Logitech G610 Orion Red Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard review

PROSSolid build quality with reliable Cherry MX key switches.
Programmable white backlighting.

CONSDoesn't feel quite as bulletproof as some other Cherry MX keyboards.
No USB or audio ports.
No clicky key switch options.

today's review is going to be another review and it's going to be of the Logitech G 610 mechanical keyboard it is the first off you get the g6 chain with cherry MX rates or brown switches the one I have here is the one with the red switches living on inside the box you get a small manual and a warranty info paper unfortunately we don't get a key cap cooler which is disappointing the g6 chain has a standard 140 layout but some nice media keys on the right hand side but starting at the top clip the illuminator G logo through the LED indicators to show you if your caps lock number lock or scroll off is on a gaming button to disable your window speed and then a five-level brightness switch then you get your media keys you get a mute plain poles stop previous skip and then a super smooth volume scroller the scroller is such an awesome feature to have we do get normal volume up and down keys but I just don't have that satisfying reading a stroller and then like I said before this g6 chain has the Cherry MX wrist

which is by removing one of the key caps you can see the red switches with the blinding white LEDs and I'm not kidding these LEDs or seriously bright the rich region is light with a short actuation point because it doesn't have the psychical pump it's very silent but not that great to type on sometimes I don't even realize I press the key because it's so alike but I have to say the rich we just feels very snappy which does make it popular among gamers the braided cable is fixed to the front of the keyboard and it's 1.8 meters or 6 feet long underneath the keyboard you get five big square over and isla pad and to flip out keyboard feet for proper size of them as well the rubber pads do a decent job of preventing the keyboard from sliding around wall game so that's one thing you don't have to worry about okay so then quickly look at the software that you can go download from all six website firstly you have your macro keys that you can assign different bonds to it will tell you wanna media function want to smooth there as I can then just

drag that to f1 and then you can assign different user you also have your profiles appear this side as well to think of games with progress then you can quickly look at the lighting effect again at first you have to piece all things which you can assign different colors to each individual piece so all you do is click on a color you want between white and blacks and just click on the keyboard anywhere to see you want to find on see also the dragon I like everything is going to do that well then yeah go different zones which you can refine as well as you want the logos you can apply that this function keys number keys because keys you can write your own one as well it's like that we go those you can find different keys to that as well a bit which is safe at the mall then you can add some lighting effects which you can go customize you firstly have your fixed brightness you can just change the colors on that you wanna put it like that you want to put on gray or the escape and because there as well then you have your breathing it's

just going to breathe in and out of the color you selected and do it faster or you can do it slower as well and also slide the color there we go do anything right but those days going to rotate a gray color then you have your star effect which is just going to light up random keys on the keyboard also choose the colors you want or instead of yq1 gray or you want great little black which is how many colors ease to light up as well I think it also faster or slower or faster then you have your liking wave just going to wave through the from the middle of the keyboard outwards and also change that to do it vertically or horizontally or vertically if you do it faster or slower as well then loudly you have your key price so this is if you press one of the keys is gonna light up , you can use force lower as well than fade this is going to take longer time to stay out again then you have your windows lofty as well so the key at the top so if you want to lock a certain key on the keyboard you can disconnect it here they say you want one of the arrow keys to go for even all of these if that key will disable all of those keys for you over

again then mostly the kyboot analyst so this is if you want to see which Keys you press the most wall gaming in a gaming station and this say start here and it's just going to record all the keys you trace those stop a stop and then you can just see which means you press a lot and the keys you used to load okay so this keyboard is for somebody who loves the feel of a mechanical switch but not necessary all the fancy buzzer whistles you get with ninety percent of other mechanical keyboards I just wants a comfortable standard keyboard with a white LED to see in a dark basically or one of these people do yourself a favor and go check out this keyboard I get to ask my review of the Logitech G 16 ,logitech is made a push with their own romaji mechanical switches of late I've reviewed them on the g8 10 most recently I'm a fan of the Roma G's however overall the variety and quality of the Cherry MX switches remains unparalleled knowing this logitech's latest mechanical installment includes the industry

standard again non hand have Logitech's new g6 10 featuring Cherry MX brown switches speaking of the g8 10 you can be excused for mistake in the tube they share an identical footprint and the only face-up difference is detectable only once you plug the keyboard in while the g8 10 features full RGB lighting the g6 10 is illuminated with white only LEDs underneath the keys the switches of Cherry MX as mentioned meaning the lights it just above the switch unlike the Roma G's that cleverly include them in the middle of the switch for more consistent lighting across the whole key wedge notably on keys with multiple functions such as the number keys this keyboard has a standard key layout with additional media controls a wide volume wheel as well as windows lock key and lighting brightness toggle there's no additional macro keys and this helps keep the overall footprint of the keyboard quite small there aren't really a lot of mechanical keyboards that you could use in the office without giving away the fact that

you're a gaming nerd but the g6 10 is definitely an exception it's sleek and understated with no flashy colors or crazy shapes the keyboard is black all around with a matte type smudge resistant finish up top and the glossy smooth finish around the sides and back the underside features a grippy diagonal line design 5 large rubber pads to prevent any sliding on the desk and then the flip down legs layer to choose from a flat 4 degrees or an 8 degree pitch which is definitely a nice touch and something that would be simple and inexpensive for other companies to include on the bottom of their keyboards I'm definitely a fan of the look and overall design of g6 Tenergy 810 and the small footprint is great too for gamers on the go performance-wise the g6 10 is great the Cherry MX which has been proven again and again so potential owners need to have no hesitation in this regard my g6 10 feature Terrier max Brown as mentioned you can also get it in Cherry MX Reds my personal favorite of the Cherry MX blue but it was actually quite nice to use a slightly quieter keyboard for a change the good old

logitech gaming software is used to customize the g6 10 but as you might suspect there aren't a ton of options on the keyboard the lighting can be customized and there are some cool presets such as wave breathing and always-on are always off and you can also specify certain keys to stay always on or off to which some gamers like to use to highlight specific sections such as WASD with this software you can record an aside macros to any key then functions can also be assigned to the F keys that run across the top of the keyboard finally you can set up different profiles and there's a game mode that disables key combos that may interrupt you gaming by accident overall the G 6/10 is a straightforward and solid entry from Logitech I thought the G 8/10 was a nice change in terms of its simplicity but the G 6/10 takes that even further with its all-white backlighting and return to Cherry MX keys I would like to see availability and all four of the comment area mexic a top shion's and perhaps if sales start well that's something you will see in the future from Logitech

cheaper than the G 810 so for those that don't care for fancy RGB lighting prefer Cherry MX switches to Logitech seroma jeez it's absolutely perfect and great value personally I'm still hoping for a similarly sleek looking installment the pictures of wrist rest RGB lighting and USB pass-through before I consider outing my daily driver whether it's cherry MX Azure / G's I'm easy both are honestly great to use

a logitech 610 mechanical keyboard this thing is amazing they cans down so the big difference between a regular keyboard a non mechanical keyboard an ax mechanical keyboard is the switches is the tactile feedback of you pressing the key and within that there is a huge kind of variety of styles of mechanical keyboard they go everything from blue brown lack green red clear like there's a huge array of so before you even think about buying mechanical keyboard you kind of have to be familiar with what all of this means and what they actually feel like so I read descriptions but after I've purchased this I noticed that they actually sell these little kits where they have all the switches kind of like a little sample pack and you can actually feel them I'm very lucky because I actually got the one I was looking for but yeah so these are these the Cherry MX red switches and they have a little bit of a more clicky sound but not overly clicky there's a few mechanical keyboards for that like literally sounds like you're breaking your

knuckle every time you press for me that was an enjoyable one of the things that I liked about the Apple one was they're very quiet so this is obviously significantly louder but it's in that middle point of switches so I got pretty lucky with the switches I chose I'm a huge fan of them but if you're not sure which switches you like I highly recommend getting one of the trial packs of five or six keys there okay so let me quickly go over the actual keyboard I purchase so like I said before this is the Logitech G 610 keyboard fully mechanical cherry red switches is a full-size keyboard which is fantastic and one of the biggest things that kind of Drew me to this keyboard over others I'm not sure why but it's this volume kind of wheel here where you can increase decrease the volume you can mute it you have a little bit of a media center there which is one thing that I really like from the Apple keyboard again is that I can actually interact with my computer in specific ways in terms of media and of course no gaming keyboard would not

be complete with some lights if you download the application that kind of interacts with this keyboard you can have a huge variety of light sequences I this keyboard here only has white back lighting I don't like RGB I find that kind of sometimes a little bit kind of distracting but I like the backlighting everything's beautiful you can have a wave you can have a pulse you can have all of these cool little trinkets to kind of make it your own another awesome thing about this keyboard is that you can have a profile for a certain use of this keyboard so you have I believe five or six profiles that you can choose from and depending on what you're doing with the keyboard your shortcuts will be different so for example if I want to play League of Legends fortnight or whatever you can just start hitting these different kind of presets that to kind of customize your keys which is awesome because not all games require the same controlled of course it is a wired cable that is the biggest thing that scared me scared me away from mechanical keyboards in the past is that is this cable but realistically it's one cable on your desk not the end of the world for that you get it Boston keyboard another thing that I

really like about this keyboard is that it's built so well it was very kind of heavy keyboard it's planted on your desk it doesn't slide around when you're in game or typing or anything like that so that's a huge huge plus and plus the keys again I always stress the keys on this keyboard they are fantastic they're the perfect milligram if you're looking obviously get a little sample if you're if you're very serious but I'm a huge fan of the Reds so maybe maybe you will be too so I don't always like to admit if I was wrong but I was wrong mechanical is always better for something I will of course leave a link down in the description for this particular keyboard and the sample keys but if you like this review please hit that like share and subscribe

Logitech G610 Orion Red Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard review

I think I'm on a roll with filming I'll do something quick about this Logitech G is 610 or Orion red now I'm not sure what a Ryan means but the red means that this is a cherry MX red switch keyboard and the you know a lot of thoughts was gone on my on in my head I was like thinking which keyboard should I buy the you know the cherry MX blue Cherry MX brown or the Cherry MX red here and I decided all the all the Roma G switches and you know in my mind I was like thinking okay the logic Logitech has made the Roma G and they're probably going to make that the default standard you know in most of their products from now on in the future and I can only guess that they will improve the Roma G over time somehow and make it you know make it better more superior maybe to to these Cherry MX which is like I'm talking about years ahead maybe they'll probably try to phase out these the Cherry MX switches a friend like I told me and it's worth considering like I didn't really think of it from his

perspective but the Cherry MX switches in itself is like a branding you know it's like a name it made a name for themselves and he he reckons that maybe Logitech will still incorporate Cherry MX switches into their keyboards as opposed to being completely phased out like what I'm thinking in the future sometime or like I think he's right I can't see them phasing it out really but I feel like for the majority of Logitech products that they're probably going to switch over to Roma G and over time I feel like the Roma G's are probably going to be enhanced or whatever this is why I've bought a cherry MX switched keyboard because I want to feel one I want to experience one for you know something like that happens and that was my decision for buying a Cherry MX 1 instill the Roma G because later in the future I know I'm going to get a Roma G but just not now so that narrows the choice down to the Cherry MX blues brown or red now I've seen a lot of videos on YouTube that explains differences between all the switches and you know when I was watching those videos I had some initial thoughts like all right why wouldn't you want to get the blues because they make quickie sounds right and I don't you

know people like a I don't I couldn't put up with a quickie sound or when I'm gaming I don't want to feel this tactile bump now I mean those are all valid reasons reasons and those are the reasons that I had as well but I don't think it it's a good explanation as to why you would want a particular switch over another switch I mean then good reasons but I think I'm going to take it a step further and try and explain why you would actually want to get a switch over another switch and it's very simple this is a cherry MX red and it's when you press done like it there's no tactile bomb fuel and there's no quickie sound and when you the only sound that you guys when you hit it all the way to the bottom I think they call that bottoming out or something like that I always bottomed out all the button I've got a heavy press maybe because I actually feel I've got to fail use the cell membrane keyboards and so when I test this when I press one of these cherry MX red switches down I don't have to press it the first thing I noticed was I didn't have to press it all the way down I only have to press it like 25% of the way down right so

before something happens on the screen and I was sort of like when I was thinking about that I also like well you know that's what the Browns would have been good for you know the Browns would have been like at least I would have felt the bump but people were complaining that you know some gamers might be complaining well I don't want to feel the bump all the time when I'm playing my game but you know it's kinda like why would you want to plot them out all the way when you can just you know lightly tap it in and get some feedback on the screen so in that respect I feel like the most accurate thing to say is if you want to bottom out your buttons then like it if you've got a heavy finger or whatever if you really want to bottom out all the buttons then the Cherry MX red switches are for you that's what my opinion is it's got nothing to do with gaining what most people say they'll say something like Cherry MX Reds are for gaming or something like that it doesn't really make sense to me not not right now anyways because I've just tried it it doesn't really make sense I don't know maybe some people do get really

annoyed generally annoyed at pressing like feeling the bump but the way I see it like if you're going to get feedback on the screen by just lightly pressing the Cherry MX red then you might as well have a bump in my opinion so that's where that's where I would say the Browns come in right you feel the bump now the thing is you have the Blues in comparison to that which is pretty much like the Browns apparently it has some sort of tactile Bob where you can actually feel where you're pressing it down which is about 25% on the way down it makes it quick now the the rationale for people that don't want clicks is like I said before they don't want to hear they don't want to hear these noises right but if you're playing a game and wearing headsets on you're probably not likely going to hear any noise right from from the from clicking and I don't think that's too bad as well I think the fact that you can hear the click when you press something down is extra feedback so you're not just feeling a little tactile bump but you're actually hearing something as well if you're not wearing headphones clarify I don't think that's a bad thing I think that's extra feedback to let you know that you've actually made some sort of you know when you press the bun you've made you've actually press down and made the you

know made some sort of response on the screen so you don't have to press it all the way down and I think that's the biggest difference between all Cherry MX switches and and the reasons why you want to would want to get one so in other words what I'm saying is you know the next keyboard if I had to get Cherry MX again I probably won't but if I do it something tells me I'll probably be trying the Cherry MX blues next I feel like yeah I feel like it would probably be probably be a good thing actually Michael don't quote me on this if this tons of videos out there we can look at the difference between all the switches I mean listen to that right bottom out my bunny right I don't tell me don't tell me that the Browns sound don't tell me the Browns of the time there's only the clicking sound on the blue you sound loud event than that that's too loud right that's really a P key I don't think the Blues would sound any worse than that so I'm definitely fine if I do like a little click click click click I'm not even boiling the bottom bottom of the button it would probably not even sound as loud as me bottom out the damn buttons so anyways like I said you don't have to believe me or whatever I'd have no experience except for

these cherry this term air makes red switch so but there are the videos out there so you can like listen to what they're saying and make a decision an informed decision but I'm just like adding you know a little bit extra that I'm not sharing out down these other videos that try to explain the differences between all the keyboards oh generally talk about this keyboard now when I was unboxing it was very simple it came in with plastic a clear plastic which you could open up like an envelope and pull the keyboard out the keyboard itself what I first noticed was was very heavy and there was nothing else in the box so for some warranty or something like that the keyboard is actually heavy and it has some rather padding which I got the feed and the rubber padding in combination the feed of excellent and the rubber padding it just doesn't slip it's very sturdy it's a very very really well designed keyboard now I had this thought in my brain about how this keyboard would feel in the late in the early 90s as a kid I actually had a mechanical keyboard with my IBM 8286 computer I couldn't even I couldn't even play Doom on that computer I could only play Wolfenstein 3d I was spewing but the keys I noticed on that

mechanical keyboard were raised it I can't explain the feeling of it unless you've experienced it before but the keys are raised and I feel like I'm more prone to making typing errors when I'm doing raised keys I can't really explain that but it's certainly a different feeling from the cell membrane keyboard I feel like the cell membrane keyboards at least the ones from Logitech all the ones from Logitech are flattered I'm spewing about the psychic doesn't have a wrist rest I thought it wasn't going to be an issue in fact I was going to use this keyboard at the stand-up desk and that's what I think these raised buttons are perfect at it's it's perfect if you feel like in a standing position and even though you're doing blah blah blah you know you feel like typing like this that's what this keyboard is good for but for gaming I'm not entirely sure I yea I'm not entirely sure that the buttons are a little bit too raised up I feel for me maybe the distance between them or to a little bit different I'm not 100% sure but that's that's what I feel I'm yeah I'm spewing that there's no wrist pad it really does make a difference but having said that like I said this was meant to be for the stand of this in my my g510 was meant to be for the you know my gaming on my desk when I sit down which I find more like better the media case I I think

some people had been complaining about these media keys about the them being round or something like that look I personally couldn't give it you know I couldn't care any less about these media but and said they look nice in my opinion being round some people have said that it should be square or whatever but what in all honesty I don't know you these people love it and I hope I love seeing them by saying this but like I personally like if these buttons were square which I would rather then not be square I like them round but if they were square I would be like yeah I couldn't I couldn't give a crap like my care would be less than the size of a Higgs boson you know like that's how and that's how much I wouldn't really care about it when you press it like look I like once again like as long as the burners work I don't care about the way that they sound I know people complain about it I think it does like it yeah I look I couldn't really care less like if it does maybe sound a little bit cheaper I really couldn't care any less about these MIDI but they they look right and they feel good not good enough they do the job and they're perfect i I continue with the role 'button of these arm no it's good to the robot is

good I don't really have any complain about so long as I can roll something that's fine I call like the one on the g510 to be honest I like the style of it but then again this whole keyboard is plain black and maybe that's why they have the rubber thing all the way across bone the g510 they've got to silver smooth silver the side plastic sides to it and then they have that rubber in the middle I can Serb and I can't like the way that looks but I guess it wouldn't look good on this keyboard also one last thing this is not a problem at all maybe I might have to get used to it but these these are what the dollar symbol here and all that it's kind of like weird to me I don't know why maybe because I can't really touch type properly I don't really want to learn to touch type in case I need to learn something like you know I could the Dvorak keyboard layout but we actually hoping to do that one day but I you know it's very hard to come by those keyboards and I'm not sure if I wanted that you know really want to invest my time in doing that but I noticed because I always look down at what I'm typing here I look at you know collect this symbol and then I get confused it's the dollar symbol I think it looks like pound I don't know

what it is but yeah they they should know that's not the door so that's the dollar symbols yeah that's the ampersand I think the ampersand is is terrible it doesn't really look like an ampersand and I get really confused same like I know this is really weird but same with these parentheses I get really confused I know I know stupid I really shouldn't get confused but when I look down at the keyboard I do get confused I can't really explain that it like how or why I just do these etchings should be a little bit more clear like I said it's not a big issue I'm sure I'll get used to it but it it's just an odd thought that I like I've had like now that I'm thinking about and look at this arrow this back arrow for example and it's a small one it's like it's not really clearly defined that it is a back arrow if you get what I mean so I mean is this back area but it's complex I don't know no explain it but maybe it's just part of me maybe it's just me and maybe it also could be because like I haven't really found this to be a problem but the because these use Cherry MX switches the the etchings are like a little bit higher than on the Roma G's and

I'm I'm not sure if that's part of the reason why I'm not getting it as well like it could be as lie I'm not sure but I think that's worth noting as well although I guess this is this logo here I'm not a big like I don't really couldn't give a crap about I couldn't give a crap about the loaders but this looks nice I gotta say that actually looks nice and it's one of the reasons why I'm using this keyboard at the desk because it complements the compliments with gee 900 that I have so impose that wasn't my intention I was planning to use because the you know my stand-up desk keyboard one thing I forgot to mention is that the keyboard makes some sort of buzzing noise when you put the light level on a lower level any of the lower levels you can hear a faint buzzing noise I don't know if this is a problem with just my keyboard but it's just something I noticed but when you put it on the absolute the highest one you can't hear the buzzing noise
