hey what's going on guys this is your Boise wheel back to you with another review men on super insider today why because we are reviewing the del s two-for-one 7bg man this is 165 Hertz monitor 1440p and it's only 24 inches yes perfect gaming monitor perfect screen size I had the footage for the Ellen where 240 Hertz freesync monitor and I don't know what happened to it so I lost the footage I was gonna do a comparison between that one and the new one that I have here but I will go into detail on why I took the 240 Hertz monitor back and got

this one so garage snack scratch something to drink and let's get into this review this is the box that it comes in here it's not a big box not gonna do an unboxing today we're just gonna do just a full review because we definitely want to just get into some of these specs and the actual performance of the monitor it's not sure blitzing Glen when it comes to what it looks like stuff like that but I'm not it today I'm a gamer I like to see good stuff in also this is the second monitor for me so it really doesn't matter what the month it looks like but it does look fairly

well so let's get this box out the way alright guys so here you have it man look at the bezels that's gonna rehearse very thin bezels that comes around this and man like I said this is not one of your best looking when it comes to like gaming monitors but it definitely looks good again this is my second monitor and this used specifically for gaming and just going over some of the specs here definitely it's a 2560 by 1440 panel 165 Hertz it's a native 144 Hertz monitor but it

over clocks 165 Hertz it's an 8-bit panel it has a 1 millisecond response time it definitely has built-in speakers but you know this does have a USB 3.0 it has one upstream USB 3.0 coming from your computer and then it has a total 4 USB 3.0 ports and this is actually a team monitor you have three different type of panels that's out there right now so you have what are the most popular so you have the IPS panel you have the TN penalty of a VA panel so with the TN penalty in stands for twisted and medic thing about TN panels is a dash or response time

response time on here is one millisecond so you definitely get something a faster response time but what makes this particular moments are different from some of the other monsters that I looked at but I've done research on is that this panel with there being 24 inches this is 24 inch panel but with it being 24 inches it's a 1440p panel so what that means is that the actual pixels per inch on this panel is 123 now the dáil monitor that I had the Alienware 240 Hertz monitor

that I had that I lost the video footage on sucks the model on that Dell monitor that I had was aw two five one eight HF and that particular one says you could do some research or you may see some stuff pop up on the screen but that particular monitor it was a 1080p panel but the pixel density was only 89 pixels per inch so that's really one of the biggest well it's two reasons and I just mentioned them that I got rid of the Alienware 240 Hertz monitor and to it and 40 Hertz is extreme gaming it's like buttery smooth is good but it caps out at 1080p I mean I'm the

type of person that I actually want to see the graphics I want to be able to see the detail and stuff like that in some of these newer games especially with the rth scar that I have EVGA r-tx 2080 I want to be able to take advantage of some higher resolutions that's why I've got 40 1440p monitor and this one's also comes with built-in g-sync so that's just a plus and if you haven't played with g-sync I know there and I know it immediately just release you know the drivers where you could be able to use some free sync monitors with no issue but you need to try out

juicing and along with having a high refresh rate monitor and man having this thing over clocks 165 Hertz and also being able to have the G sync on and playing it's amazing so we're getting into some game at the end of the video so stay tuned for that but with g-sync 1440p panel in the pixel density that's why I went with this monitor over the 200 Hertz Dell Illinois months and now that doesn't mean that was just my personal opinion you have some people who do competitive gameplay so 240 Hertz monitor will be great for them they're not really

worried about the resolution and the pixels per inch and stuff like that that's just me my opinion but if that's the route that you want to go then definitely go for the elements it's a great monitor Minh have any issues with it I had the free sync version it still worked great but I actually prefer this monitor for myself and for my knees so let's get into some other stuff all right so now that we got some of the specs out of the way let's take a look at some of the features on the monitor so one thing I want to show you here you have your just up and down and it has actually it has a spring that's in the back so it definitely gives you some options in that

depending on where you want to sit and how you're gonna use the month in how high or how low your chair sits up and down with the TN panels the actual viewing angles on do get distorted depending on how you're looking at it so you can't be too far to the left can't be too far to the right and you can't you know be looking down or looking up at the pen you need to look at straight on and for me since this is my second monitor I'm only using this for gaming I'm not using this for video editing although I do actually use it as a second floor look at that

some review and stuff like but I'm not using as my main months if I want to get accurate color see and speaking of colors the actual codes on this one so there's actually pretty good for a TN panel but if you want the best representation of colors and things that n that you get your IPS panel the ASA 32 inch monitor that I have is the IPS panel and it is great for you know the video editor and pictures of stuff like that so I used that if I want to do that but this is for gaming so depending on where you want to have your monitor how do you want to have angled

tilted make sure that you are looking at the monster straight on to be able to get the best colors then to be able to get the best picture quality and also one of the things I had to mention and we're looking to this is that um I did have to calibrate this to my liking my research and you know I saw some people did some custom things and get the colors just right so right now I have the colors exactly how I want it it looks good brightness is there and all that good stuff so we actually go into that arm as well just so you can see I have it calibrated but right out of the

box you definitely need to make sure that you make some changes to it because it does not look good at all so you have the you can adjust this up down that's the highest that it goes you can also tilt so this tilts all the way out heart here and it also tilts down and it swivels so you can swivel this to the left you can swivel it to the right so you know depending on how your setup is you could definitely be able to use this monitor pretty much however you need to use it no matter what the situation is alright so let's take a look at some of the ports alright so as you can

see here you have two USB 3.0 ports you also have a headphone jack that's right here alright so this articulates in this rotates arm all the way up and that's like you use this the wrong way if you're a twitch streamer or if you have two of these monitors and using one for looking at your chat screen or maybe you do program and stuff like that this one - does articulate like this but what we're going to do is we want to take a look at the bottom of the monitor alright so on the bottom of the monitor you have your power cable here you have a display port and then you

have an HDMI port here and then you have the upstream USB 3.0 port that connects to the computer and then you have two more USB 3.0 ports that's right here so it has a total of four USB 3.0 ports - on the bottom - on the side and and those are your actual ports and so if you want to be able to achieve the the overclock of the monitor up to 165 Hertz you definitely need a display port cable which it does come with the actual - so I didn't have to purchase another one the HDMI port only supports up to 60 Hertz you know at the 1440 resolution so if you

definitely want to get the high frame rate make sure that you have a display port and looking at the side here this also comes with a little bit of cable management so you can actually be able to route these cables through here instead of having them go all the way over to place on so it gives a little bit of a cleaner look and that's pretty cool alright so what we're gonna do now is we're actually going to take a look at some of the menu settings the buttons are down here on the bottom you got the power button here then you have your other media control buttons this

down here so let's just take a look at these some of the menus that we have here so you got your exit you got the volume information here let's go here now this is gonna pull up your brightness control input source' color display audio menu personalize others currently right now it shows you know the maximum and says 2560 by 1440 hundred forty-four Hertz but here's which shows what we actually use it right now shows 2560 by 1440 165 Hertz GC mode so that's what we're currently running right now here's how I have my brightness and contrast set up 50% brightness and a five percent contrast input source you that have HDMI or DisplayPort color

okay so on my custom settings I have red at 97 percent I have green at 99 percent and I have blue at 96 percent I found out that those custom settings worked for me alright so the actual Hertz on this particular panel so overclock you have to make sure that you go in and enable it and then also you have to change it to 165 I do see here menu personalized others you could affect the reset I have the power saving mode on that always helps and yes so it's forced actual

menu items the buttons they pretty much work they're not the best sometimes it have to hit the buttons twice but you know I rarely use this so you know that's not that's a non-issue all right so we're gonna transition over to taking a look at how I have my video control panel set up along with the actual other settings and then we get into some gameplay so you can see the frames per second and things of that nature alright so let's go ahead and take a look at the Nvidia control panel alright so as you can see here g-sync is on let's take a look at how I have

this optimized so right now I have the preference set on performance and then when you choose the advanced through these settings I'm gonna go here can't be an occlusion off an instructor filtering off and so on and so forth so I have these things turned off something's turned on CUDA cores all being used as a DSR factors off the maximum period of frames is one DC technology OpenGL rendering and that's the graphics card preferred maximum performance on power management prefer refresh rate highest available to see texture fill tienes tropic

simple optimization on texture filtering allow texture filtering quality performance trial any optimization on third optimization on triple buffering off vertical sync actually this needs to be off I don't want to use that virtual reality for render of France is one which also matches the maximum improvement of frames is one now just because okay so in the menu settings on the monitor itself I showed you how to be able to setup the actual overclock but you also have to come inside here and you have to make sure that you have it on the native resolution but you

have to also make sure that you change it to 165 Hertz here otherwise it's gonna default to I think it's deep out to like 60 Hertz so you got to make sure that you're coming here change it then you know otherwise you're not gonna be playing on a higher so just make sure that you do that also down here I'm using the Nvidia color settings this is the 8 bit panel so that's selected there I have the full output dynamic range set up I'm gonna see here down to video color settings I also have this up under the Nvidia settings and I have this set to full on 0 to 255 so

those are my Nvidia control panel settings and let's go ahead and take a look at some gameplay alright so if you see at the top left-hand corner here I just want to show you some off-screen game recording but we are just sitting here here's a lot of stuff going on in the background we are at 100 and 715 this is anthem so just taking a look at that here and you just kind of see how this bounced up and you know this bounces around a special when we start flying you see some different frame rates man thank you for watching the review all the way through then you see

the reason why I took the other monitor back and just for my knees this month are works out just a whole lot better for me it's the best monitor that you could buy for the price the size and the features so I got any questions hit me down in the comments let me know what you think about the review let me know what type of monitor that you have or what you plan on getting.

the 24-inch del s 2417 DG is the little brother to the 27-inch s 2716 DG a monitor that largely impressed me except for one key issue with its image quality thankfully the s 2417 DG isn't afflicted in the same way making it a far more tempting option like its sibling the s 2417 DG is a TN LCD gaming monitor with a 144 Hertz refresh rate 1 millisecond response time and gsync most notably though it also shares the same 2560 by 1440 resolution as its bigger brother rather than lean 1920 by 1080 resolution you normally get on 24 inch displays this immediately

elevates this miter above any others of its size as it opens up the possibility of gaming as a high resolution resulting in a sharper image and when on your desktop is allows you to get a lot more done the pixel density of 123 pixels per inch maybe a touch too high for some users but it's only slightly higher than what I consider the ideal level of 110 pixels per inch which is what you get on a typical 27-inch monitor with the same resolution meanwhile I find the 90 pixels per inch that you get with normal 1080p 24 inch displays to be a little low either way if you are

struggling you can always use Windows scaling to make things more readable most of the time just leaving the high-resolution option for when needed zooming back out of it though the first thing that strikes you about this monitor isn't its resolution but its design I think there's a strong argument for saying this the best-looking gaming monitor you can buy and certainly the best 24 inch model it's simple businesslike stand and dark grey and black paint job are just so much classier than any other display out there or the hidden bezel gives the whole thing such as

sense of sleekness the only slippered is the glossy plastic on the back which inevitably will show up fingerprints and dirt more than a matte finish as for more practical considerations the stand offers plenty of adjustability with height tilts pivot and rotation all available plus these fan clips in and out of place really easily and there's a hundred 100 mil vision at underneath for use with other stands point it is also good for a juicing display the usual limitations apply to video inputs with just one inch of DisplayPort and HDMI but you also get a USB 3 hub with two ports on

the back and two on the left side where there's also a headphone jack sadly you don't get any speakers though as for the on-screen display Dell has done a decent job the buttons and menus line up nicely and work together in an intuitive manner there's also a good selection of options in the menus which are balanced nicely between offering plenty features while not getting too bogged down with superfluous extras meanwhile the buttons are a bit unresponsive so there's

still room for improvement when it comes to image quality this display largely gets things right being a TN panel viewing angles argue its strong suit but it's far from the worst and so long as you don't get to extreme angles it's okay as for colour reproduction the use of a proper 8 bit panel rather than 6 bit with dithering has paid dividends as the image is noticeably more stable and accurate what's more right out of the box many aspects of its image quality are in fact excellent colour bands in particular is just about perfect and there's none of the overly zealous

overdrive settings you get on some monitors plus crucially it doesn't have the washed out look that plagued the s 2716 DG oddly comparing gamma in contrast figures there's no obvious explanation for why that's the case but in person the s 2417 DG definitely looks better so decent is this displays overall image quality in fact because I didn't change a single thing to calibrate it other than drop the brightness down a bit not that the end result is perfect with that low contrast figure being the biggest concern that's the most gaming and general desktop use this won't be that noticeable you'll only be watching video where you may notice the lack of depth

from that low contrast trigger meanwhile moving from 60 Hertz to 144 Hearst doesn't drastically alter image quality unlike with some displays as for gaming the one millisecond response time 144 Hertz refresh rate do you think and the extra resolution combine a great effect it's sharp accurate and responsive and having that extra resolution is a real boon in terms of tweaking the panel the only real choice is whether to turn on the fast overdrive setting or not however it's not much of a choice as the panel great without it and the fast-setting introduces

too much Corona effect for my liking in summary then this is a really good G think display in fact arguably it's the best in its class which should hope for considering its asking price physically it looks the part performance is largely very good and has a great balance of features the contrast ratio and high priced means it isn't perfect and as ever the extra cost of juicing makes it seem poor value next to free sync displays but overall it would definitely be my pick of the bunch for 24-inch juicing gaming monitors .

Dell Gaming Monitor S2417DG YNY1D 24-Inch Screen LED review

sort of go over the basic specs and kind of get those out of the way this is the Dell s2 401 7dg it's a 24-inch 1440p monitor it ships at 144 Hertz but it is overclockable to 165 Hertz you just do that through the menu it's very easy to do and it is a TN panel with a 1 millisecond response time and it has G sync so it kind of checks off all the boxes on what I would consider sort of the perfect brew of specs for a gaming monitor now some of you may argue that since it is a TN panel rather than IPS that that would be a shortcoming and if perfect color accuracy is

important to you then sure I would agree with you there but if you're just looking for the best possible gaming performance that faster response time is actually going to benefit you more than that color accuracy and to be quite honest these newer TN panels are so good that's yeah they're not as good as IPS when it comes to color reproduction but they're pretty darn close and as far as the viewing angles go whoever looks at their monitor other than straight on

anyway so to me that's not really a big deal and as a personal preference that light bleed that you get on IPS panels not all that some coming from the edges sort of bothers me so I'm perfectly happy with this you know I do some content creation on this monitor but you know I'm not really that worried about having perfect color accuracy at least not at that points alright guys I want to give you a closer look here get a little hands-on with the monitor and I want to start off by just commenting on the overall style of the monitor and that is one of the

big things that drew me to this one over the competition for instance acer is also putting out a 24 inch 1440p monitor i'm not sure about asus but if they did I think I know what to expect this pretty much looks like any Dell monitor that's come out in the last hundred years they haven't really changed their style very much but I'm ok with that I like the sort of understated more I guess you could call it more of a professional look these thin bezels are gorgeous I like the fact that they didn't feel the need to put any sort of quote/unquote gay Murray style features into

this you know if it weren't for the g-sync logo on the base you would look at this monitor and you will may not even really realize that it is a gaming monitor but obviously the specs speak for themselves aside from that I mean it's got all the normal features you would expect from a monitor it's got the swivel feature which I don't really know who uses that height-adjustable which is always nice tilt and the you can rotate the monitor which again the only time I use that just to plug this stuff in so you've got USB pass-through you've got your hdmi and displayport

power does have speakers I'm not gonna comment on the speakers because I never use monitor speakers and you know it's whatever their monitor speakers I don't know if you're gonna reinvent the wheel their power and menu buttons here and then on the left side of the monitor you get a couple more USB 3.0 outputs one of them as a charging port and then you have a headphone jack so yeah pretty much covers all the bases on anything that you would expect

from a monitor and a very sleek and stylish form factor now you can make fun of me and call me an old man but I rather enjoy the fact that I can have this monitor sitting on my desk and not feel like a 16 year old kid with all the flashy gamer accents on some of these newer monitors now and that's not to take anything away from you know the quality of those monitors they're they're awesome but I just prefer this sort of look over the stylized gamer look of the competitors the last thing here I want to sort of talk about is the size of this monitor now I have

it sitting next to my 28 inch 4k monitor to sort of help illustrate my point here but I've always felt that 24 inches is the perfect size for a monitor it doesn't take up too much space on your desk and for me personally I just don't need it to be any bigger I have good eyes and I would prefer a tighter pixel density over larger form factor now that's obviously personal preference but for me I like that 24 inch size now I've been using the 28 inch for a couple years now because 4k really is only available in larger sizes but what sort of detracted me from trying out

1440p at 27 inches is that I just haven't really been impressed with the picture and for what I would pay for it to me it just wasn't really worth it I just didn't even really notice a huge difference between 1080p 24 inch monitors and 1440p 27 inch monitors the pixel density just really isn't that big of a difference however when you shrink that down to 24 inches now you get a 25% improvement in pixel density over the 1080p version of a 24 inch monitor so now finally I am looking at this monitor and I'm not really seeing the pixels that I would see at 27 inches so

now maybe you could say this is just me being picky but I have been wanting 1440p and a 24 inch size for a while now and when I saw that they were finally going to be releasing it I actually got really excited now the final thing that really sold me on this monitor and actually made it a very easy choice was the price now when you consider previously that 27-inch 1440p monitors were going for anywhere from six to eight hundred dollars you would expect a smaller size

would would yield a slightly less of a price but this monitor here well I think Dell has it even seen it going for less than that but for all of the features that you get from a gaming perspective and the nice design of this monitor  I mean it's it's to me it's an .

that are sort of in the beginning stages right now so nothing that I can really specifically show you there but I did recently ditch my 4k monitor that I've been using for the past two years for a 1440p gaming monitor so I really like it I've been using it for a couple of weeks and I just kind of wanted to give you guys some general thoughts and impressions on why I really feel like this is a monitor that someone could consider so to sort of go over the basic specs and kind of get

those out of the way this is the Dell s2 for one 7dg it's a 24-inch 1440p monitor it ships at 144 Hertz but it is overclockable to 165 Hertz you just do that through the menu it's very easy to do and it is a TN panel with a 1 millisecond response time and it has G sinks so it kind of checks off all the boxes on what I would consider sort of the perfect brew of specs for a gaming monitor now some of you may argue that since it is a TN panel rather than IPS that that would be a shortcoming and if perfect color accuracy is important to you then sure I would agree with you there but if you're just looking for the best possible gaming performance that faster

monitors the pixel density just really isn't that big of a difference however when you shrink that down to 24 inches now you get a 25% improvement in pixel density over the 1080p version of a 24 inch monitor so now finally I'm looking at this monitor and I'm not really seeing the pixels that I would see at 27 inches so now maybe you could say this is just me being picky but I have been wanting 1440p and a 24 inch size for a while now and when I saw that they were finally going to be releasing it I actually got really excited now the final thing that really sold me on

have heard my opinion I'd love to hear yours feel free to leave a comment down below would you consider this the perfect gaming monitor right now is it something you're considering I think that if you're in the market for a new monitor and you're looking at 1440p you should

definitely take a serious look at this if you prefer a larger monitor hey by all means go for it but for the price and the performance I'm not so sure you could beat this one I appreciate any feedback you guys want to leave make sure to give me a thumbs up.
