If you're shopping around for a chromebook, it's hard not to be tempted by the Acer Chromebook 15 (CB3-532-C47C). All-day battery life and a 15.6-inch screen for just ? While it's not the most stylish or powerful chromebook you can buy, this is a tantalizing deal any which way you slice it. Acer's own Chromebook 14  remains our top pick, though, because for about more, you get a sleek metal build, a slimmer, more portable build with a 1080p 14-inch screen, and better processing power.

Design and Features
Available at Walmart, this Chromebook 15  doesn't so much revolutionize the chromebook as offer a different option at a good value. For a similar price, most current chromebooks pack 11- or 13-inch screens—and that makes sense. The worth of a chromebook hinges on the three pillars of affordability, streamlined functionality, and portability. A bigger screen naturally takes a backseat.

That's why, at least on the surface, it's nice to have the option of a bigger display without having to sacrifice economy. The chromebook's 15.6-inch screen is matte, LED backlit, and has a resolution of 1,366 by 768. While that resolution is still HD and commonly found on chromebooks, it does look a bit grainy on a 15-inch screen. It's fine while watching 720p YouTube videos, but eagle-eyed users might notice some pixelation. The screens on the Chromebook 14 and the Toshiba Chromebook 2  both have full HD (1,920-by-1,080) resolution, though they're smaller. Keep in mind, however, that chromebooks aren't meant to be multimedia powerhouses, and the benefit of extra screen space is that you can fill it with multiple open tabs and apps.

Measuring 0.95 by 15.08 by 10.08 inches (HWD) and weighing 4.3 pounds, the Chromebook 15 is certainly bigger and thicker than the majority of 11- and 13-inch chromebooks. For instance, the CTL J5 Chromebook  measures 0.88 by 11.5 by 8.22 inches and weighs 3.21 pounds, while the Chromebook 14 is 0.67 by 13.43 by 9.31 inches and 3.32 pounds. That said, the Chromebook 15 still light enough to carry one-handed and thin enough to fit easily into most backpacks. Design-wise, the Chromebook 15 won't win any awards—it's pretty nondescript, with a steel-colored plastic lid and keyboard deck. The bottom of the chassis is made from a textured black plastic that, while inoffensive, feels slightly grubby to the touch. (But again, for , a jaw-dropping design would be icing on the cake rather than a necessity.)

The keyboard itself is chiclet style and, as on most chromebooks, the Caps Lock key has been replaced with a Search key. It's easy enough to type on, though key travel is a bit short and may take some getting used to. The touchpad is responsive and easy enough to use for everyday tasks. Options are limited as far as port selection, but that's par for the course with chromebooks. The right side of the chassis features a security lock slot, SD card reader, and a USB 3.0 port. The remaining ports, including another USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port, a headphone/speaker jack, and a power jack are housed on the left side. Rounding out the features is a 1,280-by-720 webcam in the top bezel and upward-firing speakers on either side of the keyboard. The speakers aren't especially loud and the sound quality is a bit hollow and tinny.

The Chromebook 15 comes with 16GB of flash storage, which is typical but not as much as the 32GB available on machines like the Acer Chromebook R 11 and the CTL J5 Chromebook. This isn't a huge drawback, however, as chromebooks run on Chrome OS and rely on cloud storage and Web-based applications. And since Wi-Fi is crucial to the chromebook experience, it's a plus that the Chromebook 15 is equipped with speedy dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, as well as Bluetooth 4.2. The Chromebook 15 also comes with a limited one-year warranty.

Performance
Under the hood, the Chromebook 15 doesn't necessarily distinguish itself from other chromebooks out there. It's powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Celeron N3060 (with integrated Intel HD Graphics 400) and 2GB of RAM. That's not the most powerful setup we've seen; the Acer Chromebook 14 packs a quad-core processor and 4GB of memory. But for your everyday Web browsing, word processing, or YouTube watching, the Chromebook 15 is snappy enough and can handle seven or eight open browser tabs without a significant slowdown.

Battery life is a major draw. Acer claims that the laptop can last up to 12 hours in regular use, but it breached the 17-hour mark while playing video during the company's testing. In our own battery rundown test, the Chromebook 15 lasted 14 hours, 17 minutes—not quite 17 hours, but better than some of the longer-lasting chromebooks, including the CTL J5 Chromebook (12:21), Acer Chromebook 14 (11:50), Asus Chromebook Flip (11:15), and Acer Chromebook R 11 (10:30).

Conclusion
If you're looking for a bargain on a chromebook, and you value function over form, it's really hard to do better than the Chromebook 15. You might be giving up style, but in return you'll get a bigger screen and absurdly long battery life—while only paying . If design does matter to you or you'd like clearer visuals, however, you could shell out a little more for our Editors' Choice pick, the Acer Chromebook 14. You'll lose about an inch of screen space and about three hours of battery life, but you gain a 1080p screen, more processing power, and a sleeker build.

Besides having a huge display, Acer Flagship CB3-532 offers a very affordable price that doesn’t break your bank and offers the best of specs. With a sleek metal body, 1366 x 768 display, and a powerful processor, this bad boy is a must have.

If we talk about design, then the Chromebook scores pretty well. Its screen is matte and has LED backlit with a resolution of 1366 x 768. With this resolution, you can enjoy 720p videos and many high graphics games that you’ve been waiting to play.

The Chromebook is a budget-friendly gaming laptop that doesn’t have all the high-end features of a top-notch laptop. Therefore, it isn’t meant to be a multimedia powerhouse, and the extra screen space allows you to fill multiple open apps and tabs.

The processor power of this bad boy is intense as it packs a lot of heat under its hood. The Acer Chromebook has a Dual-Core Celeron N3060 up to 2.48GH.z processor coupled with 2 GB DDR3 SD RAM. And that’s not all; this Chromebook is packed with Intel HD Graphics 400 which enables you to play games which demand high graphics capacity.

Speaking of capacity, the Chromebook has a 16 GB SSD internal storage that allows you to store plenty of files and install games of your liking.

The Chromebook is your one machine for all sorts of tasks. You can perform your everyday stuff like word processing, internet surfing, and YouTubing. Along with all that, you can also play your favorite games on this Chromebook as it was built to multitask without any trouble.

There is one area which you should look before buying this Chromebook, and that is its battery life. If we take Acer’s word, then its battery could last up to 12 hours in normal usage, but sadly, that isn’t true.

When we tested this Chromebook, it only gave a solid 7 hour run time on average usage, while playing a game, the duration could even drop further.

so this is fair enough. Even with average battery life, this laptop performs well and knows how to deliver.
