hi- again with another tech review and today we're looking at this the our III RK 104 gaming keyboard now right from the very top let's be very clear this is a super cheap gaming keyboard and whose gaming let's do the air quotes gaming keyboard at 14 pounds and 99 PS you took the three in about seventy seventeen to twenty dollars that's what we're talking about so at that kind of price is it any good does it give you a good gaming experience by the looks of things it's got all the fancy RGB lights it's got a slightly enhanced makes of gaming keys here that you can talk between there and here and the reason I bought this is because I don't always use a gaming keyboard in fact I never use a gaming keyboard let's be honest I use controller and I mostly play on console so why did you buy it uh he cry well my son also likes to play on the console but occasionally he plays on the PC and occasionally he likes to use a keyboard so I thought I would

just rather than go out and get the top-of-the-range gaming keyboard for something that's going to be used now and then I want to get something that gave that gaming keyboard experience but at a price that was going to break the bank I've read some good reviews of this so I thought I'd give it a good go so let's be very clear it's not a mechanical keyboard it's still a membrane based keyboard and I'm gonna be trying it on my gaming PC and we'll be trying it on the Xbox as well because that's probably where it's going to get its most use when I set up the Xbox gaming station in my son's room I'm gonna make the keyboard available there so that you can decide on those games that have keyboard compatibility whether he wants to use the keyboard or use his controller so without further ado remember as I say let's take a dig deeper dive but remember through this whole review this only cost me $$ so just bear that in we'll see if it's any good okay so let's do the unboxing this is the RK 104 3 and I've gone for the 88

key keyboard so it has no number pad since I really need a number pad and also because it's on my son and he's got a small desk in his room that I'm setting up the gaming station on I thought it would fit quite nicely so the gaming pad of the number pad so the number pad I thought would be redundant this is the UK version so the pad fairly normally manual particle a manual it's piece of paper Wow that's the manual very simple on the back it's just basically telling you about the function key so their multimedia function keys will play music put the sound up mute the sound pause play get your emails or etc etc oh very bog-standard as they say it feels quite and it looks it's quite plasticy no surprises there really as I say this is the UK version the keyboard there's the pound sign there which means that I wonder where they put the hash key oh yeah hash keys over there often you find that the hash key is there on some non UK keyboard so this is the UK version of the keyboard so let's just first of all let's plug it into the

PC right straight away you can see there it will lit up you got the sort of brightness here switch the lights on on off we can go through we press the function and then the page up page down okay that's the brightness I think yeah turn the brightness of them if I just switch the lights off quickly the camera lights off you'll see let's have a look see we get better right there we are so if we do the function page up that takes it down page up takes the brightness up and then there are some other modes as well it's meant to be compatible with the windows 7 or above so Windows 7 Windows Vista Windows XP they say it's good for Google Android I don't connect it with a big fat USB there works with Smart TVs apparently the Mac the Raspberry Pi and also the Chromebook so I've got a Chromebooks that will test it on that as well what I'm really interested in seeing is whether it works on the old Xbox but as you see the keys are quite chunky on the side there which is what you kind of want in a gaming keyboard it doesn't have a big clickety click sound to it it's not too bad it seems very responsive though looking at the

screen if you look here it's got we've got the the main gaming keys here and you've also gotten them here as well you'll see the wsad and you can apparently you can swap between the two there accordingly so we'll have to investigate how that works in more detail but generally it feels all right as they say seems pretty responsive and as I say a basic if you want that gaming setup look overall it doesn't seem bad you can't do anything fancy with the lights other than really kind of have them in a couple of modes but that's fine as I say at the price a few more pounds and I might do another review on a different keyboard which you can get they do a mechanical that one as well with slightly more various options on the the lighting but so far as I say it looks alright keys are nice and bright I thought these keys here on some pictures I've seen the WS a and D a slightly bolder I think they're they're slightly placed off they're not in line with these letters because of the arrows but but it makes it quite clear that they're the main

gaming Keys and as I say you can also use these keyboard the WASD function on these keys here as well first function oh yeah it calls up music that's that works quite well and then the function on the volume play home that calls up the old Google homepage that's all fine and then function f12 calls of a calculator so that if you're interested so it doubles as a work computer if you just want maybe a bit more of a funky work computer then that works as well but the main test is to say is in playing so why don't I also do a quick test and see if it functions if I plug it into a Chromebook so I'm going to get the Chromebook so here's my Chromebook plug it into the Chromebook okay lights up okay so again the functionality the keyboard switch lights on switch the lights off brings let's put my main line back on so we can see if it more clearly but you've got the impression with the lights there yeah those keys all seem to work fine yes it

functions on the Chromebook so that's not a problem as well that's quite good so now let's just try to see whether it functions on the old xbox okay so I plugged it into the Xbox here and you can see you can go through the various things all the functionality the keyboard is the same switch lights off but the real test is going to be in the actual gaming so what I'm going to do is going to get my son to give it a test because he's really classy about his gaming peripherals and also he's the only one that can really game on the keyboard I'm getting to give it a test and see what he thinks of it but as I say it certainly connects with the Xbox and seems to work fine in that regard but let's have a look at what it's like to gain with you gonna make a comment oh did you like 30 health what did you think of the gaming keyboard thing the best when you play me so far is it better than playing with say a normal keyboard yeah yeah what do you like about it is the keys so good addition to for say if you want to kick if you're a casual keyboard player

and you maybe want to plug into the Xbox you don't recommend it yep okay sweet so there you go the ri-ight RK 104 super cheap gaming keyboard feels a bit like a gaming keyboard looks a bit like a gaming keyboard and for all intensive purposes acts like a gaming keyboard and does the job so if you're just looking to kind of add that gaming keyboard look to you setup and you may be you know not a hardcore keyboard gamer PC PC gamer then this could be it or is this sort of secondary backup keyboard for the front of money as the same it's well worth it it does feel quite light and you know in plastic key but it lights up quite well there's interesting note there's no little sort of foot rests at the back so you can't sort of tilt it it stays flat key light apparently 5 million clicks that I should do me and as I say the toggle between the WASD and these keys here is just the function and the W W and you can change tone between the - when you're gaming if that's what you want to do but there you go for the money you can't really

complain because it's very functional does a job and overall gives that appearance of a gaming keyboard and even to a certain degree the sound if you're one who likes their kickety-kick sound or the keyboard it's got a bit of that and as my son said earlier it seems to play fine especially on the Xbox if that's what you're looking to do and also my daughter was playing minecraft earlier and she used the bit keyboard on the PC and again she found it very straightforward nice and responsive does the job and as I say it's better than my basic day-to-day work keyboards that I have a Bluetooth keyboard here so it's swap between different sources very quickly but for gaming it's perhaps not so brilliant but this one certainly does the job check out the link below to the amazon link where i've got this one for if you're interested I might do they do do another keyboard read for a few pounds more or maybe another $5 and

Rii Primer RGB Compact Gaming Office Keyboard RK104,Backlight Keyboard review

and it says it's actually a mechanical keyboard I might have a look at that one as well but for now bear in mind this review is a review of a 14-pound 99 keyboard so you're getting a keyboard for less than $20 a gaming keyboard effectively all being not a true mechanical gaming keyboard but one with the same sort of RGB lights etc less than $20 not bad check it out and he certainly does the job as far as my needs are concerned in terms of sort of casual keyboard gaming now and then if you liked this review then please comment below  for me to check out any other reviews if you have any questions about this keyboard then by all means put the comments below and I'll see if I can't answer them for you and until the next review goodbye
