alright guys so it feels like we haven't done a gaming headset review in a very long time and to be honest that's really because we haven't there hasn't been much that's come out but today we have the Turtle Beach recon 70 now I do want to say that they have a Nintendo switch version an Xbox one and a ps4 version they're pretty much all the same they're just different color variations now the one thing that I do want to point out right off the bat this is agaming headset so we have to keep that in mind because the first thing that I noticed is man this doesn't feel like

normal gaming headsets well it's because the ones I'm normally trying out our way way way more so we all have to kind of keep in mind and who this is for so before we get into all the details the one thing I do want to point out is the Nintendo switch version for some reason is available on Amazon but the PlayStation 4 the Xbox one shows release as May 1st so I think the official release date is May 1st but there will be links below to all three just in case you're interested so one of the things that I want to point out is on the top of the box under the

fact that it says this is a Nintendo switch it also says that it works for the ps4 the Xbox one all that so all three versions will work on either system it just depends on what your color preferences so in the box this is simple there's no accessories you open the box you just get the headset and you get some instructions which really you don't need instructions because there's no additional connections the wire on this is non detachable so it's already attached to this and

that can be a plus or minus the big minus obviously is if something goes wrong with the cable you're kind of screwed you can't just buy another cable but the big pro to this is you can't lose the cable either so if these are for a kid or somebody that's taking these on the go your cables always attached and it's just one less thing you have to keep up with now the cable itself is the rubber like coated silicon it's it's not extremely long but it definitely do the trick you don't want

a long cable if you're gonna be plugging this like into your mobile device your switch or whatever on the go and have like 10 feet of cable so I get why they did this the build quality of these now when I took them out of the box I felt they were really light and they're really plastic so obviously the you know warning sign is are these things gonna break easily once you start to bend them and twist them and stuff like that it makes you feel a little bit better a little bit better

that these aren't gonna break now one thing I do want to point out that I noticed right around the headband area on the left and right hand side basically where the ear pad stops you see this tiny little cable now that's the cable that runs from one side to the other you can see that thin little cable now at any given moment that could catch on something in a bag and yank that's gonna pull that headband piece out which to be honest is just a really thin little pleather not

very much padding but again like I said this is one of the lightest headsets I've ever felt so padding is not necessary because when they're on your ears they're not heavy there's not weight on the top of your head they're actually really comfortable as far as the extenders go you can see that it just kind of extends within the top part of the headband they do not fold flat but they do swivel to lay flat the pleather ear pads honestly are really soft and there is a very big opening

inside so these are considered over the ear and I think no matter what your ear size you're not gonna have an issue with these fitting the right way now as you can see this one is red with the turtlebeach logo inside the ear pad now depending on which model you get it'll be blue or green the branding on the outside is really minimal that course it has turtlebeach right up top but it's just kind of like a little embossed it's not a bright color or anything obnoxious as far as comfort

goes this is an extremely lightweight comfortable headset now on your left hand side on the back is your converter will that is just for game volume only there's no way to control the microphone volume now the microphone on here is not detachable it is one of those that when you fold it down it turns it on and then when you fold it back up it'll turn it off so again I would have liked to have mic controls even if it was on the cable but speaking of the microphone let's

do a mic test right here alright guys so here is the mic quality on the Turtle Beach recon 70 this again is what it's going to sound like if you're using it across all the gaming systems now if you want to use it on PC you are going to need the splitter cable because this is just a single cable obviously PC has the input for the headphone and for the microphone but I think

again if you curb your expectations this is more than passable for a gaming headset now it's time to get into the big thing we got to talk about sound and I'll have to save for bucks I think turtlebeach did a really good job here with the Recon 70 I think it falls in line with the HyperX stinger which goes for forty to fifty dollars so I think sound wise is exactly where it

needs to be these do not have like booming upfront bass like a lot of turtle beats headsets do to me they're really clear and I can tell that that's where the focus in this headset is it's more in the clarity and the mid-range so your troubles are extremely clear and again when they say that this is made for Battle Royale that's pretty much what this is because in Battle Royale you

really want to be able to pinpoint and hear where everybody is now this isn't a surround sound gaming headset but the sound imaging and their ability to kind of just space out your sound is really really impressive I would have liked for these to have a little more bass but that is a sound preference of mine most gamers their main focus is going to be on clarity and being able to pinpoint where stuff is located and for these really are impressive in that aspect I

think if you're going in and you're just spending on a gaming headset you can't really expect this full spectrum of sound but booming bass but crystal clear highs and you know perfectly balanced mids but again the way that they altered and did this headset I'm impressed I really think going into it I was just expecting like boomy bass and more of a muddier sound more of a mainstream type headphone sound and that he can go with that they went with a

clearer sound picking up great mid-range which is so important in gaming that most people don't understand so that's my video on the turtlebeach Recon 70 definitely gets my approval for I mean it ticks all the boxes and it's not doing anything you know over the top obviously you're getting what you're paying for but in this case I feel like you're getting a little bit more than paying for .

the turtle beach recon 70 wired gaming headset now this is specifically the Xbox one version of the headset so I'm really excited to show you everything that there is to know about this product ,now there are several different versions of the Recon 70 out there as there's a version for every major console so there's a ps4 version and there's a Nintendo switch version as well however the only difference between those different versions is the color so with all the

different versions you're getting the same exact hardware in fact you can use the ps4 headset with your Xbox or your Xbox headset with your Nintendo switch or if you want to use any of these with your PC you can do that as well and you can see on the back of the box that even indicates that so that's pretty cool now this device retails for you can find this at Amazon you can also find this at brick-and-mortar retailers such as Best Buy Target and Walmart so

finding a place to buy this headset certainly is not a problem so on the front of the box here we have the Xbox branding up top we have a picture of the actual product itself flipping over to the side it says surround sound ready for Xbox one which is great then on the back side we have another picture of the headset with some of the highlights pointed out so again surround sound ready premium ear cushions which I'm gonna be giving you my own personal opinion about

that as soon as I put these on there's a flip up microphone the whole unit features lightweight technology and it has high-quality 40 millimeter speakers and of course the connection is 3.5 millimeters so I'm gonna cut open the seal here so that we can dig into the packaging we'll open the lid another thing I want to mention too is that I've actually been using a turtle beach headset for a while now it's an older model but I use it with both my xbox 1s and my computer

so we have some informational literature right here we have the actual headset itself and that is everything that's included in the box so I'm definitely looking forward to replacing my current gaming headset with this one it's definitely going to be an upgrade and I'm still gonna be keeping my old one but I'm gonna be saving it for friends when they come over and we want to play video games together because it's really helpful to have separate audio especially when two

people are gaming in the same room now the color itself is more of an olive green versus a bright neon green color so just in case you're confused with the actual shade of green through the video that's what it looks like now the actual cable itself is pretty long it's not a braided cable or anything like that but this is about the quality that I'd expect to see at the price tag we do not have any volume controls in the actual cable itself instead the volume controls are actually located in the left ear cup so you can see right here that we have that volume dial so if

you turn it all the way down your headsets volume will be zero if you turn all the way up of course it's going to be at the loudest it can possibly be and you're probably wondering at this point where the mute button is so when the microphone is in the down position it's unmuted and works as normal but if you move it up that's actually how you mute the mic so that's really cool and makes a lot of sense and it really saves us from having one extra button so a great

design overall from turtlebeach the actual ear cups themselves feel really nice to the touch definitely feel like a nice high quality material here and this material doesn't feel cheap at all then on top we have a little bit more padding definitely a lot of flexibility here but in a good way so that it fits pretty much any size head and we have adjustments on both sides so that you can make this exactly how you need it to be for maximum comfort now connecting this to your xbox

is really easy literally all you do is just take the 3.5 millimeter adapter here and plug it into the jack on your controller and just like that you're good to go in the audio and your mic in will flow through the controller and if you want to use this with your gaming PC you do it the same exact way assuming that you have a jack on there for both audio in and out all you have to do is just plug this right in and you're good to go so now for the fun part I'm gonna go grab my xbox and we will give this a try , so overall I'm a big fan of the Recon 70 gaming headset from

turtlebeach it's definitely a big upgrade over what I've been using and I especially like how comfortable the ear cups are on my ears in addition to that I'm a big fan of the way that the microphone works how I can just slide it up and it mutes it automatically I also like how the mic doesn't stick too far out in front of me especially because if I want to have a snack while I'm playing games I don't have to move the mic out of the way because it's situated a decent ways

the turtle beach recon 70 they almost look like a spitting image of those recon 200s that we recently reviewed right and speaking about that how these recon 70s look similar to the Recon two hundreds I'm gonna start introducing a new review format into this site here which is kind of like it's gonna have like a comparison like let's say this or this whether it be a mouse or keyboard or headset which one we better eye review so many products it's something you know

a lot of the products i review i really really like and some years might be wondering well gee should i get that one or that one what's really different from that one of that was what can I do like I don't know if I want to call it a versus you know but it'll be like okay recon 70 or the recon 200 something like that or or verse whatever it may be just just a basic comparison now

we're still gonna keep on doing our just basic product reviews right which we all love but again I'm just gonna kind of throw this in there just be a quick little rundown of hey this one or this one but anyways let's want to get into the Recon 70 check this out right here it says bill for Battle Royale right over here on the side it says dominate the map and plush ear cushions that keep you comfortable from one hundred to one heck I just need to be comfortable from 100 and

maybe like I don't know maybe 95 , now first off as you guys see right here it says for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro right now this headset comes in black and green white and green blue and black white and black black and red and then this red and black here and each of the color schemes are for console obviously the green for Xbox the Blues for PlayStation this red here is a Best Buy exclusive and when we talk about that the different colors and for whichever system you use it on they are all 3.5 so they are all gonna work across

every single platform so you don't gotta worry about you can plug this into your xbox controller your PlayStation controller your PC or your Nintendo switch so just get whatever a stinking color you like and speaking of color y'all know I love me some red and black right you make something that's red and black I'm more than likely gonna scoop it up you know so that's why I picked up this set this headsets been out for I don't know maybe about a month or so but

this color just released I think yesterday actually you know so I was kind of waiting for this one and I'm not very happy with it I don't know if the camera really picks it up if you guys saw any close-ups there see it's so hard to tell but this red it's it's very kind of like maybe a little faded red kind of you kind of get more of a burgundy vibe from it you know what I mean like I'm

looking at in the camera and it looks pretty stinking red but uh honestly when you're looking at in real life right here it feels like a faded red not that real crisp just punchy red so honestly if I could redo it I wish I would have got the black and red set which is the Nintendo switch one because that red on there looks really punchy in contrasting with that black with the red accents looks really good but again that's just style that's not really you know downfall on that

headset or anything like that but again just wanted to point it out that this is not that punchy kind of red so let's start like we always do number one comfort so I mean they are comfortable they're extremely light and when you put them on your head like it's just that perfect fit it's not too tight it's not too loose it is right there as far as comfort you adjust the headset on the side just like that it just pulls up you have your clicks in between right there you have plenty of

motion within the ear cups as you can see them going in and and then you can fold a flat back there so whatever shape a head glasses or anything they're gonna fit you perfect now you do just have that little padding on the top up there but honestly it's it's perfect it's just enough it grips on the side of your head and then rest right up there and you honestly almost forget it's on your head it's that comfortable so we get a pass in the comfort department now let's go

ahead and talk about sound now yes it says playstation 4 playstation 4 pro but like I said super 5 so use it across any device so I tested across every device well everything except the Xbox I did PlayStation Nintendo switch and PC and we're going to start with PC because that's what I play on the most and it didn't sound good on PC to be honest with you yet I was a little disappointed you know what I mean they I just couldn't get them really just loud enough I'd

say like the sound quality was fine maybe it's my old ears you know but I just couldn't get them loud enough and that's going through all my PC settings and then within the headset as well right which right back here as you saw on the closest before you have your volume rocker right there on the back and that's really the only control on it now when we went to the Nintendo switch they sounded fantastic I mean they sounded really really good I was very shocked with it

especially for the price and then I went ahead and plugged it into the PlayStation start place I'm on charter for Mamma Mia that's such a great game but anyways I started playing that didn't uh wow I don't know if it was the headset or the game but I just I sent they're testing them out for a lot longer than I intended on but like I said sitting me sitting there playing Uncharted on the PlayStation 4 I got really sucked into and just immerse that the sound was

good again is it the best headset you're gonna find it no but it's right so kind of take it like that like you're buying a headset it's not gonna be this you know rock and just punch and just crazy headset you know but for as far as sound on console I think we get a win again I don't recommend you scooping these up for PC maybe you want to look at the Atlas line

or something like that but a four console I say we get a win now one thing I do want to point out before we get into the mic test here is just the build quality right this kind of brings me back a little bit to the old turtlebeach style like again as you guys have seen any close up if you can see that arm right there there you go that's a little bit better you can see that arm is plastic and inside of it is plastic as well there's no honestly like looking over here there's no metal but as of

right now how it is I'm stretching it and been in the build quality it's there but like I said you might want to be a little more careful with this guy because it's all plastic now as far as the bike it is flip up to mute as you see it's right down there that's what it will be active and then you flip it up in its mute now there's no controls as we talked about before the only control on the back in the headset is the volume there's no voice chat no mic monitoring anything like that on here

you can probably adjust all that stuff within your system you're using whether it be Xbox or whatnot you know but as far as headset that is what you got alright so as you're hearing the mic through the headset that we're using right now it's not the best but honestly in my opinion for a headset I think it passes so all in all I mean what do we think about the Recon 70 I like them I really do for it's a fantastic headset I get it for that you know what I

mean sure that bill quality is not the best the sound quality is not the best but again we got a class it in that price range right and at that price range I think it's good and that's where I'm gonna leave it right there at good and don't think just that I say it's good is me saying oh hey it's not worth getting or it's a piece of junk really not at all at that price range I think this is a pretty solid headset especially for your kids or something like that right you

want to go off and buy some you know three four on your headset I think they can be pretty happy with this a the comfort sound as far as console you got a win here right the only thing I would suggest in my opinion is don't get this all red version right get one of the other colors because again this red just looks cheesy to me so let me know that in the comments do you own the Recon 70s are you thinking about picking them up again at that price range I think we

got a pretty good deal I'm sure these things are gonna go on sale and when they hit that price range I think you're gonna have yourself a steal.

this is the eternal beach your forest from econ 70 this is the latest in their lineup wired headsets this is sort of the the lower end this is the Xbox model but it does come in a number of colors and options and it'll be a very similar headset across those iterations I usually use the green screen but this is green and I didn't want to put up the blue screen so that's what we're kind of dealing with so what's very interesting about the cases they come in at a very cheap kind of

price point normally I don't really like to kind of know prices and everything because they change things go on sale and I really like to kind of rate based on quality in comparison to other models that are available but I will mention that these ones come in at a kind of cost which is really really quite sheet for headsets especially one that has features such as this so you look at the box pretty standard kind of look for their boxes you get details on the back and

everything like that so you get 40 millimeter surround speakers the cushions and lightweight comfort and Windows sonic and everything like that it is included in these so you get the kind of features the high-end model but you just get it in a more price factor area for those that are wanting to kind of listen to the sound of it we have a mic test right at this point which was

captured on my old iPhone I'm just audio wise really just a spot for that Turtle Beach recon 70 wired gaming headset audio mic test so that's how it sounds so this is the model of the headphone it's very kind of lightweight there's not much to it you get a fairly lengthy cord it's like wrapped around here but really good so what you do because this is on the Xbox or just even as an example you just plug this into the 3.55 alright 3.5 millimeter on the bottom of the

controller in the axillary you can also plug it into other things to use it obviously like your computer and I guess your phone - like I did in my situation where to get the sound quality for testing yeah it works pretty well lengthy thick cord really unlikely that you're gonna break this I mean even the connection to the Irish will be of the headset is really sturdy and it's nice and long so you shouldn't have any connected like issues we're kind of like you know your drive

your controller and it hurts your head or something like that I don't think you have a problem there and you don't even notice the court it's super light and kind of out of the way it's moving past that we have two cushions this is the kind of movement you get with them so you do like this that's about the range of movement I mean they stretch really far I don't think you're likely to break it on the inside we've got like just a soft sort of that's not like a really a kind of a

cushion not really a mesh and that's just plastic on the sides here and you can open and extend the headset if you'd like to for bigger heads you get pretty good range I'd say just for doing that you shouldn't have an issue fitting them into any heads and the turtle beach's are usually pretty good for a variety of things I don't know how glass supported these the ones are I believe the higher tier ones are more supportive for people that wear glasses but I don't I don't think you

should have too much of an issue with these so again it's like there's a lower quality but they're still very comfy I spent a few hours straight chatting and playing a variety games with people last night on these as like a final sort of thing before I get into reviewing them and yeah there's a good comfort for them on I'm just gonna put them on my head so you can see them kind of an action you actually get a pretty good sound counselling for the distance you can hear little bits

of things but I mean it's actually fairly quiet which is good I didn't have any sort of problem with them you feel like you're on your own the kind of atmosphere and if you're wondering the sound does play from the console through the headset I've seen the mic and you just get both sound feets in here which is fantastic I mean it's kind of what you want out of like a decent headset and getting looking at the cos it's pretty crazy what you get out of especially with the the Atmos support that is quite remarkable when it does come to sound I think it really does

sound excellent for the games I was playing the chief collection I have a five gears called do the usual shooters I play minecraft I was playing Friday 13th which is kind of good for these I will know when you are in a sort of a party chapel Assam what are you listening to people in the game sometimes it's a little bit harder to hear them there's never a situation where I couldn't hear like clearly I hear what somebody was doing but sometimes those game sounds can be

louder and they can cause an issue where you know it's just a little bit harder to hear people and you don't get a lot of balance for that but other than that I mean it's really quite great for what you're getting out of this to look here this is where you can adjust the volume just right on the back it's nice and easy that's really all there is button wives you don't got to charge these or anything like that they just work and plug in which is really nice very easygoing and light very

light which is awesome obviously because you want that so we got the signature kind of turtlebeach Mike from what I understand because you know I put in the sound test but I also ask other people and I'm gonna pray chat with my burger in your head so it's like how does it sound they say it sounds fine we did have some cutting in and out and I don't know if that was maybe connections or anything like that or just not picking up my voice I'm quite monotone so

it not doesn't necessarily always pick up on the mic but they said for the most part it was like pretty crystal clear and good quality no difference in comparison to what I normally use so yeah it comes down like this you talk to it as you can see when it was on my head hello word then you can flip it up and you kind of get that style where it's out of the way and you didn't so you don't have to deal with it if you're trying to talk with other people are deal with other

things I mean for a over the head kind of thing you know like both cushions is what I mean or at the headset I think this is a great model for that I mean obviously it's not super high-end which should be expected due to the kind of price range that this falls in but I was very surprised at the quality of it how good it sounded I wasn't blown away by it when I was listening to music I went on YouTube which is like basically what you can do now on the console for listening to audio stuff and I usually do some team-based kind of things alternative where

you get lots of little tiny sounds so like true birches The Naked and Famous I usually do the level and center to a degree just kind of test music I was a two blown away by the quality for audio in regards to music on there and you know in other places listening a musically computer but for game sounds it's really good to get a good sense of atmosphere in space I was impressed by the quality of it and I mean this is at the end of the day a gaming headset I'm not sure you're

gonna be using this when you're out on the go or something like that that's really not what this is designed for and I think as a functional gaming headset you're actually getting a really good quality here and something that you know you can use and you can kind of abuse and you can maybe give it to somebody that is a little bit younger to use and you won't have an issue where they're you know breaking it or something like that like you get some good flexibility going on I

don't know if you can really see that but the kind of cushions opening up here just kind of the crease going on there and then even this quality if it's like you know it's a plastic and stuff but I really can't see anybody damaging in this and I think this is gonna be a really good sort of like the starter headset for some people just a can idea of what Turtle Beach is about or you know if you want to step up from the crappy ones that come with the consoles or just something

someone that breaks headsets a lot this is a really good option I mean it's comfortable ice out there I didn't have any comfort issues the entire time that I was playing for an extended period of time with these just on without taking them off so that's really good and take an indicator of what a headset can kind of provide you get to throw pitch branding on the top of this obviously and I mean it might actually be a good way to sort of get into the brand at Turtle Beach you're kind of curious you're wondering because I mean it's you know it's not like dirt cheap but for

price wise and the functions you get out of this is actually stellar just you know cuz I've done a lot of headset reviews and stuff I've tried on a lot of headsets and you know they're usually a lot of expensive ones I've tried some really high-end models and stuff like that and like price wise and when you get functionality wise I've never quite seen anything like this quite honestly just in the fact where like the features it gives I mean obviously I can like you can feel the quality

isn't quite as great it's not like an amazing headset but just you know looking cost-wise versus quality versus the Nisha this falls into and there's a bunch of different colors and stuff like that and that's why I think this is a really good headset especially late into the generation of the consoles that we're in right now this is a good way to kind of get into it and try things would be like oh maybe I do like the over the ear a headset kind of style maybe that's something I want to continue in the future and get something a little bit fancier next time around I think this is a

good way to start doing that and it's a good point just to kind of get something nicer going on as I mean even the standard headsets they're not great to wear and everything like that and this will give you that immersion into the game good quality good way to chat with friends easy plug and easy usage it's very simple to understand you should have no issues with it at all I really did enjoy the quality of this headset and the cost of it I'm going to give this a 8.5 out of 10 in my full review in the description below yeah definitely impressed by what they provided here they

could take it further but I just think features cost and everything like that this one does provide a solid kind of standard point and again you get in different colors this will be forward compatible so you can use on the next Xbox Xbox scarlett or so forth past that and I mean other devices too because it's got the 3.5 you taken anywhere and use it for anything you want
