The best Noctua NH-L9i, Intel LGA115x (Brown) review

I guess we could be having a look and I'm not sure and hitch l man i this is an incredibly small low profile call of Matra i featuring it 90 millimeter fan that is cool it is 37 millimeters in height making it very very small and if anything actually smaller than the standard intel stock car making a very good with HD pcs and also very small form-factor cases it does burst 100% compatibility for ram and also a PCI Express slots on mini ATX boards so you can have absolutely no problem has fallen this on um of water and to be honest we really were even need to check now just for comparison this color is going to be compared to the standard intel spot

color so it's what that looks like with the copper slug on the bottom and then to the slim line color as well which is really the slim line calls not very good to do come over a smaller fan the overall height is not very good well liver all height is lot smaller don't commit assault copper slug and it this really ships have i3s I believe in Pentiums it's a really crappy cool in my opinion but yeah that's what Intel now just as a comparison just to show you now this cooler is very very small so here is the actual height of the scholar hits really really small and if anything's on power like the slim in tile spot color a little bit small on the standard into score it does come

with an animal fan as I mentioned and then also even though it's quite tricky to see just feature two heat pumps that are kind of in a u-shape and do pass and over the shiny bits that is cool just have survived ever do you jump into this review and down here view the NH L none I so fixed again sat inside the box you get the Seaview color and many standard not too accessories like a solid metal kiss budge a syringe of NCH one thermal pistol on is adapter and solid mounting pieces including four bolts for insulation it also get for longer screws under the

packaging you can use these on the screws to add a thicker 25 millimeter fan in the future speaking of insulation the installed gap makes the cool look incredible easy to install an all Intel LGA 1156 supports not sure to also make an LNA variant of this core for AMD sockets based on the same design also no view that mentions i-95 by 95 millimeters of the height being 37 millimeters with the 14 millimeter thick 90 mil fan attached this makes the color ideal for home theater PC builds and ever builds where you have very little cooler clearance note you also again see that I'll have no disruption to the brand modules or the first PCI Express Tampa 6

inches long even on mini ATX boards this will make the choice of all components a breeze as will be no compromises I'll have to be made basing consists of a very small 24 millimeter or 2.4 centimeter shop and stack of many aluminium fins touching the base although hard to see they are two copper heat pipes to maximize the cooling potential in such a small package as for the fan this is a custom variant of one of not chewers own retail NF NN x 14 fans with speeds rated at 2500 rpm max or 1800 rpm max with the low noise adapter attached the minimum rated

rotation speed is 600 rpm so it should be relatively quiet at adil the fan is pre attached with four short screws and rubber dampers onto the mounting mounting the lni is really easy all you need to do is apply the included thermal paste your CPUs IHS and the Tippie main board upside down onto the coolers base we've just done you can screw in the four thumb screws into the cooler from underneath you board making sure to do this evenly so that the thermal compound can be spread nice and evenly no backplate is required for mounting so you don't have to mess

around of any tricky small parts and also do note that did use antic MX for thermal compound as I've used this for my testing for the last three years on to the performance benchmarks testing this cooler on my usual test rig with an i7 4790k app fogging heads for low-end coolers this cool was able to keep the chip at a cool 71 degrees and with the low noise adapter attached 77 degrees where I'm comparing this to the two Intel stock coolers I have on hand they of course didn't score as well as with the noise test I performed do feel free to take a lesson to compare this core to the other in sell coolers so guys to conclude on the l-man I overall is a very

good cooler for its actual size and for Mini ITX builds with very very small cases and also for home theater pcs I would definitely recommend it over that slim and tall stock color now as you've seen the performance gains from using this over the actual standard Intel spot color you aren't getting much more performance and to be honest the noise levels of this color even though it is quieter than the Intel stock color it doesn't really win by a big margin now you've got to remember it does live a better result and it is a tad quieter so I will give it that now this

cool I would recommend the home theater pcs but if you are buying mini ITX cases and just overall can support logical and this I would recommend not buying the school actually and getting the enhanced version that Noctua do sell it's literally more than this one here in the UK so well I'm not recommending is cool I'm just saying if you are building a mini ITX PC which isn't home theater kind of case founded where you know the really really small then ya would recommend not get in this and get in the performance

enhanced version which is the x 65 variant just give not two or three four pounds more and you're gonna get a mouths better cooler it is a little bit taller but in mini ATX cases you really shouldn't have a problem that's just a few centimetres longer and you do get the four heat pipes and a wire defense back well I'll say - stack it's about double so that would be my recommendation personally but it's call of a home dota pcs where you literally have no real choice really between these rather this on like the in so stock caller and a very very small

selection other companies do make this is a really good call for that but as I said the the performance enhanced version of this caller would be what I would personally recommend for Mini ITX bills .

CPU cooler that is the NHD 15 which you can faintly see behind me in my gaming and editing rig so now it's time to take a look at the total opposite end of the spectrum and take a look at the NHL 9 I hello everybody and welcome to tak uploaded I'm Chris and today we're taking a look at a teeny CPU cooler this thing has been with me for a while noctua sent me this will review quite a while ago and I had all these plans for what I was going to do with it and I thought you know what I'll put it my home theater PC that'll be a great place to to install this and then I had flashbacks to installing that zalman cooler that's in there now and I couldn't

bring myself to do it there was just going to be too much swearing and heartbreak if I try to get that zalman cooler out of there considering how hard it was to get it into the computer so I decided instead to put this thing to the test with the 20th anniversary Pentium g3 2 5 8 and kind of dial D overclocked back just a little bit so I wouldn't be blasting things off doing the prime95 test you know going way off the charts because if everything hits the thermal max what's the point of the benchmark so took it down to four point two and that was running at about one

point three may I would think one one point three one eight volts I think is what it said the CPU Z so not bad at all actually for this new series of Intel chips they seem to do a lot better with the cooling so that was the right in that perfect range so actually did this review once before and it just didn't work out for whatever reason it wouldn't upload to YouTube so we're doing it again put everything back in the box took the CPU cooler off I went back to the stock again so we can do the install and take a look at what came in the package think I did a pretty good job putting it back in here though so let's take a look what you get alright so here's the box I

actually went ahead and put everything back the way that it was cleaned everything off and we're going to start over again because I do want to show the really simplistic installation process for this particular CPU cooler which is always important when you're dealing with small areas so first things first you open it up very impressive very impressive you've got the CPU cooler laid out right there I've got a glass table you may see the cat there he goes so you've got the CPU cooler itself the badge and then of course the thermal grease the n-th one cooling

grease and then four screws and what they always include which is nice is the low noise adapter for those people out there who not have the ability to control their fan speed a via the motherboard so that's always nice to see and then of course the nice little guide up here tucked away in a little compartment right up top alright so taking this piece out you're exposed with the cooler itself now look at this thing this is a thing of beauty right here very very thin very very convenient for someone that's working in a confined space now I've done a home theater PC build before and this would have been really nice to have I actually used a Zalman cooler

that was incredibly difficult to install and having been through this installation process once before I can tell you this is much much better and quite a bit beefier actually in an overall weight considering how small is this thing is uh it's no slouch as far as weight is concerned now looking at the bottom you can see it's very clean you've just got your fins right here your mounting points and then of course the contact point with your CPU which I think it did a

pretty good job cleaning up I do say so myself and that's pretty much it you've got that the four screws that connect it from the back and then the thermal grease and you are done so let's go ahead and move on to the installation process alright so installation of this could not have been any easier all you had to do was go ahead and basically put your thermal grease down on your CPU and then put this block in place over the thermal grease and as soon as you do that then you're going to need to screw through on the backside so I'll show you that and there are four

provided screws that actually have a nice little rubber washer on them so you don't damage your motherboard that are provided now taking a look at this in the case itself it's incredibly low profile I can tell you that I'm using HyperX fury memory which is actually fairly low profile as it is it doesn't have any of those crazy risers attached to it that you know go really high off the board or anything like that so this sits just a tad bit higher than that so there you

have it you know installing this thing was super easy the thing that's a positive and negative for this particular cooler is the fact that because the installation was so easy I didn't have to set any you know pins or anything like that that means it is only compatible with that it actually says right on the front custom-designed SEC you firm to mounting for LGA 1150 X so you've got to have you know one of those boards so if you've gotten a MD or you've got twenty eleven which I'll know I'd be putting this on twenty eleven twenty eleven - three but if you got one of those

setups you're kind of hosed but since I was using Intel it worked out really well made the install super easy and man I wish this thing would've been around when I do the home theater bill because it was so much easier to deal with and if you're dealing with small spaces the thing that's really nice about this is the fact that it does do all the mounting from the back of the motherboard so you're not having to dig around with your hands and a really small confined space to put any kind of mounting points in or anything like that you just drop it on screw it in

from the back and you're good to go so how to perform let's take a look right results were pretty much what I expected now the first thing we can see from this is you know these new Intel chips run nice and cool you know this is pretty much the very similar result of what I saw even on my 4790k when I was testing that out some different coolers overall temps stay very mild even when you're putting a mild overclock on the CPU so nothing ever got real crazy and even doing a large in-place F of T on prime95 how does we ever got was 93 but you can see the

Noctua Falls pretty much right in the middle there and actually was did the best on valley but you know I contribute that to just you know low margin of error I let it run the whole valley benchmark experience and then you know when it got done I took a look what the maximum temperature was when it was running that and on the knob toy it was only 54 so if you look at the hyper 212 though when you're doing the prime 95 that one definitely did stay the coolest however I will say that the hyper 212 did get the loudest believe it or not of all of them even

louder in the Intel stock cooler and the stock cooler that does come with this one is pretty decent so that is something to keep in mind if you're trying to stay on a budget so looking at those numbers I mean there's nothing to complain about here this thing does a very good job it was able to keep things nice and cool even under prime95 and the best part was it stayed super super quiet even when it was doing prime95 and is ramped you know to full speed where I'm assuming was full speed still super quiet and that's what you want in a cooler like this because

more than likely this is going to be going into like a home theater PC build a really small form-factor build you're not gonna have a lot of space between what your CPUs mounted and the outside of the case at the edge of the case so have to say really impressed with this I think not too it did a very good job I can see why this is such a popular choice like I said just the ease of installation alone makes this cooler worth it so if you're going to be doing a home theater PC build or even like a small server like an ass box or something like that this is probably worth
putting on your shortlist all right .
