APC UPS BE600M1, 600VA UPS Battery Backup review

their view of the APC battery backups ups 600v a 330 watt version I use these on any network install I do and the idea behind this unit is you have these outlets which I'll take off this warning strip here these five outlets which provide battery backup so if you lose power briefly they will keep going they claim 67 minutes runtime for PC loads but it depends what you plug into here one PC it will keep running I like to put it on the Comcast router modem whatever you have set up just so if you have a quick power flash you don't lose internet even if it's a slightly for a long flat if it's a retail setting or whatnot if the power goes out your internet will

stay up and you can keep up a credit card machine in the monitor so you can continue transactions in your store as long as the local Comcast hub or whatever Internet service you have stays up this is a nice unit it also has a USB charging port which is on battery backup and to surge only spots I typically put any extra monitors or unneeded hardware on here just so it has surge protection but things that you don't want to be eating after battery you'll see on the bottom of the unit is a battery door every APC also comes with a inspection certificate on just so you can see that someone actually did go through inspected before or shipped off to you because these are for mission-critical Hardware so open up here I have noticed lately it looks

like APC is using recycled batteries or the recycling their own you can tell this is brand new clean plastic the battery on the other hand is a little scuffed up it could just be there manufacturing processes scuffing these up but it definitely looks like I don't know they might be recycling hard to say good if they are so when you buy one of these new it will not be plugged up just because they don't want the process or the possibility of air free or whatnot and a bad being discharged that could be bad so you need to pull your cord out make your connection there's usually a spark as long as you're not touching the spark you'll be fine nothing to worry

about there and that is without the unit plugged in that's just there is a good amount of charge on this battery as it ships out so you plug that in firmly replace it you see this is also not your standard 7 amp alarm battery this is going to be a custom battery so three to five years depending on usage how many power outages you will have to replace this battery I make my connection here also these units do have a USB port and they include a USB a cable so you can hook this up to your computer the computer will act as if it is a laptop and show your battery

status so the computer actually knows when it needs to shut down so it's not plugged in currently but you can see the unit will fire right up using the battery it does come at least mostly pre-charged it's doing a self check right now and the unit is now running I'll plug it into power here the plug is a nice right angle so if it's going behind a desk or something like that it's low-profile and there we go the battery is now charging and run AC power as you can hear there's no audible hum or anything like that the owner just runs and runs well here we are with ampere you're gonna test the USB charging port it says 1.5 amps we'll see if that's true and

we'll have a measurement in just a moment here all right for 60 milliamps it's a little low try that again just give it a second chance there we go we're closed you're doing amp now and anyone that's played with this app and phone chargers knows that things aren't always perfectly consistent there go one more time so around an amp of charging not bad especially considering if you lose power as you can see we're still charging so if this is a bedside thing for an alarm clock or but not also a valid idea it's bad to wake up in the morning with the dead

phone as you can tell the way this UPS is set up power has been lost it is not currently beeping okay so we have the manual here by default the system's on quiet alarm so it's not going to alarm until the battery gets low so you'll have the flashing green light and most like you'll know your power is out there is also no alarm where there is just no alarm all the you FPS is on battery or full alarm where it sounds four beeps every 30 seconds as soon as it loses power so to change alarm mode while the unit is on press and hold the power button for three beeps there's

a first beep second beep and the third now you'll see the power button flashing colors with each tap it changes modes red is no alarm green is the default quiet alarm amber is what I like which is full alarm then you wait five seconds that will clear now it's committed to the unit so now

when we lose power there we go full alarm mode I like this personally because if this were to become unplugged by accident you'll be immediately notified it won't be until the battery's low before you're notified if this was a home setting you may stay with the quiet alarm mode but in any commercial setting especially if it's mission-critical it's nice to have that alarm setting here we're going to put the unit through its paces so we're currently on AC wall power at 124 volts going to disconnect and there's a very brief drop there before drops down to 110 volts hundred and nine let's reconnect see how that goes picks right back up to AC power again much

smoother transition that time and again so we did see that one first drop that took us down to eighty some volts probably not enough to shut off electronics they might act a little funny but definitely better than a brownout scenario and now we're consistently ranging between 110 and 120 volts when we lose power even if it's a rapid on/off scenario this is handling this pretty well now we're going to connect the USB cable included with unit to a computer ok the device is automatically detected and you'll see now that the computer shows a battery and power now if you click on the icon at the bottom right of the screen show your current battery available if

you go to battery settings it takes you to your battery overview and this is just like a laptop now even though it's a PC turn on battery saver or you can set your sleep settings your hibernate settings shut down so on so forth so it's really a plug-and-play experience and if you have a workstation where you really can't afford to lose power lose your work this is a great way to bridge that gap so this has been the APC backups UPS 600 V a version available on Amazon for well  and it's a solid investment if you have a Productivity station or anything of that nature or you really do need to not lose power in the event of a power outage

the APC backup de 601 battery backup now it comes with seven outlets as you can see it has five battery plus surge protector outlets and only two just regular surge protector outlets it also comes with a USB 1.5 and and to go to the sides here and pick that up the Scot of USB in a circuit breaker there and it also has a building wiring fault light just through it you'll notice were you plugging this up you know something's wrong we're pulsing with the wiring okay so like I said as you can read the sign here says commitment battery so basically this is just housing and it comes with a battery underneath as you can see right there and so basically when that battery bed I'll just go pick up a dispose of that battery like it's supposed to be

disposed of and go get another battery put it up in here and bam I'm good to go back with power so like I said the reason why I got this is because I really got a good price on Amazon I got to stand for it for  and basically for a battery backup that's a good price if you really can't beat that so it's a 600 watt only a 330 watt 600 volt UPS battery backup but what I liked best about this and why I got it was if I was just plugging up a modem in a router just to make sure my internet stayed on I could get up to four hours of battery runtime off this

but let's just say if I had a computer I put my 20 inch monitor and again a modem and router I could get up to 6 seven minutes of one time you know if there was a power outage or something like that and that's really what I got this footage just make sure that the internet stays up and working during the power outage you know because I have a lot of things at my home that use the internet and media the internet to be working even if it's a power outage so as I said this is a great device for that now let's just say if I had a notebook computer and a modem in a router I

can get about thirty minutes of runtime well let's say if I had like a mid-range PC or again a PC 20 inch monitor and I had a notebook and a router and a modem hooked up to this well that's we came here to get the letter time in about ten minutes okay let's say I just wanted to charge my phone I could charge myself some phone up to seventy times up to seven times with this so like I said for  the ability just to change out the battery you know when things go bad to have the building wall a fault indicator for wiring built in you know just the simple things like

that for  this is really awesome to have in a UPS battery backup device like I said this is a 600 volts 330 watt it gives excellent runtimes like I said if I just want my modem and router I'm going to be in about four hours but if I put a PC up to it with a monitor and I add the router and the modem I'm getting about 67 minutes and that's really all the time I really want but another thing about this I told you about the seven outlets five of them are the battery in the surge protector were to just be in Affairs protected this also has software for your PC called

auto shutdown software so basically it's going shut down your PC if you're not using me so that you can get along their life from the battery back up so again that is pretty awesome and like I said this is made by a PC I was going to get a cyber power but like I said it was just do you know the bang for the buck for this one was just to get  to have all those features so like I said if you're on Amazon and you're looking for battery backup something to keep you going during the power outage and the reason like I said summers coming in the Midwest a lot

of storms coming tornadoes and things like that so like I said I'm really going to need this but in this home for about three years and I say last year I think the power went out by probably once or twice in this house so I'm pretty sure this will come in handy you know for this season seeing that everything is getting warmer and everything like that so like I said this uh this bad boy has a manufacturer's protection up  and have about a three year warranty follow you out

there so seventy-five thousand dollars for three years at the if it doesn't work or something a fry something left again fee that they give so I hope you enjoy the review here of the APC backup ve 601 battery backup with seven outlets it's got 600 volts 330 was again you can get it from Amazon so they got a really great price so if you did a battery backup get this this is normal we like to review check like if you did about

uninterruptible power supply backup and surge protection for more than one device and with several hours of backup power we chose the APC backup that we're showing you the box up here will show you the actual device where have everything plugged in and we actually have had a very brief power outage and this thing has been great at helping us through that test 7 plugin so you can put seven different things plugged into it two of them are surge only the other five that you plug into our battery backup and surge protection okay the item comes shipped in the box and you connect the battery plug it into the wall and you're good to go we ordered this

off of Amazon of course you know provide the link in the description for you but it's been great says it as two and a half hours of battery backup and we haven't had that long of a power on these yet and hopefully we don't have to have we're plugging our modem or router our security cameras our DVR and even the TV that you know allows us to look at the cameras into so if anything goes down and we're away from home we can hopefully if everything connects on the other side internet why is that is keep track of the house and things like that so we chose this

one and we've got it all hooked up let's take a look now and I'll show you exactly how that is okay so we're gonna light the room area where there's a cabinet all of our wiring and Internet comes into it so no one knows that the Internet and DVR and all of our equipment is up here down below is our cameras that we can monitor now keep everything tucked away nicely in the cabinets I'm gonna hoping that just gonna show you a little bit geeky I'm on how to keep things looking nice here but I've got three shelves in the cabinet and everything here is all for enternet top is where the DVR hooks up all the cameras and come down in here we've got a a fan

running to pull air out modem hooks up here that tall thing there that's a for a remote thermometer so we can see how warm it is in here that our Netgear router got a keyboard over there so that we can access the DVR and things with it all the wiring and stuff is tucked up as nice as we could kind of hard to do and look at me and then down below is the battery backup I've got a lot of stuff plugged into it the thing that's like I did find challenging let's plug in everything into it in the cabinet that we have so the wires come and plug into the front and then you got to pull them around the back so in this example if you've got a wire that plugs into the front or here then you got to roll it back and over to whatever year when you're plugging in so

we've got router modem DVR this plug-in is basically providing power into this back corner if you can see it - two items is these two items are just the battery packs for the security cameras yeah we've got an internet based phone here that plugs in so that's it that's how we organized our cabinet with all of our internet gear it does have a hole cut in to the side of it to expel the air and I do monitor the temperature and hasn't been a problem at all so when I close it the way that we are moving air is the very right hand side has a filler strip between the wall and the

cabinet so all this area here is hollow allows the hole in the wall where the wiring is passing through all of this is where all that air is being vented to and it goes out the top and out the bottom as well so there's plenty of air ventilation through the top there so that's it hope you enjoyed the review if you got questions comments leave them down below it definitely the backup power supply there with the built-in surge protection has been nice you
