and today we're gonna be taking a look at the brand new risin 730 800 X now the 3,800 X I haven't seen much for reviews so I was like you know what let's go ahead and review one we've seen a lot of people doing comparisons between the 3,700 X and the 3900 X and rightfully so we've also seen some thirty six hundred and thirty six hundred extras reviews in the mix there as well but not a lot on the 3800 X now the reason why I think the 3800 X is interesting and I'm 

not saying this is a good or bad way but the 3800 X is very similar obviously to the 3700 X they both are eight core twelve or sixteen thread processors excuse me and then the biggest difference between the two of them is that the 3800 X has a TDP of 105 watts which is quite a bit higher than I believe the 65 watt of the 3700 X it also has a higher boost frequency and base frequency over the 3700 X as well and what makes all this interesting is yes it does The best AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core, 16- Processor review more so are those differences worth it but what it also has in some regards is we've seen so

 far not a lot of amazing overclocking support on the new 3000 series rice and chips now let them do whatever they do just out of the box seems to be kind of the best bet but you can get in there and you can overclock and change them things up but you're not seeing huge gains like you might expect when we saw you know two thousand series or if you are on an Intel platform so maybe going with the 3800 X since it has that higher base and boost frequency over the 3700 X maybe for that is worth it so today we're gonna be taking a look at the 3800 X we will be 

comparing it against a 2600 from the previous generation now the reason I've chosen that processor well it's the processor that I'm upgrading from and I think it's actually a little bit more of a realistic upgrade path a lot of people I don't personally think would have either a 2600 and jump to a 3600 or have a 2700 X from the last gen and jump to a 3700 X it just doesn't seem like that's the that much of a difference for you to jump up now of course IPC is gonna be 

better coming to the new generation and overall it will be a better chip but you would usually expect to jump also maybe some cores and some threads if you had a 2700 X last generation maybe you're looking at 3900 X if you had a 2600 maybe a 37 3,800 X's where you'd be looking to go so you get a few more cores and a few more threads so that's what our comparison will be we can kind of see how things kind of go if this is kind of an upgrade path that you would be 

looking to take and we can look at the performance gains and differences in not only synthetics but also game tests at both 1080p and at 1440p because that is what I game on so we'll be able to run both of those tests now the other thing that I think will be maybe more telling about my tests compared to maybe other reviewers are a lot of other reviewers have really really high-end test benches and that's awesome to see what all these chips can do but if you're more on a realistic level a lot of those other tests from other reviewers are reviewing with 28 et eyes not 

everybody has a 20 atti and honestly if you're pairing up a graphics card - maybe a mid-range Rison obviously this is as mid-range as as closer to the high-end but if you're pairing that with mid-range and a lot of people don't typically do that now we can see what we can get out of our CPUs that way with a high-end card but maybe we test it with a mid-range card which is what I have and we can see realistically what you can expect from your machine's performance so what we will be testing with is a 1070 a gig GTX card so something very mid-range at the 

moment starting to be a little bit older but still mid-range and then we can see what all we can expect with performance gains not only and the performance differences from the 26 to the 3800 X so should be an interesting test kind of interesting to see what all pans out from this and what we can kind of see what happens when you pair certain things together and where limitations come in not only for the CPU between both of them but also Hardware side maybe the graphics card maybe we're running into memory issues who knows we'll run into that and 

we'll discuss it as we go over those tests but for now let's jump in and see just what the test bench itself is right off the bat alright so first thing let's go over the test bench of course we're using the 2600 risin 5 and we're using the new risin 7 3800 X we have an nvidia geforce gtx 1070 we're using to a gig sticks of Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB memory at 3200 megahertz on both platforms we are going to be loading everything from a 512 gigabyte samsung 960 Pro all of our games though are on a samsung 850 Evo the motherboard we're using for this test is the asus 

rog Strix x4 70 i gaming motherboard we just did a simple BIOS update on that so it would be compatible with our Rison 730 800 X and then of course our power supply is an SF 600 corsair 600 watt power supply let's start things off with some synthetic tests we started off with Cinebench is our 20 test the horizon 7 3800 X scored a 48 16 for the multi-core performance tests and the risin 5 2600 scored at 2601 that's a performance difference of 59% so actually quite the difference now of course we have more cores and threads on the rise in 3800 X but 

overall quite the performance gain and then looking at the single core performance we saw a score of 496 on the 3800 X and a score of 384 on the 2600 a performance difference of 25% so another pretty good gain on the single core performance next we jumped into fire strike the horizon 730 800 X came out with a very large physics score over the 2600 because that's based more on the CPU we saw 24,000 148 against the 26 hundred sixteen thousand 575 that's a performance difference of 37 percent graphics cores were actually quite similar and actually 

well the edge went to the 2600 but I'd actually say that that is within the margin of error and then if we take a look at the overall combined scores we had a fifteen thousand nine hundred and eighty for the 3800 X and a fourteen thousand seven hundred for the horizon 5 a percent difference of about eight point three percent jumping into our game tests first off we have rise of the Tomb Raider on very high at 1080p now overall this is one of our weirder test results that we got the rise in 730 800 X only outperformed on average FPS of 1 but if you look at the 1% 

lows and the 0.1% lows overall you can see that we're seeing more consistency on the 3800 X less dropped frames overall in kind of a more consistent playthrough obviously the average overall fps between the two is only about a 1% so not a big difference on rise of the Tomb Raider at 1080p taking a look at the rise of the Tomb Raider at this time at 1440p on very high it's again a very similar story I think the big issue we are all sorting into so we have a 1% gain overall but we're seeing that we're running into a bottleneck limitation most likely on our GPU 

as even the 1% lows in point one percents are a lot closer together so we're running into most likely a GPU constraint at this point since we are less CPU dependent next we're gonna move things on to the division 2 at 1080p on medium settings we have the Rison 7 perform at an average of a hundred and thirteen FPS while the rise in v 2600 performed at an average of 98 again we can see that the 1% lows and the point one percents are also a bit higher on the 3800 XO we have more consistency in our games the average FPS difference overall is about a 14% 

gain so I'd say a pretty solid performance improvement over the previous generation moving on to the division at 1440p again we do see a performance difference at 83 average FPS on the 3,800 X and 74 FPS average on the 2600 another performance difference of about eleven and a half percent so very similar so a little bit less GPU dependent in this game we're still seeing some performance actually moving up to the current generation of rice and it would appear again with the one percent lows a little bit better on the 3,800 X and the point one percent lows 

actually the same so it might be the game a little bit and some more GPU limitations are very very consistent at least with those point one percent lows but overall another you know decent gain for the 3800 X next we're gonna be moving on to pub G at 1080p on low but with ultra post-processing so amusing the the specific settings I use for in game which is mostly low on things textures at medium and post-processing on ultra which is what you want as we could see at 1080p we had 177 average FPS on the 1300 X and an average of 163 FPS on the Rison v 2600 now the big telling difference here is that we can see that the 1% lows are a bit higher for the 

3800 X as well as those point one percent lows we have very low score on the 2600 at 47 so overall a lot more consistency and as I've been playing this game more and more on my 3100 X I will say the average FPS overall feels way higher with a lot smoother of a frame rate overall between these two averages we see a 8% difference in performance so an 8% gain on a 3,800 X but if you look and you compare those 1% and those 0.1% quite quite a good jump for a consistency unless dropped frames overall a similar stories happening at 4 pub G at 1440p we have a very similar average FPS between the two of them only one fps apart but we have our 

1% lows and our 0.1% obviously a little bit higher on the 3,800 X making a little bit smoother performance gameplay as as this you know as you play the title I'll say overall it feels much smoother and it seems to be at a higher FPS I don't know if this test doesn't show more of that obviously we are again running into a little bit more of a GPU limitation at a higher resolution since we're seeing a very similar FPS result number but you know only a quote-unquote 1% performance difference on the average but we're seeing quite a larger margin on those 1% and those point one percent lows and finally we're gonna take a look at dirt rally at 1080p with a 

MSAA settings at times to the risin 730 800 X averaged 169 while the 2600 averaged 139 fps now again we are seeing this 1% in those point one percents having quite a difference so your overall gameplay experience smoother less framerate drops as low so you're gonna have a better at gaming experience that's also a performance difference of about 19 and a half percent between the 2600 and the 3,800 X so another respectable gain overall on the CPU at 1080p and then looking at dirt rally at 1440p we can see another similar story that has kind of been going

 on the whole time we're running into a GPU limitation and not so much a CPU limitation it would seem so 125 average FPS on the 3800 X and only one less on the 2600 but we do have those 1% lows and those point one percents a little bit higher which is going to add kind of just add up to be a better gaming experience overall so what's the takeaway from all of this information well one of the big takeaways for me is that my GPU at 1440p is mostly the bottleneck but I am gaining more consistency with a 3,800 X with those one percent and point 

one percent lows not being as apparent as they were on the 2600 so that's a nice gain for me now obviously at 1080p we could see there is a little bit of an FPS gain on those games which is really nice if you are playing at 1080p and then of course synthetic tests for the 3,800 X are very very good we can see a really large difference between a twenty six hundred and thirty 100x in Cinebench and especially in a fire strike when you're looking at that physics core so a really big gain no obviously yes the 3,800 X it has a higher boost clock and a higher base clock and it has 

more cores and threads but the difference gained for just those things was really big so that's been always a strong suit for Rison is that multi-core performance that's gonna help me when I am rendering videos it's gonna export them quicker so far just a little bit I've done I didn't do any tests in this video but so far what I've seen lot faster renders we're gonna have much better streaming experiences with more cores and more threads and the big thing on the streaming side is for me I'm not expecting to see as many FPS drops on my side when I'm playing games 

with a little bit more consistency in our gaming from what we can see at that 1440p so overall that'll help me out while I am streaming slightly more demanding games so I'm really excited about that now of course depending on what CPU you have right now and depending on which direction you maybe want to go with your upgrade the 3000 series may or may not make sense if you're coming from a 2700 X and you don't really feel like jumping to a 3900 X I don't really think of 3700 extra 3,800 X is gonna be an enormous difference for you you're gonna have the same cores and threads but you're gonna get better you know IPC single core performance on 

your new 33,000 series processors but is that gonna be a big enough performance difference for the cost you know it kind of depends on you and you know realistically I like to think that this is more of a realistic upgrade path for someone going from a 2600 to a 3,800 X where maybe a 3700 X and of course the 3900 X but I don't expect anyone to kind of jump the exact same processor just get the newer version says there's no big core and thread difference on those you usually want to jump up a step to actually see a really big performance boost not only on 

potentially on the game side of things but also then also other tasks that might use more cores and more threads of course Intel still is a very compelling offering if you are still going to be playing just games but if you want to stream you want to do some content creation seems like the Rison series is now kind of a pretty smart place to be so I'm excited about it in my rig and then of course you know overall support you know you get the cooler that is comes in the box with the rising you don't really get that with those K series processors from Intel boards seem 

to be a little bit more expensive you can pair it as I have in this video with a x4 70 motherboard so if you have an existing motherboard or do you want to pick up one that's going maybe on sales getting a little bit cheaper now that the x5 70 motherboards around you can save some money there too as well so Rison might be even more appealing in that regard as well so interested to know what processor you're currently running and if you are thinking about jumping to a 3000 series Rison processor which one you would go for and if you think there's a 

big difference maybe between the 3700 X and the 3800 X of course the scores i've seen on 3700 X so far puts it a little bit behind the 3,800 X but they have the same cores and threads so the performance differences aren't enormous and I wouldn't expect them to be because they're playing with some very similar base stats of course higher boost clock and higher base clock and then of course that TDP now maybe that will come into play later with rise in precision overclocking and the rise in master software maybe it can get a little bit more out of that 

sending a little bit more power through the actual processor that's more stuff what we could test in the future or that we'll see other people test potentially too but so far the 3800 X seems to be a solid player in the lineup does cost a little bit more than the 3700 X but they all have their places like I said let me know what processor you have .

the rides in 7:30 800 X CPU into the a or s X by 70 ultra motherboard I'm gonna do the installation we'll have a quick look at what's inside the box it does come with a wraith prism cooler so we got the 3700 x cuz anything goes a little bit better value and you get to almost the same clock speeds as this but I couldn't find it I got this one I think it'll work out just fine so let's get into the box let's install it show you what it can do ok so let's quickly get it under the 

box you go in here yeah they always tuck the CPU itself in his eye alright he just comes in a box like that and there you can see what it is alright set that down here so of course right here comes in this little box letter helping it up you know tend to just because I know what this is like I'm just gonna flip it take the box off now it comes free applied with their own pace so you don't need your own but if you want to choose to use your own well you're certainly free to do that comes with the RGB cable and USB I found previous experience when I did the r7 2700 X 

you do not need the RGB but you do need the USB and then that'll want everything independently using the AMD brief software which I'll show you later so let's have a quick look ok let's get the plastic off here here's a look at the core itself and the thing that causes some grief is making sure this handle here ok it can be up here and it can get snagged when you go to put it on all right we'll just move that cable all the way and so you want to make sure that you just go up here make sure it goes all the way down because if you don't get it all the way down and what's gonna happen is this not gonna clip on in the bottom all right so that's gonna go on 

there you can see your heat pipes okay and so first thing I'm gonna do is take off all my cables get them all out of here and then we'll go and proceed with the install so of course the other thing you got is your four pin for your CPU fan plug into your CPU uh on your motherboard okay and of course like I said you got your two cables so this is pretty much everything again of course the beauty of that being the most important part okay there we go there's a look at the beast I got a little motherboard over here shrinko little pretty impressive actually you want to 

see the review on that you can look back to one of my previous videos a couple on black and I did a review on that so let's go ahead and install this so one more thing before we go and install it is one of the factors that I want to point out on this CPU is the fact that it's a third gen processor and it's PCIe 4.0 ready alright so of course that's why I'm here pairing it up with a motherboard newly come out as well for the third gen processors that has the PCIe 4.0 leans on it alright partner distinction between some of the earlier runs your b4 50s which are still gonna have your pcie 3.0 okay so the first thing you want to identify is your little triangle okay it's 

very small but it's right in that corner there okay so be careful when you take this out don't grab it don't touch it on here but then you want to focus on here and you can see the triangle right there okay you want to make sure that when you put your CPU in here that you line up the triangle on the CPU itself with the socket which is an important okay so first up I would recommend push that out lift up your arm now it's ready to put the CPU inside okay next step make sure you just gently do this grab it by the edges thank you don't want to actually touch anything other than the edges of the CPU okay so we know our triangles here we know what 

triangles there and you're just gonna set it in place okay so it just goes in there sometimes you have to use B we go around a little bit just make sure he goes in there once it's in here just push this handle back down a little bit of for us don't worry and make sure you go below this little tab here right and that's it your CPU is installed now of course comes the cooler now the thing with a cooler just to keep in mind these two brackets have these two little nubs one on this side one on this side one points this way you have one points that way okay when you put your CPU on okay make sure you're lining it up okay so make sure you try and get that little lip in there 

okay once you bring that across okay so positive for a second just because it was a little bit tricky so just move this my problem again was making sure this was all the way down it was up just a little bit and then it clicks in place then what you're sure you want the other one on place which it is you got this handle okay going this way doesn't do anything okay so when you first put the clip on this is gonna go down it's gonna be facing this way so whatever found is I had to kind of put a little bit of pressure on here push it down a bit and it is pretty snug it's gonna take a bit of pressure flip it over don't be afraid like I break anything break make sure that it's on 

this side with these little lines here these lines are on so if it's on the right hand side it's in there it's secured you don't have to worry about it okay if it's on this side it'll still move around everything that's going to be good on the board but it's not properly secured okay you need to have it facing this direction right hope that helps somebody so the awning left now of course connect this to your CPU fan so on our motherboards you got a CPU fan CPU optional okay so we're just gonna take it make sure that little divot here lines up with this okay so you want to have it on like so okay line it up here so this is a four pin this is for pen line it up with that little 

debit okay and just push down that's it that's all there is to it that's gonna nicely Tucker out of the way and will tell you that up after when I actually go to do a build and that's on so you know anything left at this point of course is firing up the motherboard see it looks like that kind of good stuff um but there's one more important factor so height oriented this cuz you have a low and a high for your fan so you put it at high it's gonna be a little bit noisier but higher performance put it at low quieter fan maybe not his good cooling so that / - hi now you got two little tabs here so the way you can tell if you've gone the right spot there's two little lines here 

and just line it up for the HR lining up with the all whatever your preferences and you're good to go you got two little tabs here okay so you can just take those off okay one of course is for your CPU for your RGB and the other one is for the USB so you can leave one of them in you can take them out I tend to just take both of them out and leave it at that take your cable that you got take your little small one a small in here it's only a three pen so that's how you know there's only a three pin there line them up will only go in one way push it in and then this is gonna connect to your usb on your motherboard and you're ready to test everything up okay so once you've got your cable in here you got your USB find a USB slot on our motherboard it's 

right here your USB 1 USB 2 okay so make sure you line it up there's one little spot on here that does not have like it's it's full you can't push anything into it so you're gonna line it up with the one that has an empty spot on here doesn't matter which one you use okay line it up push it down and that's all there is to it so we'll power this on we'll have a look at it of course it's not in a case yet because that's coming in an X build and look you do not need to use the RGB people have used it and obviously it's there to be used but if you plug it in I found that you can't independently control systems differently like I want to have the RGB and dependent of the fan 

because on your CPU cooler I'm going to show you something here okay so on your CPU fan itself okay this AMD lights up the ring around here lights up and your fan lights up you can determine a different color free so those three things and have that independent of what your motherboard is going to be as well so that's why I like to do that separately and of course you have to download the software I'll show you that and the bull test it up and see what the colors doesn't everything look like okay but before we do that we're have to go in and type in the 

AMD I just like to name the prison software came up and brought me to this page so we just have to download that software because it's gonna allow us to independently control everything with the software okay so you can see you got your different colors okay so your AMD is lit up it's blue I don't know if their camera is picking it up or you know you got your rainbow color now the standard color when it comes on before you meet any adjustments with software uses a rainbow color and then it will start cycling through so the fan itself will cycle through its 

different colors seem as thick the otai grain and this will continue to change too that's why you need the software so you can make the changes make it look better and all that kind of good stuff so something else to notice is it is on high performance so it is a little bit louder so if you don't like that any feel you find that too loud then put it on low and you should be good and you could also adjust fan speed on it kind of good stop your BIOS and your settings for your 
software that come with your motherboard all that kind of good stuff for anybody so putting it on was pretty simple it was pretty straightforward.
