have one
setting that you use for every game you play and maybe just use the DPI switch every now and then for a game you might need then ok this software will get the job done I'll be it not easily the UI is just not good the whole program seems to be designed around these tabs at the top that let you select what you want to change for the mouse however the tabs don't really take you anywhere specific except the dashboard in settings but instant lighting and homepage are the exact same except the instant lighting just pops up an extra window for lighting ok so
moving on firstly when you click on a profile here on the left you can't actually edit it you can only change the name and change what program that specific profile links to so yes you have to create an individual profile for every particular program you want to use you can't just make one profile that is then used for a set of specific programs again this is not an issue at all if you only plan to program one specific profile for everything however if you have one specific setting for games and one specific setting for anything else you have to create an individual profile for
every game you play and you have to manually locate the exe for it ok so to actually change the profiles themselves you got to click on the mouse if that wasn't made obvious here you can change DPI which have their own profiles which is weird I guess and lighting effects which also have their own profiles within the overall Mouse profile you can program the buttons as well what little bit of work and miss clicks you'll get there okay so if you can't tell by now I have
some issues with this software it's not clean things don't seem to be well thought out or coherent and it just overall makes an incredibly unpleasant experience making profiles especially when you have to create a specific profile for every program you want to have one particular setting for like the fact I like to use my DPI switch for the letter H in games and task manager when not in games this means I need to duplicate the same profile and make a new profile for every single game I play now don't get too caught up on my personal problems with the software
because it honestly does get the job done it works it's just not a pleasant experience using it and once you get everything the way you want to you don't necessarily have to use it again so overall this really isn't a big deal despite me making it one okay so my overall thoughts on this mouse is that it's a pretty great performing Mouse for the price with some cool features that the Logitech 305 doesn't even have a mouse did I think is directly competing with this one in the solid performing small wireless mice category my gripes with the side buttons I think are still a
pretty big deal for me and I'd like to see Corsair clean up this one part of the mouse and their next iteration the software is a bit messy and makes an unpleasant experience but again you only have to be using it to get your profiles working the way you want and then you never have to use it again also it only comes in one color so if you're like me and use white peripherals this one will definitely look a little bit out of place but that's purely a preference thing and I don't
see Corsair looking to expand color options for their peripherals so can't really mark off for that one if you like claw gripping and you're in the market for a small Mouse definitely consider Corsairs harpoon wireless mouse personally I'll be moving back to the 305 for its battery performance the cleaner software but ultimately the decision is up to you
Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless - Wireless Rechargeable Gaming Mouse review
design for some of the new users out there the are proven has a more of a small to a medium sized up body with a matte a black a top that has a slight roughness to it because of the size it makes it a moraine for users with a claw or fingertip style a grip but it still works for palm style grips as well just be careful if you do have large hands it might be a bit too small for you as for the weight the wired version are weighed in at 85 grams with the new wireless version only
being a bit heavier because of the included battery at a hundred grams which is only a not too bad for a wireless gaming mouse especially at this price point the left side has a rubberized a textured grip with a deeper curve towards Utley to thumb up buttons which places your thumb pretty much permanently against the buttons however it is still quite comfortable and you don't have to worry about accidentally pressing them the buttons that do have a sharper edge to them so you are able to feel it very clearly and they do have a nice assured and a quick response to
them moving to the opposite side you get the same a textured rubber eyes a grip but with a slighter a curved finger placement was a decent in with a space for a bow fingers I'm not too crazy about these a smaller arm I say sometimes finger placement can be a bit of a mission there but actually it wasn't too bad on the art poon moving to the left and the right mouse buttons they feature omarama switches with a lifespan of a fifty million clicks and they have a
short and snappy response which I really did alike moving to the scroll wheel it has a decent scroll of short steps and these same a rubber textured grip as the word version behind that you get the DPI switch also mostly the same as the previous version but and now it has an LED dpi indicator showing you on which of these six deeper levels you are on with a different colors taking a look underneath the are poun you get as for small but smooth glide pads the small
compartment for the 2.4 gigahertz a wireless USB receiver the connection option a switch and then the new pmw 3325 optical sensor with a max DPI of 10 a thousand a thousand Hertz polling rate and an IPS of a 100 but now just before we get into how the new wireless harpoon performs the arpan has three different connection options which is awesome you can either run it in the standard or wire the mode with the included but proprietary 1.8 ammeter operated
microUSB cable that you just slide into the front of the mouse that will also charge the battery or you can run it with the 2.4 gigahertz a USB wireless receiver that features Corsairs a slipstream technology that adds for near zero latency at only around one Amala second also just a mention don't lose the USB wireless receiver i'm not sure if it's unifying i didn't have any points on that so if you lose it then you might lose the wireless option and you just will have
bluetooth so just keep that in mind i'm not sure if course there's gonna sell them separately and work like that so just keep that in mind and then finally you do also have a be a Bluetooth a 4.2 connection option that makes it really handy for secondary or wireless connections to either like a laptop or a second a system but of course a Bluetooth is a bit slower and around 8 milliseconds so I wouldn't really recommend it for any fall space gaming casual gaming maybe
it'll be okay now or just work in general but for fall space just go for the wired or the 2.4 gigahertz or Wireless the 3325 optical sensor delivered a decent performance with a good at tracking especially for it being wireless and at this a price point I was unable to get at the sensor to roll out or experience any jerking everything felt a smooth with no delay that I percent gonna pick up as follow the lift of distance it wasn't too bad at around her two DVDs
but if like it ever was a bit a lower but it's not too bad and now getting into a problem with most of the wireless peripherals and that is a battery luckily Corsair stated that it can Alost up to 30 hours or 45 hours on depending on a lighting on the 2.5 gigahertz or Wireless mode and between a forty to sixty hours on a blue chief and from my use that does look to be true with me only charging the mass the day I received it and in launching around a week with average
amount of a use we're on the 2.4 gigahertz but with the alighting off but also I did find that the battery did die or very quickly at around 20 percent so it might be a false indicator around there or the battery just runs are really quickly but it still delivered a really long gaming performance they now finally taking a look at the software you can do all of the usual stuff like a sign in different commands to each of the buttons except again a deal if Massa button create
your own macros launch programs and more then you get your DPI settings where you can adjust the DPI speeds of 4500 levels and the sign it colors to each as for the lighting you can change the effects and the colors for the a logo on the diplomas between any of course shares and many effects and then I can't believe I'm saying this but rather turn your RGB off because it will save your battery alive so can't believe I'm saying to turn RGB off it feels so wrong but
for the sake of your battery life rather just turn it off and then finally you can go into the settings tab in the software you can enable suite mode battery saving mode adjust the polling rate and a few more settings so now in conclusion the new wireless harpoon gaming mouse from Corsair is a really good performing Wireless Gaming Mouse for the price there are some major a wireless gaming mice but the usually cost around double this one and for the price range that
this one falls in there aren't really a lot of them so this one is one of the base wireless gaming mice for fifty dollars so the new wireless harpoon is going to be a great option for a gamer than once you get untethered from those annoying cables have a plenty of connection options because again you do have a three performance are well in a gaming but also most importantly it doesn't have to break the bank and that is probably the most important part and just like
that the corsair harpoon wireless version is going to be just an all out great Mouse for the price .
the Corsair harpoon wireless RGB mouse' just came out and I seen this thing when watching I was watching a Linus tech tips there CES coverage and he talked about the new wireless gaming mouse from Corsair that supposedly has no latency and I've wanted to use wireless mice for gaming for a long time but it just always felt that it just didn't it always felt a little off so when this thing said almost or nearly or in perceivable wireless connectivity I was like I need
one I got I got to try it out and I got one I will say when we went through a bit of a rocky road in our relationship here but and right now I'm loving this thing so let's talk a little bit about it when it comes to the unboxing experience of this mouse there's really not much to say you get a mouse and you get some paperwork that's it so the first thing I want to talk about before we get going here is just how that Mouse feels it has like a nice matte finish and the RGB on the mouse
this looks clean it's minimalistic it just looks and feels good in the hand the rubber finish on both the far side and the thumb side of course there's harpooning Mouse's just good I don't know why I like it so much better than other mice I've used but the textured finish just feels better I don't know because it takes up more area or just the design is a little better but I do really enjoy out this mouse field the sensor type on this mouse is an optical sensor with a max dpi setting of 10,000 and using the IQ software from Corsair you can set up up to five different
dpi settings and you can color code them you can set which ones your default and you can even have a sniper profile and then you can switch between them in-game using the little button behind the scroll wheel and since your color-coded them you'll know which ones which based on which color the button is so you don't have to always reference back to your IQ software speaking of buttons Corsair says this mouse has 6 programmable buttons but what I really
think they meant to say was that this mouse has just six buttons let's talk about the ones that matter the most the two side buttons for your thumb these are the ones people normally use for things like melee or reloading or what have you and I will say the buttons do perform well they have a good click to them they they're easy to use kinda and one thing that's a little office the mouse is left click and the buttons are like at the same height so when you're just trying to feel which button you're on sometimes the left click plastic is this kind of your way and it's it's kind
of hard to tell so if they would have made the button just a little taller I think they just would have been that much better on the bottom side you're gonna find a tiny little hatch that houses the things that we've all been waiting for the little dongle for the 2.4 gigahertz slipstream technology and use it it's quite simple you just simply plug in the dongle to an open USB port and you set the mouse to 2.4 gigahertz but say you want to use this mouse with something like a laptop or you don't care about low latency wireless you could also use it in Bluetooth also let's
say your batteries died and you still need the game well you can just plug in the USB cord leave the mouse in off and use it as a wired mouse and the best part is when you plug in the USB cord the mouse looks that performs just like any other wired mouse so I said at the beginning that meaning the mouse had a little bit of a rocky start and I think that was mostly due to my unconscious bias against wireless mice I mean when I when I heard that this thing had little to no latency I was I was sold I needed it but I always had in the back of mine that's how was that how was that a thing I mean I've used the death otter Kromah for a long time like the mouse a
lot that's great but it always has the cord on it and you know the cord gets caught on like the desktop for your mouse pad or something like that and I always hated that so having a wireless mouse was my preference and I will say that when I first plugged it in I started using it and it just felt different and at the time I was like it's gotta be a delay there's no way that this wireless mouse has zero delay obviously it's got to have something wrong with it so I started using this one user now on switching between the two I want to try to do some testing where you kind of
like a reflex test and I was hoping that my reflexes would stay about the same and I'd use this mouse and that Mouse is saw no difference in the and I was like well maybe if I just stick with it it'll it'll get better I'll get used to it and then it'll become the mouse that I want it to be and that's exactly what happened so I just stuck with using this thing and after I got used to the feel on the mousepad because it does slide a bit easier there's no drag obviously from no cord and
after I got used to that you know it turned out that this thing is way better than that Mouse and obviously it's wireless so that is the best part is that you know we might you might have that fact that this thing has got to have some delay but from my testing my experiences I didn't notice any discernible delay so if you're looking for a wired gaming mouse that performs and it's not too expensive then the corsair RGB is the mouse for you
the Corsair harpoon RGB wireless mouse and let's have a look at that right after the intro [Music] all right so d course our mouse I got this mouse because I was looking for a smaller form factor Mouse I don't really like the big gaming mouses I reviewed one here on my channel I will leave a link to that and so I was getting this and it's a 2.4 gigahertz slipstream wireless bluetooth mouse you can also use it wired with the RG whiskey with the USB cable and it's only 99 grams 10000 TPI optical sensor and a dynamic RGB light in it now I would say we open this
box up and see what's inside all right everything I put the box aside we have Manuel beneath this for now put it aside as well so we have the mouse right here and as you can see it's already connected to the USB cable itself smashed cable looks quite nice looks like good quality the USB plug itself also looks quite nice we have some plastic on here remove this plastic on have a look around so ya can see you should be able to unplug this somehow I guess yes you can see we have a micro USB here to a regular USB and as I said it's a mashed cable yeah be nice put that aside
for now and let's have a look at the mouse itself so we have this puppy here we have the classic wheel feels quite nice solid and we have two buttons over here and of course left and right mouse button as well so down here I guess we have the Bluetooth USB plug so we will put that in our PC and if you want to transport the mouse somewhere you can put it in here and here we can see it's either off bluetooth and then there's this 2.4 gigahertz mode as well and yeah it looks like it's not oh it's working hope you can see that on the video that's not blinking so it's looking for a connection but I would say pretty solid it feels good it's not too big I like the size
actually I have the gaming mouse the habit Gaming Mouse I reviewed here on my channel in one of my previous videos a wired mouse and you can see the difference it's way bigger I don't like that size this feels way better in my hand I mean it's also good it feels it good in your hand but I definitely prefer smaller ones like this one and that's actually the sender Mouse I also reviewed to send the mouse and keyboard here on my channel I will leave the links to both in the description and you can see this is the one I'm using right now on a daily basis this is really
small but I like how the Corsair feels and I would say I plug it to my see and we'll be right back with you for a short review a few moments later all right so I plucked him mouse into my PC now and I set it to the 2.4 gigahertz option and as you can see the LED light is flashing in different colors and and I would say I switch to the desktop now and give you a quick overview off the mouse itself so I'm on the Corsair webpage here and as you can see some text backs and all that stuff so scrolling down here a bit you can see the slipstream technology which allows the
one millisecond connection speeds so as I said before you saw I unplug the cable so I use it Wireless here it's the dynamic RGB lighting and yeah 99 grams so it's quite light and that built-in battery should last up to 60 hours and one interesting thing is that IQ compatibility as well so you can download this here on the coarser web page and then you can basically synchronize everything if you have like a fan in your computer which is RGB as well or the RAM in your PC and stuff like that or the keyboard itself then you can synchronize this with IQ from
Corsair you can download this here on court on the course our webpage it's a two hundred to seventy two megabytes download let's have a quick look on the tech specs here as well so maximum of 10,000 dpi six programmable buttons basically everything I already said you can use it while that's all wired and yeah it feels good it's a nice feeling in my hand and I quickly switch over to this year or right now so that's the manual you can see the LED and this led in the middle of the mouse that's basically in different colors which can show the battery status
the wireless status and the DPI stage status so by clicking on here you can see it's changing the color so red it's five hundred dpi and like you can see the cursor is moving really really slow if I click again it's white and it's 1000 keep the eye you can see it's already moving a bit faster clicking again 1500 it's even faster now it turns to yellow it's 3000 dpi and if you click again it's 5000 and that's pretty fast too fast for me so for me actually I think green or yellow so 1500 or
3000 for normal use is really fine maybe if you're like in a shooter then you will use the 5000 dpi settings or something like that but you can see the pairing modes blinking wide and all that stuff that's all in the manual but I would say that's it for the first review so far I can't say anything bad about the mouse it's a decent Mouse it feels nice in my hand it it's solid you have two buttons so you can go back here on the browser and stuff like that with the buttons on the
left side also the mouse wheel the click is really nice scrolling everything feels pretty solid so I can recommend this mouse I mean you can see on the web page it's here in Europe it costs 60 euros so that's a decent price as well for a wireless gaming mouse I would say and if you're interested check out the website or check out some reviews on Amazon I can not say anything bad about the mouse right now and I would say I've wrapped this review up here
