AOC G2590FX 25" Framless Gaming Monitor review

The Pros:Low input lag and quick response time
AMD FreeSync with wide 30-144Hz range
Plenty of additional gaming features
Decent image quality for a TN panel display

The Cons:Narrow viewing angles
Inferior image quality to IPS and VA panels
Tilt-only stand

Specifications

The monitor uses a 24.5” 144Hz TN panel from AUO. A slight difference compared to the older panel is that this is native 144Hz rather than 120Hz overclocked to reach 144Hz. The panel supports 8-bit colour via the usual 6-bit + FRC dithering. The specified grey to grey response time is (6-bit + FRC dithering) and has a specified grey to grey response time of 1ms specified response time. As usual, don’t take this figure too seriously. Some of the key ‘talking points’ of the monitor have been highlighted in blue below.

to my single monitor fam I'm sorry I had to leave hey you boy got a new monitor so after reviewing that BenQ monitor for a while I really didn't want to go back to a single monitor setup especially because I was starting to stream a lot more the dual monitor setup helps immensely because it lets you be able to see Chad and and all kinds of other stuff look up stuff while you're playing games that you really can't deal with a single monitor set up so I would

end pick this boy up here from AOC this is a 1080p 144 hertz panel it's a TN and  , now this monitor does support adaptive sync technology so it was actually released originally as a free sync monitor but recently nvidia has certified this as working with g sync as well so it doesn't matter if you have an AMD or video card you can still take advantage of that technology which is pretty nice this is a advertised 1 millisecond

response time I didn't really notice any ghosting when I was playing games on this particular monitor I will say though it is missing the motion blur reduction that you do get with some of the more high end high refresh rate monitors and I really don't think that would be a big deal to not have that but I actually kind of miss it having the clarity when stuff is you know moving quickly is actually pretty nice especially on a 144 Hertz or even a 240 Hertz panels so you do

kind of miss that but again this is only  monitors so they got a cut corner somewhere so as you guys can see here here's everything mounted up I've got it on a monitor arm that I picked up off Amazon it's just one of the cheap ones for like something like that pretty much does the job it's quality except I have one problem which you guys can obviously notice there's a bit of a difference between the height of the two monitors that I have here now granted one of

them is using a stupid evasive mount adapter never buying a monitor without vase amount supports ever again but yeah it's just basically unless you have two of the exact same monitors with this monitor arm it's pretty much impossible to guarantee that they're gonna be on the same level so if you have a solution for this problem and basically what I did was hit up a vivo which makes some of the more common monitor arms that you see on Amazon and asked if

they could send me one of theirs to take a look at that actually allows for vertical adjustment that way we can get these monitors level and we don't have to buy two of the exact same monitors so that's going to be the solution hopefully I'm going to show you guys what it looks like once we've got the new mount installed nothing wrong with this by the way if you are running to the same monitors it's it's pretty solid for what it is but we do need some vertical

adjustability in my case okay so you guys can see here we got the final mounting in place got the new mount installed both monitors are pretty level or about as close as I could get them given that they're technically different sizes but I think it does actually line up pretty nicely there's a little gap between the two monitors there that you can see not really a big issue for me because I basically have a primary and a secondary monitor I'm not trying to run these in like surround

or anything like that so not really an issue for me but I think it looks pretty good as is here's a little shot of behind the monitors as you guys can see the monitor arm up against the wall I will say probably the only negative is that you do need quite a bit of space behind your desk in order to get the full adjustability with this dual monitor arm so if you don't have a lot of room back there you may possibly run into some issues getting the monitors exactly where you want

them so that may force you to uh sit your or scoot your desk forward a little bit but other than that I'd say the dual monitor arm is actually pretty solid it's got the monitors pretty much where I want them to be I may do some fine tune adjustments a little bit later on but I think this is basically the look I'm going for so yeah I know some of you guys probably saying what the hell Jerry 1080p in 2019 are you crazy what is wrong with you and yeah man I know I know

but it's 144 Hertz I needed that high refresh rate coming off of the Ben Q review and honestly i'm only rocking the gtx 1070 right now man so getting like a 1440p high refresh rate panel wouldn't really I wouldn't really be able to do it justice with the hardware that I've got so really it was just budget and hardware that it that factored into me getting this panel basically what I talked about in the BenQ review that stuff obviously matters in your decision I know there's the XG 24:02 panel that's out there I picked this one over that because I had read the ALC one was

a little bit of a newer panel so I figured potentially it may be a little bit better so I chose that and then I did not go with the VA panel because they all come with freaking curved monitors I don't want a curved monitor I wanted just a traditional you know I'm saying traditional monitor I didn't want that so those got eliminated for that but if they ever happen to come out with a non curved version I may get one hopefully they don't have any issues with ghosting because I know the response time is a little bit higher on those now I just need to get rid of this

thing right here this is a 1080p 60 Hertz IPS panel on replaces with like a 4k I'll take a 4k 60 Hertz IPS panel here or I would take a you know 1440p high refresh rate something like that maybe move this to the main monitor and move it there although this is a TN so maybe it does need to stay right in front of my face I don't know something like that but this one's got to go next and I think we'll be looking pretty set man but yeah I'm happy with this monitor so far I

would definitely recommend it if you're looking for something at this price point , and it's the one I chose man so as far as I'm concerned it's the best damn option all right guys let me know what you think about this stuff down in the comments below .

if you're in the market for a new gaming monitor chances are you've seen just how expensive they can be but what if I told you that I finally found a monitor that's not only perfect for gaming but can be found at a very reasonable price too well chances are you'd probably be quite excited and the one I've got here is from AOC and it is 1080p is 24 inches 144 Hertz and has AMD freesync support so nothing really that's going to hit the headlines for these outrageously crazy specs but that doesn't stop it from being the best budget gaming monitor I

think I've come across so far design wise there's really a lot to like here IRC normally tend to lean towards cheaper materials to minimise down on costs but looking at this you'd never really know that as it's got a nice slick fit and finish that's well built but it also looks pretty smart too granted it's not the most premium to the touch but the rich in gives it a bit of flair and while it will upset some buyers I actually really like it it's clearly an evolution of the older g2 40 60 PF

and they've fixed every single complaint that I had with that the stand is circular and it does a decent job of keeping the unit stable all the adjustments here are present including tilt height adjust and swivel and you can even pivot hit 90 degrees if so desired the mechanism isn't the smoothest that I've ever used but you can always swap it out by the v's amount if you're after something else connections wise we have plenty of options with this play poor HDMI and VGA

I'd advise that if you are using this with a PC that you use that DisplayPort to guarantee the maximum refresh rate but it is nice to have the flexibility including the addition of a four port USB hub at the moment then things are looking very very bright indeed but of course this is a gaming monitor so it's gonna live and die based on its performance so what is that performance like and is the image quality up to snuff well this is a TN panel and as many of you will know

they're just not great in terms of raw image quality the thing is though while this is never going to compete with the best IPS and VA panels I was actually really surprised just how good it is you see the older version of this mono has pretty poor color and viewing angles it was acceptable for gaming and the performance more than made up for this and fast paced shooters but it was limiting but the story is different here though as from the moment I turn this on I

didn't get why expected I didn't get atrocious image quality I didn't get washed out images in fact I got something that looked a little bit like an IPS panel and through something that this price aimed at this market I was really impressed out of the box it is certainly too bright and contrast II and it is quite difficult to get rid of a bit of color shift with whites ending up a little bit green or magenta but for general use this monitor is going to be absolutely fine and unlike so many gaming panels the screen is never flat or washed out it really is a new generation for

TN and while I certainly won't be going near this for color grading or photo editing your games will indeed look rich and vibrant and perhaps most importantly uncompromised so now that my biggest gripe with budget gaming monitors has been improved dramatically we can now get on to talk about performance which as you'd expect from a gaming monitor that uses a TN panel is absolutely fantastic input lag is pretty much imperceivable and after enabling the 144 Hertz refresh rate everything just becomes that little bit more fluid as you guys no doubt know

by now I'm a pub G addict and this is the ideal monitor for shooters mouse movements are nothing but an extension of your brains inner monologue and high refresh rate monitor can sort of help out smooth out what you're trying to do versus what your in-game character actually does in plain English it makes it easier for you to shoot the baddies if you're rocking an AMD graphics card then there's also free sync technology which can help reduce the stutter and tearing in your game by dynamically adjusting the monitors refresh rate to match your in-

game frame rates but even with an NVIDIA GPU I've been so happy using this the level of responsiveness really is up there with some of the finest monitors I've ever used make no mistake this is definitely not the best monitor in the world by a large margin and larger higher resolution and of course more color accurate panels exist and they are worth the extra cash if you habet but when it comes down to the physical feel of the game I'm confident that you'd find this a huge step up versus any sixty Hertz monitor and I believe you'd be hard-pressed to find

something that feels that much better in any practical sense if you can't already tell I'm really a big fan of this monitor I was using one of the original high refresh rate monitors when they first came out six seven years ago and I was trundling through the subpar image quality to get those extra kills and smites or in my case we're always trying to get extra kills if you want a pure gaming monitor  then look no further as this really does take all the right boxes

and it easily wins the gold award if you're after something a bit cheaper then you can also consider the 75 Hertz LG MP six eight and you can find my review in the top right hand corner of your screen I'll leave links to this product down in the description below if you want to check out things like current pricing.

AOC G2590FX 25" Framless Gaming Monitor review

an unboxing on this angle C DM in monitor so let's cut the seal on the spot take a look what's inside so on the outside so far as you could see it's a 25 inch monitor it carries AMD freesync it's supposed to be juicing compatible so I'll see about that because I purchase it on Amazon  so the link will be below in the description if you need to purchase it so on Amazon it says his g-sync when I got it it says in be freezing it is also 144 Hertz so that's a refresh rate with a

one minute per second response time let's take a look inside the box so first thing we have here is an HDMI cable we have the power card we also have a quick set-up guide you have this stunt for the monitor go ahead alright here we have a bottle span which will mount to the base I'll get that in the morning Oh Bart as you can see we have our straight tight and just walk at the forum so we are a bit dusty you see monitor so I'm just going to go ahead and connect it to the

stand so I'm just going to set my base down so I'm just gonna take this time just put it on top of the base it should just not right in here we go and I'm gonna mount it on these little part right here much is where you want to call it on the walk on the monitor in order to do it show you there is a little button right here I wish you use to push to release or just snap snap in so I'm just gonna put it there and then push that button there it is supposed to snap right in so there

we have our review before aoc budget gaming monitor so AOC actually claim that this monitor is a frameless gaming monitor so as you can see the bezel and the edges extremely thin but I don't think you're gonna get damage all the way so there will be a black line in right there I don't know you could see that on the camera but as soon as I connect it up you should be able to see what I'm talking about the bucket is monitored below we have a few ports so the first one

here we have is for the poor cable I'm just gonna remove the so you guys could see the other ports clearly then we have HDMI port to HDMI ports so that's one there next one there then we have a discipline port for VG and then we are for three millimeter consider a funny audio if you want to take the other from the monitor to external speaker and then what am i oh we have some vent in and we have some also a buck right here for your speaker on the two side it also

carries a Kensington lock out see on the left side of the monitor if it's facing you and the port will be on the right side of the monitor if it's facing you so I'm just gonna get this monitor hooked up and then get back to you guys to show you how the quality one thing I have mentioned is that this one of days are so capable if you wanna mount on your wall I feel verdicts mount you could just remove these four screws and go ahead and mount it the one

number of this monitor is its AOC and the model number is g20 590 fix okay guys so as you couldn't see I have the monitor hooked up and there is also little notice up top here that says warning do not rip off plastic front panel so there is like a protective layer and discreet so when you remove in the plastic around the edges just be careful let's remove the one on the screen okay so while I was messing around with in writer I have noticed that I have of any option for

g-sync so 18-day mislabel the monitor and a result so if you look into by this monitor in order to take advantage of the g-sync do not buy this monitor it only has AMD freesync but so far I managed to get the 144 refresh rate and in order to get that you will have to put it under 1080p in the PC section if I go to Ultra HD and say 1080p refresh rate is only gonna be 60 as you can see there so those are very fresh rate available so what I've done is PC and then there is a

refresh rate it goes up to 140 yards 144 all right so other than that it's a pretty good system for gaming and the power button on the back of this system what it basically does it does more than one feature and one of the feature is its like a joystick so you could push it and then you'll get some option at the bottom here we have luminance Bravo color setup we have our picture boosts we have our OSD setup and diem settings and we have extras also in the extra we have

our 144 arts refresh rate and if I should go to the Nvidia panel and change it apply that settings so this item is been applied click yes and I eat menu again and I need to go back the extra it's gonna change to 60 right so as you could see with a frequency at 60 Hertz so I'm just gonna go ahead and do a quick demonstration on gaming and to see , just so far for suresies pretty

good because when I played this game on the TV maybe it's a lot , it's tremendous oh my god Harbor driving so what I've done I've changed the settings back to sixty Earth's refresh rate so let's see the difference everyone could see it was unlocked right here and the response there go again ,] there you go see the is like a linear and they display so this one .

about four years ago a much younger version of me proclaimed that they a ocg 2460 PKU was the best 1080p 440 first gaming monitor you could buy since then the monitor world has changed a little bit there's some new features that can i standard and some new things are a little bit better and since then i OC have made some changes to their already impressive lineup to produce this the g25 90px we're gonna take a look at it in the video so let's jump in sir so

what's new here then well we've got a very similar TN panel it's so 1080p 1920 by 1080 it's still a hundred and forty-four Hertz and as I tested with the UFO frame skipping test this is true hundred and forty four Hertz which is great to see you with some nice high-speed capture for you and otherwise you have a one more second great degree response time which is actually very nice obviously for the more fast-paced games something like csgo for example that plus the

high refresh rate means you're gonna have a very smooth also very quick and fast reaction time experience there's a panel itself in terms of viewing angles hasn't really improved much the SATA sides are still pretty decent especially for ATM but top and bottom really are not recommended they're really they're just just not fantastic and I think we should really forget the ability to look at the monitor anything other than straight on or maybe slightly to the side

so all the viewing goes on this aren't the best in terms of the car accuracy it's actually not too bad my data color spider 5 was testing as usual using the display Cal software and that said that the panel was capable of her votes 91% of the srgb spectrum by coverage and then we have I think 63% of the Adobe RGB gamuts and then the DCI p3 was up at 65% so not terrible you wouldn't want to be doing constants to work on it but it does a pretty decent job especially for a

gaming monitor and finally one of the new features that we've also added as standard is free sync there was the g20 for 60p F but when comparing to the older pqu of so that one didn't have any sort of adaptive sync and I should also mention for those of you who gonna argue in the comments the because the Amazon listing for this says adaptive sync instead of free sync I'm somehow lying to you know I've tested it the system that is hanging on the bottom of this

table has an arcs 480 and it's currently running with free sync on so no don't tell me the adapter thing isn't free sync because it is and it's working no jumper but to these similarities and differences the stand is actually pretty similar to the original one you still have about 130 millimetres of height adjust you still have about 20 ish degrees of tilt available to you and then 45 degrees left and right of swivel and you can also rotate the little surf only two degrees to be a

portrait mode display now the portrait mode is not something I personally recommend as I actually have the g20 460 P key you in portrait mode at the moment and because of those top and bottom viewing angles when you rotate the display those become side to side which means if you're not sensing perfectly straight onto your portrait monitor then it can be a little bit Sam let's say enough to look at in terms of the IO that's also a little bit different this monster has two

HDMI ports both of which are HDMI 1.4 and one DisplayPort which is a DisplayPort 1.2 force you also have VGA for those old you know laptops or backwards compatibility if you you know can't find literally anything else you can use that if you fancy and otherwise you also have a USB hub no the old one did have a USB hub but this one is there USB 3 and all rearward-facing at the back still with one charging port which is great to see if you went to gaming playing

games and this was a joy it was a great experience very smooth very fluid and of course the the fast response time with the the panel and all that sort of stuff was very nice to see I would mention though that just in my personal experience that the video that I filmed literally yesterday was the asus 4k 140 first litter so it is a little bit hard to compare despite you know this being literally 1/10 the price of that but i'm either way it is still a very impressive motor

and it's definitely recommended for a very smooth and enjoyable gaming experience especially if you have an AMD GPU I was using the RX 4 Hz as I mentioned but the RX v 8c especially the price that they're selling right now would make an awesome companion for this thanks to the free sing condition and of course even if you do have an NVIDIA GPU you're still gonna have a good time playing on this well you won't be able to make use of the adaptive sync technology use as it doesn't have GN support it's still an incredibly impressive answer and

actually not too bad value to either so conclusion time the g25 90px is a highly recommended monitor for me it's currently at least on Amazon in the UK and this will vary so check out the link to the description but currently it's selling  and the FX brother which is the the same panel but doesn't have a USB hub on the back and has 8 of less adjustable stand that one is selling for 208 so if you want one of the cheapest you know 141st at 1080p gaming

displays and you can go for that one of course there are some offerings from like older offerings from Asus and Acer that you know are a little bit cheaper but at the same time do bear in mind that this is a little bit newer so may have a little bit nicer of a panel compared to those ones obviously has a few extra features like the USB hub and obviously free sync if you got an AMD APU that could be a pretty decent value ad for you so feel free to take a look at the different

options I will leave link to this one in the description down below to your local Amazon store we can check that out but either way I do highly recommend this now when I put this on my desk well actually I'd be pretty happy to yeah it's a great monitor it's fantastic for gaming of course my current set-up includes basically the same thing besides obviously the nice red accent to the bottom otherwise I'd be very happy to recommend it it's a very stylish quality monitor that

Sam I generally have just very much enjoyed playing with playing on social stuff so yeah highly highly recommended of course if you're interested in picking one up and as I said take a look at the link in the description down below that link will also give you pricing information if you fancy it so even if you're not necessarily planning on buying right now then you can check out and see what's our price it is with you otherwise if you want to support this site keep me

making these reviews on a monday wednesday and friday basis and of course make sure you check out the links in the description there's amazon and over clogs you can't affiliate links which massively helped me out.
