MSI Arsenal Gaming AMD Ryzen 2ND and 3rd Gen AM4 M.2 USB 3 DDR4 DVI HDMI

just over a year ago in September of 2018 I got to show you this awesome B 450 tomahawk motherboard from MSI and I'll put a link in the description I gave you a whole video that you'll get to see like a quick fast run through here of how to build your own all AMD streaming PC to dominate total war or any other game that you want to play well and be able to stream it and be like me get to make content on YouTube or twitch or whatever you do in any case um

they have a really exciting product out why is it exciting well because it's the be 450 tomahawk over again except better you might be saying err why would I need the same motherboard again well let me describe what is different so yes MSI has a new motherboard out for you all it is the B 450 tomahawk max this product was brought about because of the new Rison 3000 series processors there is backwards compatibility with the original B 450 tomahawk and third

generation Rison there are some subtle differences to this new board though that make it really exciting now if you have an old B 450 tomahawk that you used previously because you watched my video or had one on your own that's great you can still use it in a similar but if you have not picked up a B 450 tomahawk and you want to go make a risin third generation build and you don't want to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on just the motherboard then this is the

way to do it x5 70 motherboards are amazing but they're still pretty expensive if you want to do this on a budget this is the way to go this motherboard is absolutely awesome and I'm here to tell you about it and not on this video but coming up next week I'm gonna do another full build so a 2019 how to build your own PC and this time I will tell you how to do a budget option but we're gonna build a beast PC and show you that how even though you can have a budget

motherboard you can build a budget beast max get it maximum performance minimum hassle that's what I Massiah tells me this board is all about and I agree with them and I'm gonna tell you why so let's jump into it take a look at this new be 450 tomahawk max I want to jump into what makes this board different from the last generation well most things are the same and that's a good thing you can go look at reviews outside of me and this was one of the most

acclaimed motherboards the B 450 series out there period made by anybody because it just delivered a fantastic value with great great capability and mirror that with the price and you just you had a real winner all kinds of tech enthusiasts really recommended this board as do I anyway the be 450 max comes with a larger BIOS chip which is gonna help with compatibility with all the new risin 3000 processors and it comes ready on the shelf Verizon 3000 if you buy

an original B 450 it can be upgraded the BIOS can but it has to be flashed before you're able to use the new Rison 3000 CPUs so the max comes ready for it and honestly I was looking at the price on these two boards and they were pretty much the same so there's really no reason not to grab the new one if they're out there doing a build for the first time now if you only original which was an awesome board to begin with you can always update it but the larger BIOS chip

on this one is gonna mean that it's gonna also be better going forward as it will continue to have nice compatibility as new CPUs come out from AMD also this one supports higher RAM speed the older motherboard was capped at 3466 for the max ram speed support and this one goes all the way up to 40 133 megahertz which is just blazing lightning fast ram speed and that makes a difference with the third generation rising CPUs it helps boost their performance also it comes

with USB three-point 2 ports instead of 3.1 so slightly better performance there and then of course the new board as you saw in the pictures that I'll flash up there again now is black instead of the silver like you were seeing on the old now long and short of it is if you're out there looking through the third generation rise and build and take advantage all the the awesome features of the new processors then you're not gonna find a better value than the B 450

tomahawk max I love this board I kept it in this extra build that I've had at my house ever since they sent it to me last year and I have recommended it just about anybody who comes to me asking to build a computer it's because it really is fantastic and really one of the only reasons I don't use this because I'm blessed to have enough money and the sponsorship that I can use even fancier ones but I'm telling you if I was out there and money was on mine that I had to

pick one this is what I would pick now like I said I am gonna do a build video but let's just real quick I'll show you what's in the box you've got basically all your warranty quick installation a reminder that if you review products from asahi have a chance to win prizes it comes with a couple of SATA cables for plugging in hard drives optical drives whatever you need there it's got an input/output shield obviously nice neutral black color does exactly what you need it to

here's those SATA cables handy for someone doing any build you got your drivers on a disk if needed otherwise obviously you can connect to the internet and download those straight from the site got a manual here I have done a lot of bills with MSI as motherboards and these manuals are great they have a lot of solid information for someone doing their first building you even get this sweet dragon decal which I absolutely love for putting on the front of my builds just to let everybody know that it's dragon dominant anyway yeah that's what comes in

the box again max performance man hassle not a whole bunch of stuff it's exactly what you need for your bill alright folks so I put together two parts lists for you and I will have a link to them in the review this is on PC part picker you all can go check these out for yourself and I'm giving you two options the first one is amazing because that this is just where we're at in late 2019 building a PC is about as affordable as it's ever gonna get and I'm gonna tell you the

strategy this first one is what I call max performance minimum hassle budget version meaning let's say that you want to get the parts build your own PC just to get your foot in the water something that's gonna run your games at high but but as best as possible fit a budget that you have to work hard for and that's what I've got here and especially if you get out and get a copy of Windows for a good price which is totally possible this is without windows but 779 us right

now for this build it's a risin 520 600 the be 450 tomahawk max from MSI you got 16 gigs ram terabyte a hard drive an SSD to boot up starting to run your favorite games off of an msi geforce 16 60 TI great for running the games in terms of getting good 1080p performance and then this is kind of a good deal here i thought this case from Coolermaster is awesome you get RGB and tempered glass for at least  now this is a steel because we're gonna keep this thing for later and i'll show you what you can do with this pc eventually or even now plus it's

gonna look great you can get a bunch of build and it looks awesome you can't beat that with a stick and then for the power supply i've got a nice 600 watts Braun to power supply so this is a budget version now the cool thing about this budget version is you can get it now you can save up get it this holiday you're gonna have a computer that's a boss at 1080p thanks to this be 450 tomahawk max board and the flexibility that it gives you you don't have to go in and break the

bank to have an awesome computer and I will show you a build I have that is very close to this exact same thing and how good it runs in the next video where we do the builds but I basically have a build very similar to this built up already then we also have the what I like to call max performance min hassle beast mode so this is if you want to take this be 450 tomahawk max to the max hey max performance med hassle right so a risin 930 900 X well err why would

someone buy a budget motherboard and then the most expensive chip well I'm just I'm giving you a thought you can do this here but also 200 IQ right you want to be 200 IQ you don't spend a ton of money now and then maybe a little while from now when this 12 core processors a little cheaper boom 200 IQ you got the motherboard that'll run it without having to break the bank

and you get a good deal on the processor later so ya think about that but anyway this is a build and this thing will be an absolute killer in gaming streaming whatever you want it to do an absolute beast of a PC so rise and I'm 3900 X on that B 450 tomahawk max with a liquid cooler 32 gigs of RGB goodness with the RAM a terabyte m dot 2 SSD for blazing fast load times and Buddha and MSI Radeon 5700 XT for amazing gaming performance even at 2k or 4k and then

the same case just to show you all here these sometimes a good deal just a good deal right and then I threw in a gold certified modular power supply this time but yeah this board can go at both ends of the spectrum from absolute budget to absolute beast I can't wait to show you all the builds please come back next week and check out the bills thank you them aside for sending

this motherboard over to me I'm actually super excited about this because I've been waiting on this board to show you all what I think is the best way to build a computer in late 2019 hopefully in time for the holidays which are coming up to use if you've been good been saving your money or you're ready to just jump in I got the builds for you.

MSI Arsenal Gaming AMD Ryzen 2ND and 3rd Gen AM4 M.2 USB 3 DDR4 DVI HDMI

I have it turned up vertically so you can see it I've installed both the Rison five twenty six hundred and twenty six hundred X I have tested it both stock and overclocked and we're gonna take a detailed look at this motherboard today before we get to that I want to talk to you briefly about floatplane floatplane is the monthly subscription only service hosted by linus media group per month you get ad free viewing downloadable videos early access videos

many of these videos you're looking at right here are not yet on youtube they will be but they're not yet you get both of the tech deals channels tech deals and tech deals gaming and exclusive videos visit the Microsoft Store or visit to the Tesla Model X that's my daughter sitting right there those are not main channel videos but those will never be on YouTube and then of course a bunch of benchmarks and some other things that you otherwise would not see now there are

other content creators there each one is three dollars a month and it directly supports the creators so if you want add free access if you want early access downloadable reviews and if you want to know that you're supporting tech deals please consider signing up using the link down in the review description below  the MSI B 450 tomahawk makes an excellent mid-range board for an excellent mid-range system it's not designed for top-of-the-line computers nor is it

really meant for super budget systems if you're putting together say a Rison 320 200g ultra budget system it might be a bit much the sixty to eighty dollar boards make more sense likewise Rison 720 700 X frankly deserves a hundred and fifty to two hundred hour X 470 board at least but for all the CPUs in the middle this is very worth considering from a Rison 520 400 G to a Rison 526 106 score 12 friendship to arisin 7 1700 or 2700 nan X chip this makes a nice choice

it's got lots of features on it USB 3.1 gen2 both type a and type C Intel Gigabit Ethernet rather than real tech now the onboard audio is real tech but it's an ALC 800 series 7.1 HD audio with optical out as an option which is nice and it has all the audio ports on the back for a surround sound system without having to use the front ports so it does have a decent built-in audio

system good video out jacks in the back if you want to use the APU or not put a dedicated card in it does have an MDM to slot that will take an nvme solid-state drive or a SATA M to drive which is what I have installed here the crucial MX 500 works very well it has headers on the board for USB 2 and USB 3 ports on the front of your case in addition to the ones on the back and multiple PCI Express slots including crossfire support it's a nice mid-range board for

anything from about a risin 520 400g up to a risin 7 non x chip now that's all well and good you say but what about the X chips what if you want to do a 2600 X or 2700 X to be honest I would spend the extra to move from the B 450 tomahawk to the X 470 gaming plus at a minimum you might want to go one or two steps above that but at least go to the X 470 gaming plus 129 it doesn't get you really any more features on the board same onboard audio Realtek ALC 800

series same Intel Gigabit Ethernet same single m dot 2 slot basically same crossfire support there is no SLI support on this board these two boards are extremely similar in most respects except one that's very important power delivery the voltage regulation this has a single 8 pin CPU power connector and it has less V RMS on it than this does and this has an 8 pin plus a 4 pin for better overclocking support that's what you're paying their extra  for if you're

getting an X chip get an X 470 with better power delivery it's not just about the chipset itself but it's about the power delivery that manufacturers choose to put on it and so that's where I would make the extra step if you don't plan to overclock if you plan to use one of the non ex chips there's no need to buy the x4 70 it doesn't do anything for you that the B 450 doesn't at stock speeds the performance is identical the features are basically identical it's just all about

the overclocking which ironically is not about the chipset because they're both overclocked but it's about the power delivery so what all do you get in the box when you buy a B 450 tomahawk well of course you get the motherboard itself which is already installed on my test bench you saw that I turned it up so that you could see the i/o shield on the back it screen printed and very nice there is a ps2 port back there an HDMI 2.0 port a DVI port now those ports only work if

you install one of the APU such as the Rison 520 400 G there are two USB 2.0 ports there are two USB 3.1 gen2 USB 3.1 gen2 ports one type-a one type C 10 gigabit per second you can see the six audio jacks of the realtek ALC 800 series audio for the 7.1 surround sound system and of course the Intel Gigabit Ethernet what else do you get you get two SATA cables for data for connecting two and a half inch or three and half inch hard drives or SSDs you get a red msi

sticker for the front of your case you get a fold out pamphlet from msi advertising their stuff you get a card reminding you to register your motherboard you get a very nice drink coaster to put your coffee wait a minute that's a driver CD this is a drink coaster please don't ever use these to set anything up you wanted to unload the latest drivers from AMD you want to look download the latest drivers from MSI's website really frankly i don't know why they still

include these they do but yeah don't use that they include a QuickStart guide and this is actually really useful because not only does it say here's how you put your CPU in but it has important pin outs such as the front panel motherboard connectors how to connect your reset switch power switch LEDs etc I actually use this QuickStart guide when I put this on here didn't even have to go to the user manual the user manual this is all in English it's one language it's very very good it explains everything on this board all of the connectors every pin every

header on the board is explained to detail and it goes to the BIOS as well to explain in basic detail all of the Maas functions and that's pretty much it it's a mid-range B 450 motherboard that will work well with any of those CPUs that I mentioned build yourself a mid-range computer I did install Windows 10 on this everything worked out of the box without any problems went to AMD's website downloaded the latest drivers no problem there I installed it

on a crucial em X 500 m dot 2 SATA SSD everything worked first time every time when running system stability stress tests at stock speed both the tour horizon 520 600 and the rise in 520 600 X were 100% stable for extended time overclocking results were poor if you want to overclock at least get that X 470 right there the V RMS on it or better you will get better overclocking results I would not recommend this board if overclocking is your goal but if stock clock speeds and excellent power efficiency is your goal I had no problems with 100% stability .
