what's up everyone so graphics cards generally a hit or miss ironically they have one of the worst price performance ratios second only to enthusiast grade GPUs such as the Timex or the Titan XP and now that's for a number of reasons there are usually better

graphics cards that jump it's here or two tiers and performance for only a little bit more they generally skimp out on a few things such as VRAM and they're generally pretty underpowered for the price here with me today is the GT 1030 in review sub video card that's marketed for ultra budget enthusiasts and rivals Andes rx 550 that was released a couple weeks earlier for it looks like a compelling purchase on the surface but does it fit the model of the

stereotypical ultra budget video card the first thing I notice about the video card is its size this video card is small I mean it would fit in the palm of a slightly above-average sized hand and I understand why it's a low profile card that does not need much cooling MSI launched a passively cooled version along with five other versions which why they did that is way beyond me but I digress but even compared to the 750 Ti low profile that I use in my odds box it's

pretty small specifications wise the GT 1030 has a 1468 boost clock a 3,000 megahertz memory clock and 2 gigabytes of vram it does not support SLI nor g-sync but it does support GP Boost bokken and DirectX 12 it's also rated at only 30 watts of power before I dive into my thoughts on how this video card fits into the market I want to go straight into the benchmarks the test

Spencer used was an RFI 1400 at 3.9 gigahertz with 16 gigabytes of ddr4 memory clocked at 29 33 and Windows 10 64 bit I tested mostly esport and lighter titles because based on the price of them I'd imagine most people would not purchase this video card for anything more than that but to spice things up I threw battlefield 1 and GTA 5 into the mix the final benchmark list

including PC games is overwatch smite csgo GTA 5 and battlefield 1 here they are, you so I was pleasantly surprised with the GG ten thirties performance overall now I kind of assumed that it would do well in eSport titles but I was not expecting it to do as well as it did in triple-a titles such as GTA 5 and battlefield 1 there is one issue with this card well there are several issues with this card but one big one is the vram to gigabytes of vram limits graphic fidelity a prime

example includes not having the ability to improve GTA's texture detail past the normal setting because it utilizes more than two gigabytes of vram it's not a huge deal simply because the ten-thirty does not have enough power to truly drive gta5 with high textures but DRM limitations might be an issue with future games now I know somebody said this before me I can't really

remember who but it's pretty much the idea that not a lot of games use up to four gigabytes of vram but a lot of games use more than two gigabytes of vram so you can see that the vram is probably going to be a limitation later on so while the 1030 lacks raw power compared to slightly more expensive video cards it shines in efficiency the maximum temperature recorded while benchmarking with 62 degrees Celsius and that was when the fans were spinning at 50%

and just in case you didn't notice the fan on that video card is pretty tiny so it's not the best cooler in the world but obviously enough for this card noise was not an issue at all if you're gaming it will be almost inaudible power consumption was also great with an overclocked 1400 and overclocked memory the system guru 55.4 watts of power at its peak right after logging

into Windows during the GTA 5 benchmark the system peaked at 138 watts the entire computer utilizes under 200 watts and most of that power is due to the processor and memory overclocking lives as straightforward as always using the msi afterburner the power limit cannot go past 100 percent so I left it is and started with an easy 100 megahertz core offset and the 50 megahertz memory offset after playing around the settings I finished with a 200

megahertz core offset and a 275 memory offset anything past 300 on the memory was not given a noticeable performance boost and I started losing FPS around a 275 core offset coupled with a gta5 crash using a 225 core offset so I only read benchmark battlefield 1 and GTA 5 because those are the two games that did not get close to averaging around 60 FPS so here's a short benchmark reel of those two games , so final thoughts I'm pretty satisfied with this video

card and I must say that its efficiency definitely shows and proves to be strongest point now I'd imagine that this video card will be used mostly in htpc builds or ultra tight budget builds where you only want to spend new parts other than that I'm not really sure where I see this video card fitting in for the market now do I recommend this video card now I like this video card I really do but it's only good for very niche scenarios like I pointed out earlier so I

definitely recommend spending an extra 10 to 15 dollars for an RX 460 even if it is only the 2 gigabyte version because you'll see a definite improvement in performance now I don't see the GP 1030 being relevant for very long the only real reason why I think anyone would buy it is if they meet three requirements they primarily play eSports they definitely need to take advantage of the lower power draw and they can only spend  maximum on any video card

and even then you can still get a 750ti use so I'm not really sure how this fits now I will make a large comparison video comparing the GT 1030 to the rx 550 the rx 560 the gtx 750ti the gtx 1050 and maybe the gtx 750ti but that seems like it's been a difference here than all of the rest .

Gigabyte GeForce GT 1030 GV-N1030D5 Computer Graphics Card review

I'm gonna be re reviewing it and seeing if it holds up today against modern games or at least kind of modern games I'm gonna be testing for tonight you know some of the some of the newer titles and I'm gonna be analyzing it for you but before I get into that I'd like you to close your eyes and I'd like you to turn back time we're gonna do a little mental exercise so close those eyes just get into the zone and just go back to 2017 and I'd hate to bum you out but I want you

to think about the shittiest things of 2017 the shittiest memes the shittiest parts of the Internet I want you to think about the people screaming you know rubbing around on the McDonald's floor I'd like you to think about the people who are creating those strange tour reviews for kids they were humping each other I I don't know what they were doing they were definitely diddling kids I'll tell you that calf FA that was a shitty one I'd like you to think about calf FA

you know we have the news people making the stories about calf FA oh I don't know what he meant Jim Oh was he intoxicated when he made the tweets oh I don't know there are a lot of shitty memes in 2017 and unlike any other year I noticed you know on Twitter Instagram Facebook people were just complaining about 2017 when that year came to an end there were definitely a lot of shitty things about 2017 there were you know one or two good things though

think about it roll safe I guess that's pretty much it but the question is maybe this will be the second good thing of 2017 the GT 1030 has it held up today better than all those shitty memes did we shall find out I'm gonna benchmark it I'm gonna analyze the results and I'm gonna get back to you and make a conclusion is the GT 1030 still a viable video card let's see, all dick jokes aside the GT 1030 is a teeny teeny weeny graphics card launched about a year ago

May 17 27 teen by Nvidia it is the lowest tier ten series GPU available with only 384 cuda cores a boost clock of 1440 eight megahertz and two gigabytes of gddr5 and word on the street is that Nvidia just launched a new version of the 1030 that has ddr4 instead of DDR 5 but I'm skeptical even I'm not willing to stoop that low honestly  is where I draw the line I'm not spending any less than that but needless to say this is the DDR 5 version so this is actually the

MSI flavor I'm reviewing it comes with a single dinky little fan no external power connectors a DisplayPort and an HDMI port HDMI 2.0 B to be precise so you can do 60 Hertz 4k gaming it will probably not but movies at least you can just you can display 4k at 60 Hertz ok buddy but at the end of the day it still only has to display ports it's just really stripped down to the bones

but what do you expect for  at least it's easy to install there is one saving grace here ,there you have it slash 687 the fastest hands in the West I guarantee you all these stumps are genuine I do all my own stunts speaking of slash 687 though I'm thinking of changing my channel name to something with you know a few less numbers most likely to tip top tech since tip top is my name in csgo and who doesn't love alliteration so let me know what you guys think

about that in the comments section I think it's about time for a change but I want to hear from you beautiful people first but anyway that's your synopsis of the GT 10:30 specs I know very exciting stuff but it is almost benchmark time baby the moment the GT 1030 launched it was low tier not even low tier lower than low tier lo lo lo lo lo lo lo lo al bottom jeans boots with the fur there's no disputing that but unlike its predecessors I'm talking the GT 736 ten all those

low-end cards it was actually powerful enough to play some surprisingly demanding games at 1080p  for 1080p gaming is hard to beat but it's not 2017 anymore thank God it's 2018 and it's time to see how this GPU fared against father time here you go ladies and germs V benchmarks , so there you have it guys in conclusion size does not matter so there you have it guys I'm sorry just straight away cuz I know some of you are probably a little bit

questioning of my actions here all I could do we're 720p benchmarks I couldn't do the 1080p none of my monitors support DisplayPort or HDMI and I had a little DVI to HDMI converter but for whatever reason that didn't work so if you want to know how these games would run at 1080p just take the FPS and slice it in half 1080p has twice as many pixels it's pretty much a linear curved as far as the FPS goes so you wonder how it'll do in 1080p just slice them in half

and that should be pretty accurate but aside from that this card ran beautifully no problems at all no heating issues or anything obviously the things tiny the little fan did the job all the benchmarks for great around 60fps at 720p around medium-high settings in some case low settings like for Witcher 3 that was a pain to run it's still a solid card still a very usable card definitely not high-end but it still gets the job done for you budget gamers out there now other

more cost-effective options like buying a you'l 750ti or something like that yeah of course that's gonna perform much better actually you'll get maybe 20-30 percent increase in FPS with a 750 Ti over the 1030 but if you're on a very strict budget this thing is only  who knows what the ddr4 version is gonna be maybe ah this will get you gaming and you can buy these used on eBay for even cheaper use one of these for most people it's not

practical there's no getting around that but for people on extremely restricted budget this card still plays modern games it's still gonna get the job done you just got to turn down the settings a good bit maybe lower the resolution and you'll be a-ok pretty crazy than nvidias lower tier GPUs or actually usable nowadays I remember the days back with a 6-10 the seven-thirty they did not play games at all that was pretty much just an adapter that you threw in because you

wanted some video output plus if you're just somebody looking to get started in PC gaming you could just pick one of these up throw it into a PC we all know that concept could throw this in any Dell PC your family's PC it's gonna work fine and you're gonna get a taste of what PC gaming is really like without having to spend all the money on those overpriced GPUs we have in the market right now even though that is that's getting better GPUs are getting a little bit
cheaper so who knows maybe in a few years after you buy this you can upgrade so that's about it guys .
