now this is the Intel Core i3 90 100 F it has four cores four threads and it's been out about a month yeah there aren't really any reviews on it and considering it I thought you might sound like a tempting option to those building a PC on say a tighter budget it might be silly to buy anything right now and not wait to see what the rise in 3000 series chips are like and how they affect pricing of other CPUs but hey any sub 

 processor always catches my attention so these are my first impressions I plan to test this again and compare it to a couple of rise and trips including the 3600 next week to see how it stacks up in the grand scheme of things as well as other Intel offerings but for now I decided to let it hog the spotlight as it may not get another chance to do so so the 9100 elf is clocked at 3.6 gigahertz and features turbo boost technology a first for the i3 series which allows it to hit up to 4.2 key guards being an f-series chip it has no integrated graphics hence 

the cheaper price but you're not missing much it supports up to 64 gigs of 24 hundred megahertz ddr4 Ram but I'm being a little more modest with 16 gigs I've also paired it with my trusty 1070 something I feel would actually be a sensible pairing that's or an Rx 580 first of all I was eager to see whereabouts it fit in regarding Cinebench r15 and how it compared to other processes that have been tested turns out it falls just short of the Rison v 1400 but sits pretty close to an 8 threaded 3717 on ki7 single core wires you're looking at similar results to an i5 46 

70 K but that could be overclocked and end up scoring better so why don't we take a look at how this thing handles games will the four throat's hold it back at all and can you expect to see at least 60 FPS most of the time where the gtx 1070 in the system beside it well first of all we started off easy and gave this processor a chance to run csgo with 1080p and the auto settings which set everything to high here the average was 225 frames per second when 1% low of 138 and a point one percent low of eighty meaning that there weren't really any stutters to speak of 

you can see that neither the CPU or GPU are particularly stressed when playing csgo and that's to be expected considering this really isn't a demanding game but it's one that I always get asked to include in the benchmark tests simply because it's still very popular the i3 90/100 F will have no problems in running a Counter Strike global Offensive forgive me if I accidentally say I five at any point in this video I've got an i5 in my personal system and I keep accidentally saying it and having to cut and record the parts again because I don't know it just accidentally 

comes out as i5 instead of a three but the i3 9100 effort does a good job to start with here now in battlefield 5 with the high settings at 1080p once again the settings that we've pretty much remained with throughout the entirety of today's benchmarks you will see an average of close to 100 frames per second we hit 97 on average with a 1% low of 55 and 0.1% low of 45 there will be some instances where the processor hits 100% usage but the same can be said for the graphics card which will touch on 98 or 99% battlefield 5 is more of a CPU intensive game 

hence the high percentages here but the i3 9100 F still seems to handle it quite well especially when paired with this GPU and I think you'll have a pretty decent time first impression so far well things are going quite well if your team Intel you want an Intel chip you don't have much of a budget and the i3 9100 F keeps coming up in your recommendations or it's caught your eye then it really wouldn't be a bad choice but like I say I think it would be a silly time to buy one 

right now because who knows this may also see a price drop in the very near future so that may be another reason to hold out for now it's a similar story in Far Cry New Dawn the newest entry in the series 1080p high ninety-three frames per second on average with one set lows of 73 and point 1% lows of 57 this was the in-game benchmark test which doesn't really differ all that much to gameplay you'll have a decent time regardless when using the i3 again it will max out at 100% every so often which can make you quite nervous if you're constantly observing 

your statistics but if you're just gaming on a daily basis and you don't pay too much attention to CPU usage which most of you probably wouldn't and you don't have MSI Afterburner on or anything like that then you're not really going to notice any performance hiccups and as seen in the figures on screen this 100% usage in the four threads doesn't really affect things all too badly in just calls for we were able to average just over 100 FPS at 1080p with the high preset 101 was the exact average this is more of a GPU intensive game so most of the strain was on the 

gtx 1070 here again this will vary depending on where you are in the map i've said it before but just cause for features such a massive open world map that the performance in one area could be over 100 FPS and in another area it could dip below say 50 but overall you're going to have a very decent time with this game and the i3 90 100 F or that's what I found from playing it for about an hour or so as expected metro Exodus was the most demanding of today's games averaging just 56 fps I say just but it was a pretty decent result the one percent and point one 

percent lows were 30 and 28 respectively but it wasn't necessarily the cpu that was having issues here the graphics card was actually maxing out a 99% 100% usage here and there and this is a GPU intensive game the benchmark result also differs quite a bit from actual in-game performance so you may see a few extra frames when you're actually playing the game across a few different levels overall though it's gonna be an OK experience should you choose the opt with this I 3 in pub G I really wasn't doing much on screen here and this average will depend 

totally on what's happening as the action heats up you may see dips below 60 86 and 34 were the percentile figures here that 34 does indicate Stata and every so often the CPU was touching 100% and I think that's what caused this pub she would probably benefit from the extra threads here of say the closely performing i7 3770 in that Cinebench test this game just likes a few extra cause that's all but in the long run I'd happily play pub G on this I three all day long it certainly did quite well I'm trying to look at this thing on its own here and not make too 

many comparisons to other chips because if you live in a country where this differs in price completely to say arisin then in those instances it may be the only option on the table for some of you so rust is quite a frequently requested game and I spent all day downloading it today and 1080p the heist preset I believe it's called fantastic something like that we averaged 73 frames per second I wasn't really sure what to do I've never played this before I was just running around for a bit I accidentally hit that pause menu and sure enough I had to cut that bit out 

because I wasn't expecting well you know but yeah overall rust seems to run quite well on the i3 so that's what I can really say I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make as we venture further into the game but so far so good now shadow of the Tomb Raider was particularly demanding on the processor with it hitting 100% usage in a lot of instances it's games like this that will make the i3 struggle but you'll still have a pretty decent experience averaging around 75 frames per second with a similar pairing as you can see the one percent

and point one percent lower 48 and 27 respectively that lower figure there being the result of the four threads of the i3 but it's doing okay so far now last but not least we have the witcher 3 1080 p high once again in both the graphics and post-processing options or 84 FPS on average you'll notice that the point 1 percent figure was very low and that's because as we headed towards novigrad here we saw some horrendous stutters with the CPU hitting 100% usage now 

despite the high GPU usage as well when I have the 1070 paired with my i5 I certainly don't see status on this scale so you may want to turn things down a little bit it also seems to be a pretty decent video editing trip as well I've been using it with Premiere Pro to edit this very video and everything seems pretty fast and fluent so it's nice to know that it's pretty capable when it comes to that - at this point in the video I'd like to mention a few comparisons here if you can 

then yes the Rison v 1600 for example or 2600 for just a tiny bit more money would be the better bets here because you are getting the extra cause as well as the hyper-threading I think even the risin 5 1400 would be a better option because although it has 4 cores it does have 8 threads which really helps out in some games so just always be careful to see what else is on the market when you're thinking of buying a CPU I know I said I didn't really want to draw too 

many comparisons is that something I'll say for another review but I think it's important to really carefully consider all of the options available to you on the table although this is priced quite well in my opinion  the Rison 5 1400 can be found for a little bit more sometimes around the same price here in the UK are a bit less and I have seen a couple of deals recently on a rise in 5 1600 whereby - and of course that can be overclocked a little bit if I had to sum up the i3 in one word 

it would be surprising it did better than I thought in a lot of titles today but it's still quite hard to recommend when you consider everything out there if I had to look at it on its own as I've been trying to do I might say it's an OK chip it sort of is hard to ignore the rise and elephant in the room but I think this would still perform average wise quite closely to a couple of rise and 

chips it's just the 1% and point 1% lows that suffer as a result of the 4 threads but we'll have to analyze this a little bit more when I check this out again comparing it to other rise and trips including the long awaited 3600 .

 this should be an Intel i3 90 100 F CPU alright ninth generation so let's go ahead and get it open then we'll talk a little bit more about it you should see some of the components that I have surrounding it that's going to use for my next build for it one is that white computer case they're mid-tower available from new AG via eBay  a really nice case check out my unboxing for that and looks like they did a okay job of packing this I think this is through one of Amazon's vendors for it one of the best prices you can get out there on it so so what before I get into this what I'm going to do for a build we've got an msi Zee 370 

performance motherboard of course that's overkill for this type processor since it does not have a K in the name and the Z 370 is able to be overclocked 90 100 F F in case you don't know means that you will be required to have a video card to start this up you don't have to make sure that your monitor is hooked up to the video card and not to your motherboard because you're not gonna see anything if you don't have a graphics card alright so there's there a couple things about this processor before I get it opened now should be 4 cores 4 threads all right and 

performance-wise if you go to places like CPU user benchmark like I do this processors is honestly from when I saw about the equivalent of an i-5 7600 okay performance wise not only in single core score but multi quad core very similar to that and I want to say it actually performs better than that to be honest with you but not as good as an i-5 7600 K which is an overclockable chip so to be honest with you it not bad that chip is still available to be purchased 

and it runs a hell of a lot more than this thing does now what else do we want to talk about with this folks so I'll get a lot of questions on my page about night Jen you know I have had a couple night gen processors and people are always asking me what motherboards are gonna be good right out the back z3 90 all right then you've got to look for to be honest with you go to Amazon and I'll put some links down below hopefully go to Amazon and look for motherboards that say they're eight to nine chen compatible so we're talking 300 series but you also want to make sure 

that the motherboard you're getting is one of the latest ones and that that will ensure that has an updated bios okay so let's say you buy a motherboard installed and you do a perfect job of installing but you still don't get a picture on your computer screen most likely you need a BIOS update so that it will support a night gen chip okay and now how do you go about that I tell you the simplest thing to do is get a hold of a 8th gen seller on the G 4900 is the cheapest one out there it's  nine cents I have a link for that down below to 

there's some other ones in there that are relatively but that is that it's you know possibly your cheapest route then you dump that CPU on eBay get hopefully 75 percent of your money back the z3 90 motherboards are really pricey be honest with you you could get a cheap board like this guy oops okay I'm just break anything there for the gigabyte each 310 m8 Jen night Jen board okay but this guy needs a BIOS update so if you update that for the price of that motherboard in a CPU at that is about equivalent to what is e 390 motherboard costs 

so if you don't the CPU the the seller on off on eBay and probably the cheapest way to do it all right so luckily in my case I have a lot of CPUs and we are not so concerned about that because I've got enough to eat Jen's here that I can update BIOS now the other thing to do is look for a service that will update your motherboard or possibly something that I occasionally do to make more videos I'll buy a motherboard test it out update the BIOS and sell it on eBay and that 

BIOS will pretty much be brand new you might have a couple hours on it but it will be updated and run your run your night gen chip so and there's probably people out there that will allow you to mill your motherboard to update it and send it back to you that would probably be pretty pricey I'm assuming at least  to ship it now probably anywhere from let's say 12 to 20 to ship it to somebody 12 to 20 plus whatever their service charges if you really find yourself struggling make me you can contact me possibly we can arrive at some kind of deal and I can

 update your motherboard for you if you need it but enough of that alright so this is an unboxing video and people are in here for an unbox so a couple things you probably want to know one does this have a CPU fan which I can tell you cuz the way to the box it does other things about this yeah make sure you get a 300 series motherboard ok like I said so I've got a bunch of them here on the table but you're gonna look for Z 370z 390 H 310 m be 360 and there's probably a couple other ones and you want to make sure though those have the most 

updated by us okay so speeds up to 4.2 gigahertz 4 cores 4 threads and let's go ahead and get her open all right so god I love new technology so from what I had reckon folks and I'll I'll eventually do a benchmark review so you can see it this is uh like I said somewhat equivalent to an i-5 7600 somewhere between that and i-5 7600 K and I want to destroy my box and so that is that's pretty snazzy you know wasn't that long ago people are buying chips like that so this thing's got some decent decent power to it so before we get on to that let's see what our sticker 

says so we have the old user manual and voila there is your core i3 night Jen alright so this will go on the outside of that case ascending the new owner wants it there I'm actually building this for somebody so one thing at a time here and I've done this a zillion times and every time I get confused so I could pull the CPU out first but I'm kind of dragging this out so in case you're watching this and you don't know any better you will get thermal paste on here always suggest

 buying extra thermal paste not not because you need to put more on here it's on there but there may come a point where you screw up your installation and you need thermal paste and you have pretty much wiped all this off and not such a good thing all right plus you may we talked about updating your BIOS you may need to put an H n chip in there update your BIOS and then you're gonna need something like that all right pretty cheap this your standard intel fan these are somewhat noisy to be honest with you for this computer probably not big that big a 

deal I wouldn't recommend a knock to or something really ridiculous expensive but maybe you know spend I think  on a hyper 212 Evo you'd be happy super-quiet I'll have the link down below for that not that I'm trying to pitch everything on here but those are quite a few of the things I deal with super cheap CPU fan for the money alright so nothing spectacular about that but it's nice for you beginners out there to have something like that alright so there is our 

our CPU I don't know if this really is an unbox  unless I at least open it up I don't have my my equipment on here so I don't really want to touch it but there you can see on there I 390 100 F once again the F Foxtrot there is uh letting you know that you need a graphics card okay so another processor you've seen on here is we've had the i5 9400 F on here and not that I've become much of an expert on these things but lo and behold I have become somewhat of an 

expert and so what is that safe three point six eight gigahertz and it speeds up to four point three on there turbo there's the at the bottom which I would say if I put a ton of use together I would not know the difference all right so that's about it folks for this review I will have a benchmark review and then probably well an installation review a benchmark and uh maybe another review where we talk about the computer I'm going to put together before I install it.
